Great place and amazing food
amazing food. weirdly vulgar music not super fitting to their atmosphere. waiter was nice, just never asked if we wanted dessert and brought our check. would definitely go back and recommend !
Not good at all. So many better (and authentic) options in Little Italy
The food was fantastic! We split an individual kale Caesar and it was delicious! The pastas are handmade so we waited a while which was expected. Service was not the best but all the food made up for it.
Worst. Service. Ever. I’ve never waited so long for two bowls of subpar pasta.
I’ve lived in Manhattan for 4 years now and have eaten at a lot of restaurants. I can officially say that Aunt Jakes is my favorite restaurant in NYC
We had a reservation at 8:45 but were not seated until close to 9:30 which was frustrating. Also people who came after us were seated before us even though we had been waiting for a long time and had a reservation. Other than the service, the food was great.
As always we had a great dinner!!
Service was good.
Wine choices were subpar.
Calamari was a bit over cooked.
Food was fair. I had the rigatoni with chicken Bolognese and my friend had pasta and the meatball sauce. .
Aunt Jake’s has really slipped. The last time I went there it was wonderful. This time was subpar.
Great food, good selection, very nice staff, and superb location in Little Italy. When arriving - go down the steps with the string lights! It's easy to miss.
Excellent service, food is fantastic & it’s a fun atmosphere
Nice quiet restaurant. I wish we’d been seated upstairs but didn’t realize there was an upstairs until we’d left. The food took a while to come out but the restaurant was crowded. The food was delicious. The only “complaint” is that the server seemed like he had too many tables but I admittedly want to eat and leave vs linger and it took a while for our check.
We had to wait at the bar for our table. But that was understandable as it was a busy night.
The staff were attentive and courteous. The food was hot and delicious. Only critique was the volume of the music.
It was a solid dining experience.
I made a reservation at 9:30pm, I got there at 9:40pm and they told me the kitchen was closed.
What would they allow for 9:30pm reservations then? Terrible service
Waited very long for our food.. not the “good things take time” kind of wait but the “tables who were sat after you, got their food before you” kind of wait. All in all.. the place was busy and the food was well above average. Would come back.
Extremely poor service. Needed to wave down the waiter everytime.
At first everything was great. The drinks were great and the garlic sticks are amazing. My big issue was that our waiter was no where to be seen for most of the time. Our entrees came out wrong and my fiance got a completely different sauce than what he asked for. His corrected entree did not come out until we were done. Luckily he ate mine, so he was not starving. Then the check had both the correct and incorrect entree on the bill. I told him that. I never correct my waiters about things, my fiance and I have both been waiters and are shy. As a waiter when you make that many mistakes, you should comp or give something extra to that person. Overall what my fiance and I ordered was amazing. The other peoples food in our party was only okay.
Aunt Jakes was just okay. The server messed up our order so we waited a pretty long time for our food. The food itself didn't taste like authentic Italian - but sadly, not many NYC Italian restaurants do anymore!
Pricey but overall delicious
Food, service, atmosphere, all on point! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for great Italian food in NYC!
Server took forever to take our order, and refill water, also they said they don't take Amex, even though they have in the past. They were pretty rude to me to be honest.
The pastas and sauces were excellent particularly the carbonara. The service was terrible, rude waiter who slammed the food on the table, barely made eye contact. Host as well made us feel unwelcome. It was a busy night so service was slow which is understandable but there is no reason to be so rude.
Pasta was not great for home made... pesto was bland
I wanted to like this place a lot more. Handmade pasta made daily, right in the middle of Little Italy, pick a pasta then pick a sauce, what could be better?
Turns out, a lot! Waiter rushed our ordering. We wanted to order appetizers. Then take our time selecting our pastas. We were a party of five. He said we had to put appetizer and dinner order in together. Of course (as we knew) dinner came out while we still had 3/4th of our apps on the table. This is where things really went down hill. We ordered 3 family sized pastas as waiter suggested. Way to much. By at least 50%.
Now the pasta. Handmade right? I was expecting light fluffy clouds of perfection I got thick, dense, undercooked pieces of glue. Rigatoni is hollow right? Nope, solid pieces abt 2 inches long and the thickness of a Sharpie (I was thinking bigger than a pencil😜). Then the sauces - the pesto was weird it was a light green and had to much acid (lemon?). Couldn’t taste basil, parm or pine nuts. Garlic sauce and broken meatball sauce were both good but with the thick pasta just unappealing.
Aunt Jakes was just a disappointment☹️
Everything to like about this quaint gem in Little Italy. Anthony provided great service making us feel right at home. The menu selections of pasta and sauce are great. We will return.
Food was pretty decent, although definitely not the best in the city. Cocktails were excellent. Service, on the other hand, was extraordinarily slow and unfriendly.
The food tastes delicious but I rated it fair because I ordered a large order of pasta and Sunday sauce and there was not enough sauce for the pasta. The pasta just buried it and we had to dig for the sauce and meat. Two small plates would have been better.
I also rated the service fair because although the staff is friendly they brought out the main dishes while we were still eating our appetizers. Who wants to be rushed when enjoying a Friday evening dinner? Focused more on flipping tables but they flipped me to try somewhere else next time.
Fun place to share family style meals - great Sunday sauce along with any meatball dish. Simple wine list to accompany a fine meal. Make sure to share as portions are large - or bring tasty leftovers for the next day!
Great food, service and cocktails. Ended up taking business colleagues there the same week to try even more bespoke pasta options - delicious.
The service was so awful. I’ve been in food and beverage my entire life so I understand being a server during the rush. The food is delicious but the service was so terrible I will never go back. It takes a lot for me to feel that way because of my background, but there was no excuse for how poor the service was. Ruined the experience
The Brushetta was a must have! I would recommend anyone to try it!
The food and ambiance is awesome! Our waiter was nice. However, my parents told him it was my birthday and nothing happened after. No cake, just a plain happy birthday.
Best Pasta dishes I have had in the last 10 Years in a great neighborhood.
Food was very good. Service a little slow but not too bad. Nice restaurant. The other people in there were super loud.
The pasta was great! I had the cavatelli with broken meatball and my friend got the cauliflower gnocchi. It was delicious, and we had a lot of leftovers to take home.
Poor service. Took about an hour to get two plates of pasta while other tables got food much quicker. Small portions for price
The absolute BEST meatballs I’ve ever had, lasagna was delicious and single serving Huge, definitely plan to bring home, I can’t wait to go back!
I am a return visitor to Aunt Jake's - highly recommend! The "pick and choose" menu let's each guest curate their own perfect dish. You can't go wrong with any of the pastas or choices. They have regular entrees available for less creative people (ha!). But part of the fun of dining at Aunt Jake's is picking EXACTLY what you like to both eat AND drink! A personalized experience with top knotch quality and a huge quantity in terms of portion size. Will be back and continue to recommend.
