Great experience with excellent food and super high class service
Beautiful restaurant, great location in the theater district. Friendly staff and interesting food
The atmosphere was good, but I was really expecting more out of the food. The risotta was a bit too salty, and there seemed to be excessive butter in most dishes. Overpriced for what you get.
Consistently fine food and pleasant, efficient service. Ideal for a business lunch.
Good value, $69 for 3 course pre-theatre menu. Food was very good, service excellent. Close to Broadway.
Kudos to Aureole again. Consistently outstanding worthy of it's star. For this recent lunch I had the endive salad and the chef was able to substitute haricots verts for the radishes. A simple swith that one would expect in a restaurant of this calibre, but getting harder to find restaurants that can tweak the menu. The bass was perfection. Dessert was creative. Not only was the meal served well but it was perfectly fresh.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Very helpful and attentive staff. Place for a special occasion as it is expensive but worth it for the experience
We went here for a pre-Theatre dinner. Food and service was good. Small negative point is that their street ad says pre-show dinner $55, but the real price is $69. Food, especially the preselected menu is definitely on the expensive side, but on the other hand quite good.
I really liked professionalism which Eric, our table server, demonstrated, fully understood what I needed.
The food was fantastic and the service was great, great place for a business lunch
Very tasty dinner with beautiful presentation. The room looked like it had acoustical panels on the walls and ceilings so the noise levels were pretty perfect for an intimate, romantic dinner. We appreciated that they did not have a strict dress code and that they served us ice in our water. The wait staff were fantastic, helpful but never intrusive. Our 30th wedding anniversary was truly delightful at Aureole.
Amazed that this place doesn’t have more than a one Michelin star. Certainly deserves more. Amazing service, amazing food
We took advantage of the Pris Fixe lunch (2 course $38; 3 course $43), which was excellent value. We both chose the same menu. The Cauliflower soup, poured with panache over baby scallops, was delicious. The sea bass with charred corn and pickled peach was beautifully cooked and very tasty. The Variations of Dark Chocolate was perhaps a bit too chocolatty for my taste (my fault - I should have chosen the carrot cake), but my guest enjoyed it. The service was attentive without being intrusive. All in all a delightful experience.
Always great food, creative but unpretentious and brilliant execution. Great service too. Any very accommodating to special requests
Classy place with great service. Food is expertly cooked and plated but this was my second meal in a row, seafood with a brown butter sauce and personally I find the butter sauce to be over salted. First time I thought it was an error. Second time, I just realize it is not for me. However tuna crudo was great. Rest of the meal was perfectly done. I will be back.
There are much better restaurants in NY. Go to Hells Kitchen and you'll find much better
one word - Superb!!!
Aureole never fails to deliver. From the moment you walk in the door, Valerio is there to welcome you. Make sure you leave enough time for Sean to demonstrate his bar tending skills. The wait staff provides top rate attention without being obtrusive. Aureole continues to be our "go to" place.
Food was overall quite good. Highlights were the cauliflower soup and the tuna. Unfortunately in saying we didn't have a show to attend our table was put on the back burner and our meal took about 2-3 times longer then it should have. The EXTREMELY slow service overshadowed the otherwise quite good food.
Ate in the Liberty Room. Been here many times for pre theater dinner, but not in over a year. They put up shades to block out the view of 42nd Steet and the huge neon billboard from across the street, I guess that’s a positive, the room feels more intimate and relaxed. The food is still generally good although they shrunk the menu and materially raised the prices in the Liberty Room, especially the pre theater special, which used to be a great deal under $60, now $69, fully priced imo. The deserts seemed kind of small, not the over the top creations I used to associate with Aureole. Regards. Ned.
Restaurant was truly wonderful but can’t in good conscious give it the 5 star it should have had.
We had the rib eye for two which was outstanding, but we were NOT presented with ALL the menu options by the server.
My husband had a wonderful birthday dinner except for that one hiccup.
