   We had high expectations for this restaurant, the menu looked promising, not to mention the great location in a beautiful old church. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to what we’d hoped for. The service was very slow; we constantly had to flag someone down just to place an order. The menu wasn’t explained at all, nor was the wine list. There were no suggestions for food and wine pairings, and no recommendations offered for any of the dishes. Honestly, for the price we paid, the service was disappointing and the food did not meet our expectations.

   We have been eager to visit August since it opened. It did not disappoint. Everything was exceptional. The service staff shone as they were efficient, non-invasive yet super friendly and warm. We can’t wait to return and try more of the delicious menu. Such a wonderful addition to the West End/Highgate Hill dining scene.

   Shared a variety of dishes including sardine on toast, golden beetroot with skordalia, stracciatella with figs and garfish. All the dishes were thoughtful and delicious. Service was friendly without being obtrusive.

    August is a great place for a Sunday lunch. With a house selection menu, all the effort is taken care of so sit back, relax and enjoy the delicious plates styled to share. Menu variety is spot-on and creative - offering new tastes and combinations. BYO or enjoy the great selection of international or domestic wines and beers. August offers a calm and classy ambiance with good music and engaging staff. Good job, August 👏 Looking forward to returning for dinner!
