Food was way over salted. Couldn’t eat most of it.
We brought our teenage twins as we were on vacay. At first we weren’t sure what to order. We just asked questions as we were encouraged and had a delicious dinner.
First time here and enjoyed very much. Would return. Unassuming atmosphere with above board food quality and great service.
Awesome Burger. Great cocktails and beer. Really cool vibe. Like party-ish divey, but chill and groovy at the same time. Really casual atmosphere with upscale menu
Fun and fabulous!!! We enjoyed the food immensely and the DJ was rocking!! Brought us back to our yourh
Decent food, a little pricey.
It’s hard to identify the worst part of the experience: the lackluster food, the disappointing wine, the half-hearted service, the lack of ambiance, the disturbing art, or the cigarette smoke permeating the air. There are too many good restaurants in Asheville to return to this one.
Amazing food, amazing service, guy that was Busser, host and waiter was extraordinary!!
Aux bar is fantastic! Stumbled on this place on Open Table with friends and family in town for a holiday weekend. Aux had an outdoor table for ya and sat us immediately- good and drinks were well priced and excellent. Their home made Bloody Mary mix is a must have! Excellent brunch menu!
Service could have been better food great.
You got to try this place at least once. It’s a great spot for late night bites, especially after a show at the local venues. A bit loud, service was slow, but we would agree that you have to give it s try.
Good food and quiet enough to have a conversation. Will come back for sure.
The menu is very heavy and low on vegetables and anything healthy
Having been to a Blind Pig Dinner—and having read very good reviews of the restaurant, I had high hopes for Aux Bar. In short: My friend and I were disappointed.
As I’ve noted in other reviews, Asheville restaurants have a very high bar to cross because of all the outstanding competition. So, while Aux Bar may have received higher votes in another locale, it needs something else to excel here.
Here’s an example: On the list of special house cocktails, there’s something called a “Sweet Home Alabama.” Catchy name. Now, catch the ingredients: Jack Daniels, Caramelized Peanut Orgeat, RC Cola, and Fresh Cream. (I would pay to NOT take even a sip.)
Back to the food….The mushroom soup was tasty, and the “flavored oval of nicely spiced cheese” floating in it was a unique touch; the chicken liver pate with toast was very good, though the toast was soggy; the large salad with beets had lettuce that looked and tasted more like the base ingredient for a chopped steakhouse salad; the generous serving of crispy Brussels sprouts with a poached egg was delicious.
This being my sixth visit I continue to be impressed with the extraordinary quality of the food. Having lived in Paris (France, not Texas) for a year and New Orleans for 35 years, I can attest that the French onion soup is the best anywhere. The romaine salad with fried chicken and the lunch poboys are also superb as are the fries.
Perfectly delicious pancakes that are huge and unlike your mom’s. Unique combination of sweet and a touch of savory. Paired with the best Bloody Mary in Asheville and brunch doesn’t get any better!!
Wonderful service and food. Mike the bartender made our night!
Dinner and the service was great. The only thing that wasn't pleasant was the location on our table, it was directly in front of the entrance, and was cold every time someone came in or left the restaurant.
We had a wonderful ladies dinner for our friends 40th birthday. They accommodated our large party and the food and service was excellent
Service was great. Food was a tad over peppered for our palates.
Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Food was just ok. Not worth the price or the hype I’ve heard. I’d be willing to give it another chance.
A quaint little place has good food and service is good.
Steak was very fatty cut of meat
A friend and I met for lunch on a weekday. During the 2 hours that we were there
Wonderful fun eclectic menu. Duck wings?! Yes please!! Everything was top
Notch from the drinks to the dessert! We will be back!
Aux Bar's hamburger is still excellent. The service is some of the best I have ever had. Thanks for making my friend's birthday a great evening.
Brussel sprouts are a must!! A delicious experience all around!
Worst food ever.
This funky, hippie ambiance was a complete disaster.
Food put together and pushed as great dishes. Just a run down place with inferior quality.
Food was good we really enjoyed the wine, eggs, among other items. Stay away from the bread pudding that was terrible but everything else great! Small place service was good and she made some great recommendations!
I made dinner reservations at Aux Bar for Christmas Eve.
Our family of 5 was sited without waiting and we all had drinks in front of us within 5 min.
We ordered red bean hummus & smoked trout as appetizers and they tasted delicious.
For entrees we ordered Duck wings *
3x Brussels spouts
and Chicken *
Dessert was bread pudding for some of us!
Kids said they liked it because it wasn’t to sweet.
Service was outstanding
Thank you for a memorable Christmas Eve dinner
This was a unexpected find for me. I had never been here before. Our hostess was willing to move our table so we could get better light even though the restaurant was crowded. I particularly enjoyed the drink selections. And my salad was wonderful.
Excellent! Perfect find. Tasty food and a great atmosphere.
Celebrating real estate closing
The food and service were both good. The menu was exactly what is on their website (our mistake making the reservation based on the Yelp menu). It was a smaller venue than expected which made for a little noise, but overall a great experience and we would return more if we lived here.
Fantastic food and hip atmosphere.
Excellent food and service! Can't wait to return. Very talented culinary team.
Fabulous dining experience as always. Everyone in our party found something wonderful to eat. We look forward to our next meal there.
The Aux Bar proved a real surprise. The roast beef poboy was as good as any I enjoyed in 35 years in New Orleans (the meat rich with flavor and combined with crisp bacon on fresh, crisp crust French bread) and the creamy Mac and cheese simply astonishing, more French than American. My buddy had one of the best French onion soups ever, the broth rich and brown and the Gruber’s nested perfectly. One of the very best lunches in this or any town.
Great bar/restaurant in Asheville. Will definitely visit there again when we get back to the area.
For thanksgiving we knew we would take what was on offer, but the californium red wine we ordered was poor. We can’t decide if this was due to the wine itself or the fact it was warm to hot, I’ve never experienced wine like it.
The mains were ok but the puddings disappointing.
The food was ok but disappointing kids meal. They bought it out super quick which is great but the chips were very salty and for a kids meal it lacks any real thought.
Ambience was nice and the restaurant wasn’t noises even they were full.
The waitress was very attentive and maybe had they not been so busy we would have changed the meals.
Overall I wouldn’t go back as it lacked quality vs cost.
