Servicio, comida excelente
Nice room, good food, slow service
This restaurant is in a great location for pre- and post-theater dinner. The bar is small and somewhat cramped but the bar tenders prepare wondeful cocktails. Service is wonderful and the food is very well prepared. The presentation of the food is worth a picture (I did not take one as it is ridiculous). The timing in between courses is excellent and allows you to enjoy your wine and conversation with your date/spouse. It is worth every penny you invest.
Wonderful pre theatre dinner at the bar. Elevated food, beautiful ambiance. Loved the price fixe. A great value. Highly recommended.
We have been dining at Aureole since it was on the East side. Have never had a bad meal, but the last two times we ate there the service was not “up to par”. Tonight there was a private party, which meant that there was a good deal of chair moving and extraneous noise. At the prices charged, this is unacceptable. Advance notice of this party would have allowed us to cancel and eat elsewhere. Too bad as we have always enjoyed dining at Aureole.
Aureole is a solid, go-to place for top quality flavors. It has never let me down
The staff at Aureole understand that the food, ambience & price is just part of the dining experience.. let me explain..
We have dined here a few times during the year and wanted to celebrate my wife 75th birthday.. I mentioned that she & I have hearing issues & wear hearing aids. We were seated at a really nice table but the couple at the next table were enjoying a boisterous conversation & most people would not be troubled by it .. the staff picked up that we were having trouble hearing each other & the waitress who took our drink order went to the manager who instantly offered to move us to another table & as a courtesy sat us in the dinning room that did not offer the restaurant week special. He waived that and just said “ happy birthday “
Let me go back and say that the food, plating, ambience is special .. they just took our dining experience to a perfect night.
Thanks to ALL of you at Aureole
Wonderful menu & Wonderful service! Great experience!!
What happened? I was so taken aback, I had to ask a server if Charlie Palmer was still involved in the venture. Lackluster is probably the best description. Servers were inattentive, decor is tired, food is decent, but no, you can't really ask guests for $50+ entrees unless you're bringing the whole "A" game. I remember going to Aureole in Vegas when it opened. From the time I walked in the door until last sip of coffee, it was wow, wow, wow. This ain't that. The place was relatively empty on a holiday weekend Saturday night. Fine dining is a competitive business, I get it. But if you're not full on the weekends, I just can't see how this will be a going concern. Too bad. Love Charlie's food. Bring back the wow! How was my duck? Really very good. But if you're looking for a special night out, look elsewhere. On the plus side, I would VERY MUCH recommend the pre theater prix-fixe menu. Looks like a banging bargain for $42.00.
As always, the cuisine is outstanding. Don’t pass up the gnudi starter! On the night we were there, the maitre d’ appeared confused and was inept at handling the pre-theater crowd, and our server overlooked the usual diner cues we have come to appreciate. The management should address this these issues, as the kitchen deserves better floor staff. We will be back to support the kitchen, but wary of inattentiveness in the dining spaces.
This is our favorite restaurant on earth.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary this weekend at Aureole. It was magnificent in every way.
We had a lovely young lady from Munich take care of us; she was knowledgeable about wine, and very pleasant.
Twice within the last 30 days, while dining at Aureole, we have had the best pieces of beef that we have ever eaten.
Please keep it up! :-)
I absolutely don’t expect, at a restaurant with this reputation, to be served wine of a different year than is listed on the menu and I ordered, especially when I asked for pairings. I even less expect to have to point that out myself and be offered no apology from the sommelier. “Explaining” that you have run out of something and why a substitution has been made is not the same as an apology, and therefore inadequate.
The wait staff was lovely and helped to redeem my experience. I would however think twice before booking again.
The creativity and flavors never disappoint! Service was excellent as always!
Suit crowd but two rooms. We weren’t wearing jackets so sat us in back. Ok. Really nice inside. Waiters were cool and food was great. Our Prox fix lunch took over two hours as they sort of got busy. But very good.
A top notch fine dining experience! Service was prompt, professional and welcoming. Dining room was comfortable and noise level was such that it was easy to carry on a conversation. Most importantly, the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the impeccably fresh seafood entrees and look forward to a return visit!
Food was portioned and prepared well. But it was an hour waot for.entre ans anothet hour for desert after the plates.were taken away.
Aureole upped its service level. As frequent clients here, my wife and I have always looked forward to enjoying a wonderful tasting menu. While we were not "assigned" to him, we asked Paco, our favorite server, a question and he promptly saw to it that we could enjoy the tasting menu and make our 8p show. The sommelier knew our glass preference for champagne as well as our preference to keep it off ice. Paco remembered our dessert preference and made the adjustment without asking and surprised us with an extra treat as well. We felt like our regular preferences were recorded and incorporated into our service, which was a new and much appreciated experience for us here. Also much thanks to maitre'd Valerio who always enhances our experiences and helps us in a pinch.
