Overall excellent. Ian, our server, was helpful to us and answered our menu questions.
Great restaurant in the suburbs, liked the outdoor patio space and love their cocktails.
Just...wow. The gnocchi with lamb was to die for. The hummus was absolutely fantastic (and I know my hummus). Also loved the craft cocktail.
We love Autre Monde, but we went in specifically for the chef's tasting menu this weekend. It was really incredible. Dan Pancake is a genius. We loved every course, and we loved the unfiltered Brendan Tracy Rose, which paired perfectly with so many of the dishes. Doug was a wonderful, fun server. Amazing experience, all around.
Warm eve and setting
Good food and drinks
Stellar service and truly an understanding of hospitality. Both Denise and Carlos were first rate. Can't wait to go back. We were there to celebrate the of the original two M's.
Excellent, small plates, good wine & great service. Prefer outside seating - quiet, "garden like" feel (no traffic noise bleed-through). Inside, however, on a busy night it's extremely loud.
Went on a very hot day. Air conditioning was poor and the place had a musty smell. Server was great but a very limited menu for a tappas style restaurant. Drinks were good but pricey. Much better options out there.
The first problem was all the food was served at the same time. Salad, small plates, and entrees. The fish and Chips were over-cooked. The breading was very crisp and the Cod was dried out. The steak served with the Steak Frites was very fatty. Not the type of meat I would expect from a quality restaurant.
Little pricey but great food.
We love it here and usually have a great time. Our server was a bit pretentious this time. Also, had to ask another server to help us because ours was no where to be found. A week ago our server was fantastic and helpful, which made the experience wonderful. This time, I didn't feel very wanted, which was not a good experience. Considering how empty the place was, I would have thought they'd like us being there and make us comfortable. We still love it and we'll be back. Everyone has a bad day.
The restaurant had to be at least 80 degrees in there. The waiter was cordial but seemed overwhelmed. Perhaps short-staffed? We tried multiple dishes to share and finally received a fresh plate after the 6th course.
Most of the dishes were uninspiring and lacked flavor. Disappointing.
We had a pleasant evening. The food was interesting and varied, and our waiter was helpful and courteous. We would return.
A gem of a neighborhood restaurant, we've been coming to Autre Monde for years. The menu just changed and we were delighted with the selections. The pork belly was cooked perfectly as was the special of the evening - fish and chips! The beet salad was fresh and creamy with the goat cheese.
It wasn't crowded because we went very early - Autre Monde can tend to be a bit noisy just because it's a small footprint. If the weather had been better we would have sat outside in the backyard area, the hidden patio is a extra treat!
Autre Monde is terrific for a special evening since the prices can add up on small plates but overall, this restaurant is worth its weight in gold!!!
As always, we had a fantastic meal! We are never disappointed at Autre Monde.
In a sea of fast food along Roosevelt Road, we gratefully found Autre Monde. Smaller plate dining where food was well-prepared and flavorful. Stand-outs were the pork belly and grilled octopus. The prawns were average with a mealy texture and not much flavor. Salads were well-designed and fresh. Gin and tonic was refreshing on one of Chicago's first warm nights of summer. A few blocks from Fitzgerald's, so good pre-show option.
Always good. Love the patio just turn on the fans!
As usual, there are some dishes and cocktails that are just delicious, like the new scallops and the usual neevik and chocolate pot de creme. Some things weren't as much to our taste (especially the cannoli) or were fine but not exceptional (like the prawns and polenta). Sharing dishes is really fun, and the service was thoughtful and helpful. The patio can get hot, but it's pleasantly quieter than the indoor space.
We are a family of 5 with the youngest being 20 y.o. The small plate format is a great catalyst for dialog amongst the fam. The food is terrific and original. This is our 9th time, we'll be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed the soul vibe with the DJ and soul inspired menu! I'd go there every Sunday for same!
The chefs tasting is always amazing! The drinks are tasty!
Loved the outdoor eating area! Fabulous drinks and great way to share by ordering several small plates.
