About Aureole

Charlie Palmer's signature Progressive American cuisine first took root in the original townhouse location of Aureole, where he made an early commitment to farm over factory food. Today, Aureole continues to shine at One Bryant Park under the kitchen leadership of Executive Chef Gabriele Carpentieri. Dining at the contemporary Aureole is staged in two venues: the formal Dining Room and more casual Liberty Room. In the Dining Room, terra-rich colors and golden lighting combine to create a comfortable environment and opulent warm glow, reminiscent of Aureole’s original townhouse intimacy. Evening guests may select from a 3-course prix fixe or tasting dinner menu. For lunch, a seasonal 3-course prix fixe menu is available as well as a la carte selections. Reservations can be made here for the Dining Room only. To reserve in our more casual bar room, please visit Aureole - Liberty Room.

Went to Aureole as a business lunch; first time there. Restaurant is very nicely appointed and tables very clean and neat.

The food was fantastic; tried 3 items from the small portions menu. The endive salad and portabella mushrooms were fantastic.

Nice atmosphere and a great place to dine with friends, clients or loved ones.

A lovely place to dine. Quiet elegance. The service is wonderful and the food beautifully served and quite delicious.
I had the scallops they melted in my mouth. my husband had the steak...he was very satisfied. Calories or not.....Do not pass up the bread....The whole grain bread is light and so very flavorful. The Budino for dessert was a masterpiece of flavors and design..... Cannot wait to go back.

We were celebrating double milestone birthdays with family. We all had the 3 course prix fix menu. Food was excellent, not outstanding except for the foie gras. The waitstaff was accommodating but for some reason, our sommelier was stingy with his pour as compared with tables nearby. We declined a second glass as a result and unsure of a return trip. Not at all what we'd expected!

Finally a good restaurant in the Times Square area—definitely not a tourist trap. Excellent wine pairings with fois grad torching, halibut and cheeses. All three course were outstanding. The service was equally amazing. My server did excellent wine pairings for each course. Will definitely eat there again on my next trip to the Big Apple.

It took a very long time for someone to clean up the plates. The service could have been better. Also, there was a bug in one of the water glasses.

We enjoyed the restaurant very much, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The only negative comment I had, was I was facing the front window and the pink changing lights from the hotel across the street disturb the ambience. I would use it A different window treatment and block that out, it would make the restaurant a lot more elegant.

My wife and I went to Aureole on Friday night for dinner. We arrived about thirty (30) minutes early and had some drinks while waiting for our reservation time. The bartenders were definitely on the slower side even though the bar was not particularly crowded. We sat promptly at our reservation time in the main dining room which was nice. Our server was great and really made the experience. We chose the three (3) course prefix menu option and the food delivery was well timed. The only real issue we had with the food is that almost all our dishes were overly salted. The salted caramel ice cream for dessert was almost not edible. We did really enjoy the experience at Aureole so we did not complain and were able to finish our meals. In summary we did enjoy the experience at Aureole but don't think we would run right back.

Understaffed. Poorly managed. Took 20 minutes of asking many to get a glass of wine. We were forgotten and the couple beside us were experiencing the same. When the food finally arrived we were too aggravated to enjoy it.

We just celebrated our 15 year anniversary dinner at aureole. From the moment we stepped in and spoke to the host to the moment we stepped out, the experience was top notch and memorable. This is our 3rd time here as a special occasion and we once again did he chefs tasting menu. Each course was beautifully plated and elegantly presented to us. Our glasses were never empty and someone was always coming by to make sure we were ok and if we enjoyed the first few bites of each course. Whenever someone new on the staff came by the table, they wished us happy anniversary. For one night during he year, we love coming to this restaurant to feel like we are getting spoiled.

Now for the food!! The amon bouche was a watermelon and tomato gelatin which was light and refreshing. First plate was thin portobello sliced mushroom salad. Second plate was cucumber and shrimp gel which again was light and refreshing with a great pop of flavor. Third dish was my favorite dish... foie gras with an amazing grilled pineapple drizzle and crispy something. The fourth plate was pheasant with an outstanding butternut squash mash and mushroom purée. Fifth was the tilefish which was as always, flakey and smooth with a buttery silkiness. Sixth was a mouthwatering piece of steak. And last but not least, dessert. One of the best hazelnut gelato I have ever had... plated with a chocolate hazelnut ganache and full hazelnuts. The accompanying chocolate cake had a beautiful red currant sauce with the words happy anniversary in chocolate script. As it was our anniversary, we were also treated to a special glass of sparkling vouvray and for dessert, a delicious madeira. Thank you aureole once again for an amazing anniversary dinner.

