We had a very good meal. Nice atmosphere. I had the roasted cauliflower appetizer which was very very tasty. I also had the spatzle which also was very good. My husband had the pea soup and the halibut and he enjoyed his dishes very much also. We thought it was very reasonable for New York City even on the cheaper side and it was right next door to the play we were attending. So all in all it was a winner.

This was the worst dining experience in years. The food was good, but at this price point, it should be. Service was ABOMINABLE. My drink came 5 minutes after my husband's - and 3 minutes after our appetizers appeared. I almost sent them back as they were cold and could wait. Had I done so, we probably would have missed our theater curtain. A group of 4 near us waited 25 minutes for WATER. They came to the play with seconds to spare. The sommelier disappeared after bringing our bottle of wine. We asked a bus boy if he could get it, but he had to ask our waiter, who was busy with a party of 18 who were in the dining room, instead of a private room. We will never return. There are too many other options.

We had an excellent pre-theater dinner here and everything was delicious. It was a good value and service was very good. It is a very attractive room with a varied menu and good service - not easy to find a restaurant of this caliber in the theater district.

Fabulous dinner, but it started out very Rocky! We checked in for our 7:30 reservation at 7:02 pm and the host said that it would be a few minutes because he wanted to give us a wonderful location.

So my wife and I let him know that we would grab a drink at the bar. We had a drink and at 7:50 pm the host came over and sat us in at that time was a near empty restaurant. Clearly we were forgotten and I made mention of it and he just smiled and provided an uncomfortable laugh. No apology. Ryan and his team did a great job with the service and the food was outstanding. He did acknowledge that we were made to wait and Although Ryan did disappear at the end, his team was capable. I’ve been to Areole on multiple occasions including a few to Las Vegas and I am not sure I will give it another try.

There are many outstanding experiences to be had without the upset and clearly the restaurant is not truly interested in gaining new customers.

Sometimes restaurants take themselves a little too seriously and this may be the case. I love Charlie Palmer restaurants and frequent them often. This experience has lessened my exuberance.

Per Se has earned the right to be pretentious, but is not. The host at Aureole should remember that. I used to love this restaurant, oh well I am sure they have plenty of guests. I was going to bring a small group, but we will go elsewhere.

Unfortunate!

We went on a Friday evening at 6:15 but weren't early enough for the pre-show tasting menu so ordered a la carte - an app and an entree each. The restaurant already had several tables seated when we arrived and was bustling and extremely noisy by 6:30. However, despite that, both of my dishes arrived cold. I didn't mention anything because our server never checked on how the food came out, and we were time constrained to make a show. The roasted cauliflower and the Scottish salmon both had some lovely flavor, and the fish was cooked perfectly, but getting cold food left me with a pretty negative experience that makes me not desire returning with so many other options in Manhattan. I saw Charlie Palmer walk out of the kitchen area, which made it even more disappointing not to have a great experience. Service was friendly but mediocre, but I did hear a wine steward telling another table they were short-handed that night. Overall, this was just disappointing.

Food is good, room is nice, but it took more than an hour to get our main course and then only because we complained to the manager. Clearly the food had just been sitting in the kitchen since the manager whipped it right out. We were on a tight time table due to theater, so we had to wolf our meal rather than to enjoy it. A major fail!

While visiting NYC, I dined at Aureole with my wife during restaurant week. I would have to say the experience was quite forgettable. It was not such an inconvenience that our table was not ready when we arrived but the host did not even suggest we wait at the bar. After a few minutes, we made our way to the bar and ordered drinks. The restaurant was quite loud - but that could be attributed to 1 or 2 party tables. Our appetizers were probably the best part of the meal - a fresh salad and refreshing gazpacho. My wife ordered the salmon and I took the veal chop. I was impressed that they would offer a veal chop as part of the restaurant week menu but unfortunately, the sauce was way to salty - and I like salt. My wife's salmon seemed fresh and generous in size but was served a little undercooked - and we don't like our food well-done. Yes, we could have returned the plate to the kitchen but, that is not something we do unless there is an extreme problem. It was mostly edible. There was a well-selected wines-by-the-glass menu and the wines we chose were excellent. Our server, Emily, was very helpful and friendly.