We had the nicest dinner. Angie was our server and she was incredible. The food was really delicious and we couldn’t recommend it more.
We've been enjoying Aureole for over 20 years. It is consistently superb in every way. And in an era of increasing pretentiousness, when chefs seem to be competing to use the most exotic -- even bizarre -- ingredients, Aureole's menu remains approachable and simply excellent. Always a great pleasure.
Superb service and delightful prix fixe menu.
Food was outstanding as always. Service seemed a bit below the normal extremely high standards.
Excellent pre fix lunch!
Beautiful ambiance, however very limited menu. Food was bland.
Loved the staff care of us. It was our anniversary and everyone from the hostess, to bar tender, to multiple wait staff were so kind and made our dinning so friendly and kind. The food was amazing. Savoring it and really feeling it was amazing!
Nice place but have had much better meals in NYC for that price point. Really small portions and very expensive. Not that creative for that price point. Service was very good but won’t be back.
Great restaurant as always. It’s the one restaurant we always return to in nyc.
Just a drop too noisy in the Liberty Room when the room is full. Otherwise terrific!
Delicious! Wonderful prefix menu. Perect amount of food. So delicious!
Great tasting menu. Well thought out and balanced. Great service from the floor team.
Very good food and atmosphere overall. Perfect per-theater place!
Conveniently located if you are going to see a broadway show. Food is good, but the experience is not worth going back for.
So why only 2 stars, it is because their wait staff needs full on restaurant etiquette retraining.
1. Don’t touch your eyes, pick your teeth and then touch and set my silverware
2. Don’t clear your throat while working in a restaurant with guests seated next to you
3. Don’t cough and sneeze straight into your hand and then bring my glass with water
It was like watching preschoolers, I wanted to say something but why? I won’t change them, not durning one dinner.
What would I say...Don’t touch your nose, use your arm to sneeze into and not the palm of your hand. Does their management not see this? I may not be able to make a change in them, but I hope someone else there can.
Maybe they don’t have to worry, with the steady flow of tourists they may not need a repeat clientele.
Our server was fantastic! He was extremely friendly and made great recommendations. The menu was limited but we really enjoyed the time there.
Likely the best pre-theater option
Food choices are great. I would have rated higher except one item came out from the kitchen far too cold--had to remake. Still, a wonderful meal.
Despite informing our server that we must leave by 6:30 for the theater, we did not receive our check until this time and it took another 18 minutes to bring our credit card back to the table, forcing us to run to the theater, ruining our dining experience. In addition, our first course of octopus and shrimp arrive barely warm, not hot.
Innovative, delicious food delivered with top shelf service in a bright, open atmosphere. Best wines by the glass in midtown.
I was on a business trip with four colleagues in NYC this week, and we needed a place for dinner. I suggested Aureole, where I’d enjoyed dining before. As the meal progressed, I became more and more embarrassed by my recommendation.
A friendly waiter took our order, but then we waited a very long time for our drinks to be delivered, and eventually only one cocktail was dropped off at the table. We flagged someone to ask about the other three, which prompted someone else to drop off one more cocktail plus an empty glass (presumably for my wine). At this point our appetizers had been brought out. I was halfway through mine when another person stopped by our table and I asked about the missing wine and the fourth drink. Our waiter then finally appeared, apologized, and asked us what our last drink order had been. Really? We placed all orders together!
Someone finally came and poured my wine, and the fourth drink was delivered as we finished our appetizers. It then took forever for our appetizer plates to be cleared and entrees to come out.
The same long delay happened before desserts came out, even though we had mentioned a curtain time (we had arrived at 6 pm, planning to leave by 7:30 pm).
At the end of our meal, the check was presented with all items charged, despite the significant snafu with our drinks. I would have expected those to be comped, at the very least.
Sadly, I won’t be recommending Aureole anymore.
Excellent food. The ricotta gnudi was delicious! The service us impeccable! Our favorite special occasion restaurant in NYC!
We both had the lamb shank at the suggestion of our server Zach and it was amazing; Michelin star quality really. Five stars is not enough. We will definitely come back often.
I had a business lunch here and the food was excellent and the service was above expectations. The noise level was great for having a conversation and the staff were welcoming and attentive. I have been here numerous times and will continue to visit for a quality meal.
