Great meal with fantastic, knowledgeable, enthusiastic service from Scott. The entire team from the back of the house to the front of the house performed admirably. Relaxed service allowed our party to thoroughly enjoy our meal. Will certainly return for what we hope will be an encore performance
A great transition from Cinara to Autostrada Downtown. Loved all the pasta additions to the menu and happy to see them retain some of our favorites as well. Can’t wait to return again!
Seriously delicious food at the level of a fine dining restaurant in a more casual setting. Service was great and it didn’t feel like formal exchange, but rather a place to hangout, take your time, and enjoy the food and drinks.
Fantastic food. Great service. Would definitely visit again.
We shared dishes and had interesting and tasty food. Superb service from a young French Canadian woman whose name I did not get, but to whom I expressed and demonstrated my appreciation. 4 1/2 stars if it were possible. The drop was because of the noise - people talking - not loud music thank goodness, which made it a bit hard for the three of us to converse at a table meant for four.
Great service from beginning to the end, The food and atmosphere awesome.
Great meal and service. Wine seemed pricy. Had a great evening.
Focaccia and pastas were exceptional. Anchovies on toast appetizer was unfortunately served on very brunt bread, otherwise food was delicious.
Really nice atmosphere and lively vibe without being too loud.
Two servers delivered food to our table throughout the evening - one was very attentive, the other totally opposite bordering on rude. Our main server was sub-par so service was a let down for what was otherwise a good dining experience.
The food exceeded our expectations. Our waiter suggested the agnolotti and the chicken and both were excellent. It’s a bit noisy but lively, and packed on a weekday night. The room is cosy and relaxed-one could come here for a late night dinner at the bar or a special occasion. The customer service is five stars- from the waitstaff to the owners who addressed a small issue with one of our guests meal in a very professional manner. We shall be returning soon- either for the agnolotti or the tuna carpaccio!
The food was amazing and our server was wonderful. He was so friendly and didn't make us feel rushed.
Service outstanding, food very good. Highly recommend.
This place is incredible!!! Highly recommend. The food was delicious, especially the burrata, tuna carpaccio, and fresh made pastas! We went for a girls dinner of 6ppl and Sat in the perfect round table. We stayed for 3 hours! We will definitely be back. Can’t wait.
Great, energetic, lively atmosphere with a short, but sweet wine list and a serving crew that aims to take really good, attentive care if you!
Fabulous food, presentation, and service. Staff are friendly - our waiter, Gavin is a gem!!
Delicious celebration dinner w friends. Noise level is very loud when restaurant is in full swing. No matter b/c the food is that awesome! Too bad the concept is changing. We regularly go to Autostrada on Main Street and the Gaston’s area will be fortunate to have more mid-range options. Best of luck for the future!
Cinara is once of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. Not only is the food and wine list exceptional, but the knowledge and enthusiasm of the staff far surpasses impeccable. The manager Scott is absolutely fantastic, always taking the time to come over to the table to say hello and check in on the experience. Every one of my friends and clients I've introduced to Cinara has shared my appreciation for this gem of a restaurant. I highly recommend!
We dined for the first time four weeks' ago and loved it so much we came back again soon! We had the tasting menu and it was amazing!!!
So sad to see it closing but excited to see what's coming next!
Scott was incredibly knowledgeable with menu items and wine, very engaging conversations. The Cart Blanche feature was beautifully selected- amazing flavours.
Great meal and service.
Only downside was the restaurant’s poor ventilation. Lack of kitchen’s exhaust created a smoky environment. When dinner was over, clothing smelled like food and smoke.
The server was amazing at explaining and recommending wine pairings for the amazing food. It was all so delicious as we were able to do the set menu. Sadly we heard they’re doing away with that in the New Year but we will still be back to try the normal entrees!
The staff were very friendly and actually knew how to pair a wine with the food. They all have a passion for food and made the experience quite enjoyable. I was there with my client before a hockey game and they knew how to read the table. The food was true to Northern Italy dishes and were prepared and plated to perfection. I will definitely return.