I was a bit disappointed. I had gone for lunch 3 days earlier and it was great. Returned for dinner with a colleague and the service was awful. Not a question of being too crowded because we came at 7:30 when most people Were leaving. Our waiter rushed us to order drinks and then didn't bring themfor 10 minutes . He didn't ask how we'd like our entrees (veal and salmon ) and when the veal arrived well done and we complained the response was. "Well that's how it's usually served here and you should have asked first". I've never had that response at Aureole in the past . I realize it was restaurant week but really that was uncalled for. And we each had cocktails and wine so it's not as if we were only ordering the minimum. Another waiter came over and offered to reorder the veal
And it was much better

exceptional food during restaurant week. The veal chop was the best I have ever had: succulent and will flavored. Gazpacho was refreshing and beautifully seasoned , and my friends salmon with bok choy and white beans was balanced and excellent. The cooking reminds me of Gotham bar and Grill with exceptional ingredients, minus some of the theatrical presentation. Service seemed a little disorganized. The room ambiance is understated but a little noisy for my taste. Exceptional value during restaurant week.

Unfortunately the food was very salty (both the appetisers and entrees) according to all four of us. Overall, it was quite an uninspiring dinner - perhaps because of the Restaurant Week promotion? (But then again, one would expect the restaurant to showcase its best, not downgrade the experience). Service was very accommodating.

We went for restaurant week dinner. Both of us liked our appetizers (salad and soup) and the desserts. We split on the veal, one of us liked it more, although we both thought the sides were good. We were pleased to be able to find a bottle of wine that was somewhat reasonable on a very long list. Service, however, was only OK. Our waiter was terrific, but we were clearly being rushed. If they needed our table I might (only might) understand, but, the room wasn't being used for another seating after us. The rush made the meal unpleasant. Despite that, I might recommend Aureole for pre-theater, when everyone is in a rush anyway.

Went for restaurant week AND we were seated in Aureole room - (not Liberty room) .....Thought a mistake but they were seating there if availability! An extra treat as exactly what I wished to do! Bar in Liberty Room pre seating very nice. I thought it all was delightful...service excellent - food great from RW menu - Veal Chop quite fatty so they brought another - a wonderful oasis amid crazy 42nd St.....will definitely return!
Wish they were opened late enough for AFTER theater dining!

Hmmm, the food is good there, but not worth the Michelin one star rating. The sauce they made is the only highlight of the dinner. The salmon was melting in my mouth on the first bite, but after that, there's nothing that surprised me. I even tasted the street vendor food from the dessert😂😂😂 overall, the service was pretty good but the food has to improve.

We went during restaurant week. It was easy reserving a table on the same day. The gazpacho was refreshing and delicious. You could taste the cucumber and the crab. The salmon with the beans was good. The crispiness of the salmon was a nice contrast to the soft beans. The raspberry sorbet was the perfect way to end dinner. Although there a slight wait to being seated and attended by someone once we sat, the rest of the service was excellent.

I have tried this restaurant several times with my friends when we visit NYC. The location makes it perfect for pre theater dinners. However, the location is really all I like. The service was fine and the waiters were knowledgeable. The menu always seems to disappoint our group and the food is generally way too salty. The exception here is the desserts which all are very good. My main complaint with this restaurant is the noise from the bar area. It makes conversation a real struggle. We have been seated in several different locations at this restaurant and they are all noisy. My worst impression here is the restrooms. They are unisex and the men that use them have no manners. They have been absolutely disgusting every time I've been here. If the management thinks it is a good idea to do the restrooms this way, then they should employ someone to keep them clean. Our dining experience here was the only negative element to an otherwise great trip. I do not plan to return.

I specifically called in to inform them its a birthday, but they didnt do anything special. The food was great, the salmon was seared perfectly, but the veggie under it was too oily. The veal chop was seasoned just right but we ordered medium rare but it was served well done. Overall good experience for everyday dining or date, but NOT for special occasions.