On a visit to New York we treated ourselves to lunch at Aureole and the were not disappointed. The food was very good and the staff very attentive. We would definitely visit again if we were ever back in NY.
The salad was amazing, my entree was excellent. We didn't order dessert, but happened to mention to our server that we were celebrating our birthday's and he brought us over a dessert plate with Happy Birthday on it and a candle at the end of our meal, which I thought was really nice and totally unexpected!
Great spot -
Year's after move to 42nd St Aureole remains a favorite for pre-theater and everyday fine dining
The food was very good. Nothing else was. After telling the wiayer that we had an 8PM show and needed to leave no later than 7:45PM, we signed the check, raced out the door at 7:57PM, left our dessert unfinished and never received the cappuccino's we paid for.
This is the third time this has happened to me at Aureole. I will never dine at this restaurant again, especially pre-theatre.
I used to go to Aureole when it first opened- it was one of the best restaurants in NYC. I think the food and service are still excellent.
You can have confidence that with a Michelin star, Aureole is going to be a very fine dining experience. And it is. But I think the trick to have a fabulous meal at an exceptional value is to go by six and take advantage of the pre-theater menu. There are three choices in each of the categories (appetizer, entree and dessert), and it's easy to find one that's appealing. And after a wonderful meal, there are many theaters within easy walking distance.
Always better than the time before. Never knew what you could do with a duck egg--outstanding. Love a restaurant where the flavors keep surprising you. Wonderful lamb dish. Wonderful service.
One of the best dinners I've had in years. The food is so tasty you're sad when you've finished a course. Each dish that each of (four) us had was reported as outstanding. We'll be back again and soon.
I work across the street from this restaurant and have had many of my business meals there. Sadly, they don’t know how to serve a lunch in an hour or even 90 minutes.
Yesterday our lunch took two hours. I ordered soup and crudo. Two things that take no time to prepare. My companions ordered similar things. We even told the waiter we were pressured for time. He ignored our request and the time between courses was 40 minutes. I warned my companions to ask for everything at once.
No wonder this place is very quiet. Maybe it’s different at dinner. But for lunch there are very few things on the menu that are appropriate and the experience is slow and drawn out. The decor is also very 1980s and not in a good way. The food is decent but very expensive. There are other options nearby where your experience will be far better.
I know that was he last time I will choose to go to Aureole.
Definetly one of my favorite NYC restaurants. Food, staff and ambiance are top shelf. I had tuna crudo and icelandic cod - superb...
They have the best services, foods, and staffs. I loved the atmosphere, the music, and most of all the food.
You’ll also be able to see a wine cellar above you when you’re walking inside of the dining area near the bar. It always caught my interest to how they get up there - by stairs (stairways) who knows.
Love Charlie Palmer and dry creek grill in healdsburg so decided to try signature restaurant in NYC. It did not disappoint food wassooo good. Service was impeccable and friendly. Definitely recommend for a special occasion or if you are on expenses because it is not cheap but well worth the experience
exquisite food and service.
The waitress arrived in the beginning of our arrival wasn't even smiling when she asked us for drinks. Later on with the same waitress I ordered a sweet wine, which she had no idea what I was talking about, had to show her the wine menu again...
The other waiter was more friendly.
But the overall ambience and level of service is way below a 1 Michelin star restaurant, just a decent local Italian restaurant....
Great food and service. Had dinner here twice in the last month. Both times were fantastic.
Beautifully prepared seafood dishes and e celebrate service. Great ambience and perfect for pre-theater dinner.
Wonderful experience. Consistent quality I look forward to returning.
I went with 12 ladies for a pre-theater lunch and they could not have taken care of us any better. The wait staff was attentive and ultra professional. Our waiter was genuinely concerned that we had enjoyed our lunches. The pix fixe lunch was wonderful. Nice portions and delicious. They even manged to get all 122 lunches out at the same time!!