Couldn’t have asked for a better evening. Thank you!
My wife and I visited Cinara for the first time (and as it turns out, the last - they are closing at the end of the month to "rebrand", according to our server) as a "pre-concert" date before the recent Joe Bonamassa show at the Queen E., and man, we were gobsmacked! Outstanding service, very nice wine list, inventive cocktails, and the food? Simply extraordinary. I had the chicken liver parfait with crostini and pickled vegetables for a starter, while my wife had the baccala (salt cod mixed with whipped potatoes), and both were divine; for our mains, we went with a lamb-stuffed pasta (can't recall the exact kind, honestly) and the duck two ways (roasted breast and a duck sausage, served with rapini and pearl barley) and again, both were excellent. The atmosphere was great, the service attentive but not overbearing - all around, it was a wonderful evening, and I will definitely go back when they reopen.
Our Saturday night dinner date at Cinara was simply awesome! I can't believe it took me this long to finally go...we plan to book in again in the coming weeks. Food, ambiance, energy and service were all exceptional!
We always love coming here for dinner, and as per usual the tasting menu was creative and delicious.
Service and food was outstanding. Great evening.
Just brilliant, from start to finish!
We enjoyed our visit to Cinara, food was delicious and the service was excellent. The portions were surprisingly small, though. I ordered the torteloni and maybe a dozen pieces covered the bottom of the bowl. One dining partner had the Risotto which was similarly lean in quantity but delicious.
Our appetizer, house-made sourdough bread served with burrata in balsamic vinaiger and olive oil, was also fresh and delicious - oddly, the portion was decent and enough for the 3 of us.
My favourite restaurant in Vancouver and so sorry it is going to be changed to another format . Love the food, the server Chris and the ambiance as it is. .
This is an excellent restaurant with a top notch staff that serves fantastic food. We went for the Carte Blanch menu option with the wine pairings and it exceeded our high expectations.
Terrific, friendly service; exceptional food and wine, and a warm, cosy atmosphere.
Cinara is rated one of the best restaurants in downtown Vancouver for good reason. Our dining experience was outstanding! Top marks for: service (greeted at door & seated promptly, entire menu carefully and fully explained, wine suggestions spot on, food and beverages delivered in timely well-paced fashion) is top notch. Food that one must try: Chicken liver parfait (there's a good reason why it's universally recommended!) and Baccala for appies, and the signature Orretchiete Bolognese. Also delicious is Crespelle, a lighter pasta with tender chicken shredded, spinach and to die for chanterelles. We finished with a smooth, light yet decadent salted caramel "pie". We will be back again!
Always a pleasure to spend a night here. Fantastic food and drink, knowledgeable servers, comfortable.... what else is anyone looking for?
Server was very friendly and sweet. Thanks for a great evening!
Dishes are on the smaller side for the pastas as you need an appetizer to be full
Not much sauce on the pastas which they say is normal but I think could use a bit more
Disappointing. Not sure if the upcoming format/menu change is the reason, but the food was subpar, certainly not worth the prices. Ling cod in parchment over cooked and under seasoned. Pasta with a pork cheek “ragu” ($24) had OK flavour but no pork. Starters were just average. Place was packed so who knows, but there are just too many other great places doing a better version of this to go back. Service was excellent although even after relaying our disappointment in the meal to our server there was no adjustment or response from the house. Too bad, hope the revamp improves things.
What a fantastic night, food, atmosphere and an awesome waiter.!!!!!
Based on all of the dishes that came to our table, the kitchen staff is creative with their combinations, sensitive with their flavouring and proficient in their preparation.
Very surprised and disappointed that there was no soup available.....ever. Going into a wet, cold and rainy November in Vancouver without a comforting soup is like not having asparagus on the menu in May. If you promote yourself as offering a seasonal menu, then not only does that drive ingredients but also the offerings. While many consider soup as peasant food ....if you cook like a peasant......you eat like a king.
I had ling cod in parchment paper..one of the best meals I have ever had in Vancouver.
Also chicken liver pate fabulous.,