Service was extremely disappointing. We had 2 hrs. and 15 minutes to enjoy the 3 course prix fixed before needing to leave for our 8PM show. At the beginning, we were attended by a suited gentleman who asked if we were attending a performance and was very, very attentive. As soon as the food started arriving, we were attended by the regular wait staff. We sat with our half eaten entrees for 30 minutes before we flagged down our waiter at 15 minutes to 8PM asking for the check ASAP. When we asked why we were not being attended and had to forego dessert, he gave us a bad attitude saying he thought we were not finished. Might have been nice if they checked to find out and why bother asking if we were attending a performance if you don't pay attention to timing the 3 courses? My entree was half eaten because I did not enjoy it and decided I'd rather have dessert! The foie gras appetizers we shared were very good though.

Our four top table in the formal dining room was very wobbly, not at the base but at the neck. I addressed the issue with the waitress but nothing was ever done. It was uncomfortable throughout dinner even when just touching the table and should not be ignored at a restaurant of this caliber.
The bathrooms, although beautiful, were not maintained through the night. It was repelling to me and my guests. This was also unfortunate.
The service was off. Very pleasant, but they were clearly short staffed or not able to keep up.
I’m sorry I have to make such complaints since the food was of the highest caliber.

Pre-theatre birthday dinner. Great location. Romantic ambience and great service timed to get us to the theatre on time. We chose the 3 course dinner instead of the five course tasting dinner for the sake of time and the early dinner hour and enjoyed all three courses. Everything was well prepared and artistically presented. Will be back for the five course tasting menu.

Came here on a weeknight for a date and the place was surprisingly empty. Despite being inconveniently located in the heart of Times Square, the restaurant feels intimate, and private. We sat directly across from Uma Thurman.

Grateful for the three course tasting menu; the foie gras was phenomenal. My date and I tried both preparations and enjoyed the complex, complementary flavors that accompanied each dish. The mains were less memorable. I had the pheasant, which was fine, nothing to write home about. The dessert got me. We were totally full by the time it arrived, but I had a hazelnut chocolate mousse that looked and tasted like a giant whipped truffle. Would highly recommend the teas as well.

We took a risk with Aureole, and it failed. We had seen great reviews about Aureole and decided to take a chance on it for a special milestone birthday dinner on a Saturday evening, even though it was a first-time visit for everyone in our party. Things happen, sure. But I simply expect a level of service and experience at restaurants of this reputation and caliber (there's certainly no shortage of such in NYC). In the case of Aureole, we were unanimously deeply disappointed.

1) Promised seating undelivered. I emailed and spoke with a rep several days in advance to alert them that the dinner was for a milestone birthday and to discuss seating options specifically a booth for a party of 6. We were surprised upon arrival, we were seated at a middle table. They could and should have better managed our expectations.

2) Inconsiderate, uncoordinated abrupt seating. We were first guided to the bar as they prepared our table. We settled in at the bar, but it took so long for the bartenders to take our order that by the time he got around to approaching us, the host had come back to take us to our table. We were mid-order with our drinks at the time. Felt extremely awkward and uncoordinated.

3) Promised dessert re-promised and still undelivered. When we ordered dessert, two people in our party ordered a specific dessert. Our server was kind enough to say she wanted to make certain they had two remaining for us so as not to overpromise. She was able to confirm with the kitchen, so imagine our surprise when the desserts were brought to our table and they only had one. By the time they brought a replacement dessert for the one person, everyone else had finished their desserts.

Robert and Molly (servers) did their best, including an impromptu tour for photos on the wine bridge. We appreciated their effort, but overall, hiccups bookended the beginning and at the end of our visit, detracting from our experience, rendering it a severely disappointing one overall.

As usual, dining at Aureole was a wonderful experience. From the time you are greeted at the door to sitting at the bar to entering the dining room, you are made to feel most welcome. Valerio is always ready to accommodate, Sean mixes a fine drink, and the dining room wait staff is extremely attentive without being obtrusive. The food is well prepared and presented. We can always count on Aureole for a special evening.

At this point, I think Aureole is just trading on its reputation. Our appetizers arrived tepid. Our main courses (at a $10 per person supplement to an already pricey meal), except for one slightly warm baby carrot under a small mound of vegetables, were cold. Service was both obsequious and indifferent, if that's possible. Our (cold) food was described in depth but we had to tell our waiter we wanted to order coffee with dessert. My husband left hungry. We've been going to Aureole since it was in a townhouse on the Upper East Side. I don't think we'll be back.
