Autostrada - Main St.
Good old fashioned cooking. Incredible chicken liver pate! Great service, very welcoming and generous. Grazie mille!
Delicious. Spaghetti Bolognese is fantastic. Can’t wait to go back
Wine select very good- appetizers, anchovies on toast excellent, Caesar salad, excellent, specialty of evening salad w roasted radish slices - very good.
Mains 3 out of 4 disappointing-spaghetti bolognese was bland; this is a dish would be nice to have a ladle of marina sauce added. Rigatoni w eggplant had good flavour but eggplant was barely detected. The evening pasta special, how about potato ravioli tasted 100% potato not a hint of halibut, but the sauce was delicious. 4th main, fennel sausage ... was excellent. The staff was kind enough to hold our table as we were not able to be there on time but we were short on time to have dessert. Next time will make sure no one has previous obligations. Our service was excellent
Always great service and great food. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
The best !
Great, authentic Italian eats with friendly service and a relaxing ambiance. Would definitely go again. Felt it to be a bit on the pricier side - but still tremendous value for how delicious all the dishes were!
Our meal at Autostrada was very pleasant overall, with just a few details being a bit off. First and foremost, the service was outstanding. All serving staff that we interacted with were very polite, attentive, and knowledgable, and provided excellent recommendations. We had a few appetizers, which were mostly very good (the meatballs were very good, but not as good as Via Tevere which makes the best I've had in town). The pasta was also exceptional, as was the wine which was recommended by our server.
Now for the not-so-good. The music playlist left a lot to be desired, with no discernible theme, and some odd choices, but nothing truly offensive. My date had a classic Negroni, which was a bit underwhelming, but not bad. Finally the desert we had—the Torta Caprese—was fine, but not particularly flavourful.
All in all, go for the pasta, the wine, and the service. Maybe skip the dessert, or try something that we didn't.
Great food and lovely server. Only negative is being told immediately on being seated by the manager (?) that we had a strict 90 minutes to have our table. Quite a turnoff and definitely did not make us feel welcome or relaxed.
Loved the food! The acoustics aren’t so great but it was a super delicious meal and I will be back for sure!
The pasta was very good but the portions are not generous enough. Not great value.
If you are going to charge $6 for water please have the courage to put it on the menu.
Made a reservation for 7 PM but our party was not seated until 7:45 despite being on time. Food was delicious, but the wait put us off from the beginning of the night
Great Food....Great energy. Will be back. Beautiful Lemon Finish...!!
Food was good, overall experience okay. The server spoke in a soft enough voice that when we were told what the specials were we couldn't hear what they were. It could've been the noise level but I didn't think it was that loud.
I am a pretty regular customer. I always leave happy!
I have been telling everyone I know to try this restaurant. The food is flawless, the wine, divine, the service impeccable, the ambience terrific. I am running out of superlatives.
Fantastic food and amazing service! Will come again and again!
Everything bite and sip was fantastic! Hidden treasure in this part of main. The caesar salad with fresh anchovies is a MUST. Small amount of starting so make the reso. Will definitely come back again
If you are looking for poor service, Autostrada is your place. Their front of house doesn’t seem to understand that she is in a service industry much less a service role. Being made to wait over 30 minutes for a reservation is frustrating, but so easily made better when the front of house is contrite about it, and maybe offers a free drink to make amends. Autostrada’s front of house seems to think that being rude and aggressive is the way to go. It doesn’t matter how good the food is - when that’s the service you’re greeted with, everything tastes sour. If you want good pasta and good service, try Pepinos, Savio Volpe, Di Beppe... Basically, anywhere other than where this woman works.
I’ve eaten here a few times and have to say, I like the food and have had other servers who are excellent. But I’ve had a number of interactions with this front of house that are unpleasant and this was the final straw. If Autostrada wants to do well, I think the changes they need to make (aka, just one) are simple.
Everything was delicious and the service was great! Would have loved a drink to sip on at the bar while we waited for the table, as you were running a bit behind. Otherwise, fantastic!
Great meal at Autostrada. Enjoyed the Negroni menu. Pasta was simple but delicious and perfectly cooked. Its a small space and tables are quite close together, so not a roomy place, but has a buzzy upbeat vibe. Attentive wait staff!
