About Aureole

Charlie Palmer's signature Progressive American cuisine first took root in the original townhouse location of Aureole, where he made an early commitment to farm over factory food. Today, Aureole continues to shine at One Bryant Park under the kitchen leadership of Executive Chef Gabriele Carpentieri. Dining at the contemporary Aureole is staged in two venues: the formal Dining Room and more casual Liberty Room. In the Dining Room, terra-rich colors and golden lighting combine to create a comfortable environment and opulent warm glow, reminiscent of Aureole’s original townhouse intimacy. Evening guests may select from a 3-course prix fixe or tasting dinner menu. For lunch, a seasonal 3-course prix fixe menu is available as well as a la carte selections. Reservations can be made here for the Dining Room only. To reserve in our more casual bar room, please visit Aureole - Liberty Room.

What a wonderful dining experience after a miserable commute to the restaurant. I did call and inform them that due to traffic we would be late. Not to worry, our table was ready and service was outstanding. Service was topnotch due to the "suit" in the dining room, who also handled adult beverage orders. He ran a "tight ship". FYI, dining room is literal as we were not in the more casual space. The food was excellent from the prix fixe menu. I started with the Hamachi crudo, followed by the divers scallops. My spouse had the endive salad and the halibut. Everything was properly prepared and the flavors were beguiling. The wine list is extensive and I found my favorite California chardonnay, Sea Smoke. Just another lovely Michelin starred dining experience.

They gave us a quiet table as per my request and we were happy because the tables near the bar were noisy- it's holiday time in the city so lots of business lunches. The food was excellent- very very well prepared and good ingredients but the portions were very small.

Enjoyed our dinner, the prices are high but well worth it. Food was incredible. We were seated a little late but enjoyed a drink at the bar. Service very attentive, only mishap was that my husband ordered a cocktail and it was missed as we also ordered a bottle of wine.

From the moment we arrived, until we left, we were treated like welcome guests.

We had one pescetarian in our group, but we wanted to try the tasting menu. Molly could not have been more helpful, or kind. She told us that the chef loves a challenge, and they would be happy to create a special tasting menu for my guest or the whole table. Nothing was an inconvenience throughout the entire dinner. The service in the dining room was efficient, unobtrusive, and very attentive. Unfortunately this level of service is not common even in very "Top" restaurants. We never had to hunt for someone, merely glancing at anyone brought immediate attention. The dining room staff, and Molly in particular, deserve recognition.

The tasting menu was spectacular. Each course had some type of seafood, expertly prepared, visually interesting, with a deft combination of flavors. Truly a special meal.
The wine pairings were spot on, with the opportunity to taste wines one might never know to order.

I'm writing this review because my experience the night before is in such stark contrast. I had dinner at a 2 Michelin star restaurant, and while the food was adequate, the service at the start and end of our meal was astonishingly rude and inattentive. Perhaps this is why they are no longer a 3 Michelin star restaurant???

The service, and the food at Aureole surpassed our expectations AND the performance of the higher rated restaurant.

Well Done

My husband and I went to Aureole before a Broadway show earlier this month and it was absolutely fantastic. They offer a prix theater menu but we went with the three course dinner due to more options. The waitstaff was incredibly helpful and very attentive without being intrusive. Our dinner was incredibly delicious! I would definitely recommend Aureole!

We had a late lunch and ordered the prix fixe, 3-course meal. I had the fish and my husband had the veal chop, and both were delicious. The best part of the meal, though, was the wonderful salmon tartare.

First, the good news: your service was exemplary. We had a limited time (1 hour) for lunch and our main dish arrived in 30 minutes, which may have had something to do with its quality.

The bad news: the food was not good.

You were offering a prix fix lunch. I had the fish. My companions had the veal. They said they liked the veal, and I hope they did, but my fish was bland and tough. I regret writing this review because I work 3 blocks away and have had many good meals t Aureole. It is possible that your effort to streamline your memo for the Christmas rush has led to a decline in standards. I will check your menu before I visit you again.

The only disappointing aspect was that the a la carte menu was not available. The only options were very overpriced 3, 5 or 7 course tasting menus. Having looked at the menu before hand there was no way that even the most expensive choices added up to $96 dollars.

The food was however delicious and the service was excellent.

Service was abominable. Entrees arrived to the table cold and we sent them back. This must have annoyed the staff because we were ignored by the staff for the remainder of the evening. The wine we ordered was not served until after the (cold) entrees arrived. The whole thing was inexcusable, assuming Aureole considers itself a quality establishment.

My fish was excellent. My husbands ny strip was cooked perfectly but had so much gristle he had to keep spitting out. When the table was cleared no one noticed his bread plate filled with steak gristle. Good attention to my food allergies. Sommelier knowledgeable and very pleasant.

One of the top restaurants in NYC, not quite on the Bernardin level but close. An oasis of calm and civility in the Times Square area with creative food and professional but not snooty service.

Ours was Thanksgiving Day dinner. All was very well done and our only comment addresses the price for the three course meal. Aureole, when compared to other comparable establishments with ala carte pricing for similar selections, was somewhat overpriced. Quality and presentation was as expected.

We dined at this restaurant for Thanksgiving lunch. On the website they advertised a prix fix Thanksgiving Day menu for $55 per child and $85 per adult. When we arrived this pricing was also printed on our menus.
In our party was my husband, myself and our three children- ages 10, 8 and 6. When the bill came they had charged us for 5 adults instead of 2 adults and 3 kids. I brought the error to our servers attention who said no, the price was $85 per adult. I asked her to check with her manager because the price listed on the menu and the website specified a different price for children. She went and checked with her manager who apparently confirmed that the price was $85- even for kids. A complete discrepancy with their printed menu and their website. I find this false advertising and misrepresentation to be a huge negative.
