Beautiful room; attentive service; special food with thoughtful preparations. Made my wife feel spoiled for her birthday
First visit for me at the 42nd street location, but as wonderful as it was in the townhouse. This Michelin one-star strongly deserves that acclimation. Food, service, atmosphere are all top-notch. Not cheap, but a reasonable value considering the overall experience. Wine list is top shelf, but not a lot of reasonable choices. Very accomodating for those with allergies, which is a nice touch. Overall I would strongly recommend Aureole to anyone who enjoys both excellent food and a wonderful experience, assuming you sit in the Dining Room.
Enjoyed 3 course prix fixe dinner. Very good food, excellent presentation, service could have been better.
The food and service was amazing. We enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. Delicious and our servers were amazing. Informative, funny and engaging. Wonderful restaurant looking forward to returning in the next few weeks.
Dined late, mostly empty which was great ‘cause the usual insane noise level was not a problem.
The staff was amazing and incredible accommodating.
Not enough staff for Mother’s Day
It was mother's day dinner, the restaurant was packed and the service was disorganized . I ordered the only vegetarian main course and my waiter served me a dish with fish in it. I only discovered the fish after I ate my first spoonful. Ugh! The rest of the meal was tasty although they could improve upon the bread. I was also disappointed in the decor of the room , very bland and uninspiring .
I took my mom there yesterday for Mother’s Day. The food was good, but we were extremely disappointed with the service. We went before a show and told our waiter that we needed to be finished by a certain which he said wouldn’t be a problem. But then the shift turned over and when that original waiter left it seems like we were never assigned a new one. We literally watched the ice cream on our desserts melt as we waited for someone to bring them to us. Even then we had to ask a busy boy to bring them over. When we asked for salt and later half and half we had to ask several times. For a nice restaurant that seems to pride itself with good service this was very disappointing and enough for me to tell others not to go there. I certainly can’t see myself going back after this.
For the price and food unbeatable. For Times Square eatery .
Superb! The definition of fine dining, excellent service, food exceeded my expectations. Professional staff. I will definitely be coming back for more!
Loved the pris fix menu, loved the great service, but really miss the old location in a brownstone...now lots of neon lights from Times Square😣
Best food you can find near the the theater district. It’s a Fantastic place; my husband and I go there twice a year every year for our respective birthdays and we always love it.
Came to celebrate Mother’s Day. Food was delicious and approachable; the five course tasting menu was well paced and well rounded. Service was wonderful; attentive without being in the way.
Excellent service. Food wasn't impressive and overpriced for what was served.
An excellent menu and exceptional service greeted us. The food was wonderfully prepared and presentations were beautiful. A nice selection of wine by glass or bottle was available to par with the Entre offerings. Excellent Foie Gras!
The food is spectacular but , alas the service was awful. It began with no one to take our order although we told them we had a curtain. Then the order but no delivery. We waited Waited. Water was not replenished until we asked twice. Then 3 main courses for 4 people. Either the waiter or the kitchen forgot to put one in. Wait or did not notice until we called him over. No apology from anyone about the lapse. Again water glasses remained unfilled. We started at 540 and barely had enough time to get to 8 pm around the corner.
Unacceptable service with no one to complain to
Aureole, whether in the dining room or the bar area, is always great. If your show doesn't run too late, great for post-theater. Delicious food, great cocktails and wine selection, impeccable service. I've eaten here many, many times and I'm sure I'll be back again and again.
The food was wonderful. However, we sat at 5:15 and told our waiter that we would be attending a Broadway show at 7:00. At that time the restaurant was 1/2 empty. He assured us that we would have plenty of time. At 6:30 we still hadn't been served! We had ordered the pre-fix dinner, three courses, which is designed especially for the theater goers. We were REALLY disappointed that we had not been served sooner. We finally called the head waiter over who rushed our order. We then rushed to eat!!!
Overall the restaurant is very nice. Food, service, ambience was very nice. However this is not really a Portuguese restaurant as claimed. Interestingly there was no one from the restaurant staff that was actually Portuguese. A few dishes have Portuguese inspiration but that’s it. Exception for one of the deserts “sonhos” - very well done and like we do it in Portugal - and the Portuguese wines. The selection was very nice and well representative of local Portuguese wines.
In summary the restaurant is worth a visit, not to taste Portuguese but because is a very nice restaurant.
Perfect pre-theater dinning experience; expedient service, great food and good wine choices by the glass.
Though we enjoyed a lovely meal in the Liberty Room, the bar area looked lively and fun. This was the perfect pre-theater venue, a short walk to the show. Probably the best duck ever and the scallops were exquisite!
Outstanding customer service and great food. We were in the city for a show and dinner. Made reservations for diner on Open Table.
I received a phone call a day before to confirm the reservations.
We ordered off the pre fix menu great value and food was outstanding.
Excellent as usual, I live n the neighborhood perfect for weekday dining.
Excellent food- 3 course prix fixe with many choices, superb presentation, attentive yet unobtrusive service, tranquil atmosphere in the formal dining room, excellent breads. An oasis of civility in bustling midtown Manhattan. Cocktails were also perfectly portioned and blended.
Late night reservation. Staff was clearly tired, food was good.
service was top notch and the food was amazing. this is one of my favorite restaurants in the city
I chose Aureole for my friend's birthday dinner because it was near the theater district and also the subway. How delighted I was with the solicitousness of the staff and the taste and presentation of the food! I will definitely return.
We ate at Aureole for a pre-Theatre meal before a Broadway show. It was certainly convenient to the theater. The waiter was attentive to our time constraints, although we allowed plenty of time. The food was good, but not over the top amazing. They also got my order wrong, serving me the filet, when I ordered the Flatiron. I was only charged for the Flatiron, though. My date's duck was very good. We didn't choose the prix fixe since it was early, the choices were quite limited, and we had already eaten appetizers elsewhere. There are so many dining choices in NY, and we don't get there very often, so I'm not sure we'd go back, but there was nothing wrong, just YOLO.
I had 7pm reservations but did not get seated until 7:40pm. I found that totally ridiculous that they were not able to seat a party of 1 at the designated time. Host was apologetic but didn’t go above and beyond to make up for the inconvenience.
The service and Food were remarkable. We had a very nice evening thanks to the attention we received. Perfect timing as well getting us out in time to make our show reservations.
The food as always was lovely.
Consistently fantastic. Can’t wait to go again.
We had a birthday dinner before going to the theatre. The waiter was fantastic and timed everything perfectly so we had time to relax and get to the show on time. BRAVO
Incredible dinner and service- celebrated our anniversary and the entire staff made it very special! Great ambiance-and location.
An establishment clearly in need of leadership. Whomever is running it has lost interest in providing a top quality experience. Not worth the price.
We opted for the Liberty Room since we had 4 twenty-something’s with us who didn’t want to dress up much. Still, tip-top service from our waiter and picked a couple of wines that I always look for but rarely find. Bartenders were on their game and food, as usual, did not disappoint. White asparagus soup was out of this world.
I had the Veal Cheek Special and it was out of this world. The service was great and on time since we had to make it to a broadway show afterwards. I would definitely go back!
Service was excellent. Food very good.
Good The food is very beautiful