Everything we ate was delicious. A nice change from predictable pasta dishes...not smothered in tomatoe sauce. Nice fresh made pasta perfectly and lightly seasoned.
Good appetizers and deserts.
Limited menu and limited winde selection, but what they have is enough for such a small restaurant.
Attentive service. It is a little bit crowded in that little space, but they've done well with what they have.
Definitely worth a visit! I will be back.
Very salty this time. 4 dishes. All salty.
First of all, out of courtesy, we called to say we would be 10 minutes late, due to the long weekend traffic. They said that’s fine, but it will be taken off your allotted time... ok, we were not aware of ‘our allotted time.’ We should have cancelled the reservation then. We showed up and were rushed from the get go, NOT a place for a celebration!
We were asked at least 5 times if we were ready to order... so we did.
The food was mediocre at best. Small portions of unexciting pasta for $22 or so, each dish. Two of the dishes were cold, one was sent back to get heated up, nobody asked if it was ok afterwards. No offer of fresh pepper or cheese, no extras at all.
We didn’t have time to even think about having an appetizer or salad.
We did mention to the server that we were celebrating a 60 th birthday and she smile and said..basically ‘that’s nice.. times up’
We ordered a dessert, which we share and were charged for.. no big deal but really... no slice of cake for a 60th?
Somebody came by and scooped up our wine glasses and walked away, no question of whether we would like anything else, coffee? Tea? More wine?? Nothing, our time was up!
Next time we will go back to our regular haunt, Giardino. Prices are the same, pasta is better, and you can stay as long as you like!
We did leave and go elsewhere for a nice bottle of wine afterwards, so the evening was not a total disaster.
Don’t waste your time, or your money on Autostrada, it’s just another pasta joint with an attitude.
Food was tasty but slightly too salty! I liked the focaccia bread though! Super soft and flavourful ! The waitress only filled my water when we asked.
Excellent food, friendly staff, a wonderful dinning experience.
Small space, not ideal for larger groups. Seating was a bit cramped. Food was good. Not your average pasta place.
They made a mistake on our bill and overcharged us by $25. We had to drive back and get it fixed. Hassle.
As Italians it's hard to find food that hits close to home but they got it right at autostrada. The food was excellent. And the staff service chefs were wonderful. Answered our questions so well and made the experience that much better. Would go back for sure and try a few other things. I like it when there are specials that aren't on the menu and they had a few. You've got to try the chicken liver pate it was excellent end their pasta rigatoni was done perfectly. They were able to please an 89 year old Italian! It's not easy to make my mother happy when it comes to food at restaurants. Definitely try this place out we recommend it
Chicken pate is boring. Bland. Bring back duck pate. Service at our table was poor. Actually had to get up and tap server on shoulder to get bill...but other tables seemed okay so maybe we were in a blind spot...lol. Nice menu choices. Tasty enough but worth coming from “the drive”? Nope.
Love this restaurant and they recently started taking reservations. Made my reservations 2 weeks in advance. Arrived 3 mins before our booking and then commenced to wait 40 mins for our table. The party at our table took their time which meant the party after us also had to wait for their reservations. Thank goodness it wasn’t raining as the 4 of us waited outside for our reservations.
Great friendly service good food reasonably priced
We had the tagliatelle and garganelli - both were equally delicious. The restaurant does not serve tea (or have honey), but the server offered to go next door to Matchsticks and promptly came back with a London Fog! Such service!
We really liked it! Good food and drinks. Great atmosphere.
We were treated very well by Chef Scott and server Mike. The food was delicious!
Very authentic Italian. Small place so expect it to be very loud. Make a reservation.
Excellent food and friendly service. Tables are too closed together. Can be noisy at times
Overall great evening at this restaurant. We were 4 girls and I couldn’t complain about anything. In particular I found the dick liver starter fantastic and the strozzipreti pasta with duck/pork ragu delicious.
Cozy, no fuss neighbourhood resto with great food, drinks, and service. Small so best to reserve.
Our experience was exceptional. The food was fantastic and the service attentive. We will definitely be back.
Food and service was fantastic! Would definitely recommend to friends for a high scale Italian meal at a reasonable price.
