Austin Java- Manchaca
When we got there they said they didn’t know how I was able to make a reservation and I shouldn’t have been able to do that because they don’t take reservations. They were kinda rude about it and made me feel like I had done something wrong. I just said “ok, understood. My apologies.” They said they were going to honor it this one time, but we still had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Besides that, our waiter was great and the food was delicious as always. Just wish they didn’t shame me for using this app when they’re listed on here. Still don’t think we’ll be coming back, which is crappy ‘cause this was quickly becoming our favorite South Austin family friendly regular place to go. Wish they hadn’t been so rude.
This is my second time to use Open Table for AJ and both times staff seemed confused by us having a reservation. If you are not going to use it, please disable the account.
HOWEVER, we got to sample the new churrono for free and the staff was great all around.
The waitress on our table was great and the food was very good. I like to support local restaurants. The bartender (female) on the bar was rude and did not help when we said we had trouble with their WiFi password. She kept insisting that "it works on her phone" but never actually checked it or tried to help. Don't go there if you need WiFi.
Service was VERY attentive for the 1st 2/3 of our meal, then disappeared for a good while. Great renovation of the space, as we frequented The Bakehouse for many years. Excited to have this wide ranging menu, bar and coffee-shop in our SONA neighborhood!
