Aureole upped its service level. As frequent clients here, my wife and I have always looked forward to enjoying a wonderful tasting menu. While we were not "assigned" to him, we asked Paco, our favorite server, a question and he promptly saw to it that we could enjoy the tasting menu and make our 8p show. The sommelier knew our glass preference for champagne as well as our preference to keep it off ice. Paco remembered our dessert preference and made the adjustment without asking and surprised us with an extra treat as well. We felt like our regular preferences were recorded and incorporated into our service, which was a new and much appreciated experience for us here. Also much thanks to maitre'd Valerio who always enhances our experiences and helps us in a pinch.
We had the nicest dinner. Angie was our server and she was incredible. The food was really delicious and we couldn’t recommend it more.
We've been enjoying Aureole for over 20 years. It is consistently superb in every way. And in an era of increasing pretentiousness, when chefs seem to be competing to use the most exotic -- even bizarre -- ingredients, Aureole's menu remains approachable and simply excellent. Always a great pleasure.
Superb service and delightful prix fixe menu.
Food was outstanding as always. Service seemed a bit below the normal extremely high standards.
Excellent pre fix lunch!
Beautiful ambiance, however very limited menu. Food was bland.
Loved the staff care of us. It was our anniversary and everyone from the hostess, to bar tender, to multiple wait staff were so kind and made our dinning so friendly and kind. The food was amazing. Savoring it and really feeling it was amazing!
Nice place but have had much better meals in NYC for that price point. Really small portions and very expensive. Not that creative for that price point. Service was very good but won’t be back.
Great restaurant as always. It’s the one restaurant we always return to in nyc.
Just a drop too noisy in the Liberty Room when the room is full. Otherwise terrific!
Delicious! Wonderful prefix menu. Perect amount of food. So delicious!
Great tasting menu. Well thought out and balanced. Great service from the floor team.
Very good food and atmosphere overall. Perfect per-theater place!
Conveniently located if you are going to see a broadway show. Food is good, but the experience is not worth going back for.
So why only 2 stars, it is because their wait staff needs full on restaurant etiquette retraining.
1. Don’t touch your eyes, pick your teeth and then touch and set my silverware
2. Don’t clear your throat while working in a restaurant with guests seated next to you
3. Don’t cough and sneeze straight into your hand and then bring my glass with water
It was like watching preschoolers, I wanted to say something but why? I won’t change them, not durning one dinner.
What would I say...Don’t touch your nose, use your arm to sneeze into and not the palm of your hand. Does their management not see this? I may not be able to make a change in them, but I hope someone else there can.
Maybe they don’t have to worry, with the steady flow of tourists they may not need a repeat clientele.
Our server was fantastic! He was extremely friendly and made great recommendations. The menu was limited but we really enjoyed the time there.
Likely the best pre-theater option
Food choices are great. I would have rated higher except one item came out from the kitchen far too cold--had to remake. Still, a wonderful meal.
Despite informing our server that we must leave by 6:30 for the theater, we did not receive our check until this time and it took another 18 minutes to bring our credit card back to the table, forcing us to run to the theater, ruining our dining experience. In addition, our first course of octopus and shrimp arrive barely warm, not hot.
Innovative, delicious food delivered with top shelf service in a bright, open atmosphere. Best wines by the glass in midtown.
I was on a business trip with four colleagues in NYC this week, and we needed a place for dinner. I suggested Aureole, where I’d enjoyed dining before. As the meal progressed, I became more and more embarrassed by my recommendation.
A friendly waiter took our order, but then we waited a very long time for our drinks to be delivered, and eventually only one cocktail was dropped off at the table. We flagged someone to ask about the other three, which prompted someone else to drop off one more cocktail plus an empty glass (presumably for my wine). At this point our appetizers had been brought out. I was halfway through mine when another person stopped by our table and I asked about the missing wine and the fourth drink. Our waiter then finally appeared, apologized, and asked us what our last drink order had been. Really? We placed all orders together!
Someone finally came and poured my wine, and the fourth drink was delivered as we finished our appetizers. It then took forever for our appetizer plates to be cleared and entrees to come out.
The same long delay happened before desserts came out, even though we had mentioned a curtain time (we had arrived at 6 pm, planning to leave by 7:30 pm).
At the end of our meal, the check was presented with all items charged, despite the significant snafu with our drinks. I would have expected those to be comped, at the very least.
Sadly, I won’t be recommending Aureole anymore.
Excellent food. The ricotta gnudi was delicious! The service us impeccable! Our favorite special occasion restaurant in NYC!
We both had the lamb shank at the suggestion of our server Zach and it was amazing; Michelin star quality really. Five stars is not enough. We will definitely come back often.
I had a business lunch here and the food was excellent and the service was above expectations. The noise level was great for having a conversation and the staff were welcoming and attentive. I have been here numerous times and will continue to visit for a quality meal.
The food was delicious. The salads were so fresh and the menu offered diverse selections. Being gluten free, I was able to find quite a few items to choose from. Offered a great selection of wines from all over the world and the sommelier was extremely helpful in finding a unique bottle within our price range. We will definitely go back when in New York.
Have eaten here on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent and the service is truly outstanding. I bring friends with me when I visit and they always enjoy everything as much as I do.
Pre theater delight. My husbands rigatoni was the best he’d ever eaten and he is first generation Italian so he is a good judge. Service was spot on and light spirited.
Beautiful presentation of Whole Dover Sole accompanied by potatoes, lettuce, and spinach. Artistically plated!
Professional service. Pleasant ambience. We look forward to returning.
Fine food beautifully served in a comfortable, elegant setting.
Great service. Food was lovely. Great spot to go to before the theatre.
The food was nowhere near the standard we have come to
expect at Aureole. The noise level was loud due to the next
table that had a guest who obviously liked to hear himself
talk - loudly. Our favourite dish had been removed from the
menu even though our server told us he got several requests for it every night.
Food was generally tasteless and over cooked.
For $500.00 I would have expected much more. We will not be returning.
Aureole remains a favorite and worth the trip visit always. Where else in NYC can you find Charlie Palmer in the restaurant boning a fish for a guest with his team - to insure a top experience? Consistency makes the experience and appreciate this team for what they do !
Price fix me u for more-broadway dining. I went with that option and my heirloom tomato salad, short rib, and peanut butter dessert were divine. Creative cocktails and mock tails! Everyone enjoyed their entrees and my dessert was shared. Highly recommend.
We wore dressy jeans, others wore same or dressier.
We had heirloom tomato salad, duck with morels, chicken.
All very pretty and delish, Duck was superb, even the accompanying little mushroom Crepe was fabulous.
Lovely restaurant. Food was top notch and beautiful. My only complaint was the slowness in getting us out of the restaurant despite being aware that we had theater tickets. It is not pleasant to leave a lovely meal only to have to run fiercely to arrive at a theater before the curtain rises.
The service was great ! Food amazing...
This was my first visit to Aureole and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It's a delightful find near the Theater District Top Notch food classy atmosphere and reasonable Prix fixe dinner price for New York City $105.
It lost its specialness. Overpriced and good but not excellent food.
Complex menu with a good variety of great dishes. Excellent presentation and taste. Highly recommend the food.
Greeters and service were very friendly and accommodating. Food service was slow between the courses, and I had to ask them to speed things up towards the end. We spent an hour and 45 minutes there for service from start to finish (party of 6).
Seating was comfortable and clean. Bathrooms were private, modern and clean. Noise level from the other patrons was very high; loud talkers.
Extremely cold, had to ask to do something with the AC
Aureole hamburger totally insignificant and well too dry.