This has long been one of our favorite restaurants. However, our most recent experience was very disappointing. We were dining with some close friends to celebrate Father's Day who had never been here and we ended up feeling slightly embarrassed by the whole experience. The food was good, as always. But the service was horrible. We felt like we were invisible. We waited a very long time after being seated during which noone came to take our order for drinks or to explain the specials. So my husband flagged an employee down. He said he could help us but it wasn't even clear if he was suppose to be our waiter. He told us about the specials and took our drink orders. We thought at this point a waiter would be assigned but instead it ended up that we just had the same guy the whole night. He was not at all attentive. One of our friends would flag him down as he was passing our table to get another glass of wine. But he never asked the rest of us if we wanted refills so we drank water. The restaurant was not at all crowded so there was no clear reason why someone couldn't check on us more frequently. The experience was very uncomfortable for all of us and I don't think our friends will ever return.
Very nice selection for people who like to try different things and flavors and enjoy fairly simple but fresh and appealingly presented food. The ambiance is inviting with unique lamp accents but there could be a bit more light on the tables (was hard to read the menue)
Ran out of menu items. Some not as described. Great service as usual, but the food was not up to the usual standards.
Patio is really nice. Spinach salad with garlic and chickpeas - simple yet elegant.
Shrimp polenta - takes you to the southern coast of Spain.
Save room for the risotto.
Beautiful presentation. Great tasting food. Very nice wine selection. Patio is charming. Very professional server. Stall friendly and efficient.
Nice open patio. Nice small plates. Decent value and good service
We had the tasting menu and it was wonderful . The food was creative and delicious
Always wonderful food. We often take out-of-town guests, and we are never disappointed. One of our most favorite places to eat!
Always great food, comes out hot, perfectly plated. Flavors are excellent. Too bad wine pours are so small. Great wine, mini servings.
Great food and wonderful patio! Service was good too.
Always a great time at Autre Monde. Knowledge, pleasant service, thoughtfully prepared food and a positive vibe.
Went there for our anniversary. Had the chef's choice. Pricey, but very good.great place to go for a special occasion.
Excellent small plates perfect for sharing and creating conversation between old friends meeting up a new. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. Great place!
Went for Mothers Day dinner. They had a prix fixe menu, which wasn't noted when I made the reservation. I was looking forward to ordering off the menu and was disappointed in being limited in menu options. For future reference, let your customers know in advance if you're going to have a limited menu.
Been there before and lived it brought my 92 year old mom they only had expensive pre fixed menu said it was on website that way it wasn’t they ruined my mom and my mother’s day I actually cried so disappointed they didn’t even care
My pork chop was way under cooked. So they took my plate back and recooked it. Then bring my plate back with the a recooked pork chop, but everything else on my plate was cold at that point.
My wife and I love this place! And we'll always come back. I just have a few notes to consider for improving with relation to our specific experience.
• Having a non-dairy substitute for milk in coffees would be nice. Perhaps the coffee philosophy there is particular, and as a former barista I can certainly understand an aversion to vegan "milk" products, but with so many opting for alternatives and in some cases requiring the omission of dairy in their diets, it's truly helpful.
• While the Mother's Day brunch menu was wonderful, the main course selections were not particularly vegetarian friendly. I will say the kitchen was kind and accommodating to the one person in our party who was vegetarian. We appreciate the adjustment to the dish.
• The website does not display the brunch menu. Or at least I had a lot of trouble finding anything.
• I could not find any listing for the special Mother's Day brunch menu either. We don't like to be fussy guests and this could have helped in our decision making and avoid having to be so particular in our order requests. As a rule of thumb, I generally try not to eat from places or special menus if I believe I would have to request more than one or two very simple accommodations.
• Hats off to our server for his patience, politeness, attentiveness, and kindness. Hats off to the kitchen staff as well for being flexible.
• All the staff were tremendously friendly and polite and always are. That really effects our opinion of a restaurant.
Thanks for reading! - JR
The four of us shared small plates. All were excellent. Standouts included the smokey vegetable hummous, the duck breast (tender!) and grilled octopus. Good wine selection, but a but pricey for a glass. Noisy and crowded when we were there, but the food was worth it!
