Food was excellent. In retrospect, would have appreciated a little more time between courses. That being said, an evening curfew was going into effect that night, so I understand if they were trying to be cognizant of that. Still, eight courses in 90 minutes was a bit of a sprint.
A few stand outs - the opening seafood dish, that tuna was amazing! The duck course was fantastic. And the pumpkin based dessert course very memorable.
Wine pairings were alright, perhaps the least "bang for your buck" of the bunch, but tasty. Port for dessert not exactly inspired, but the earlier pairings were clearly well considered.
Would recommend.

My husband and I dined here to celebrate our third anniversary. What a wonderful restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing and we loved that the tasting menu was kept as a surprise. You didn’t know what you were about to eat until it was placed on your table! So fun. We would highly recommend dining at this restaurant.

We very much enjoyed our experience eating at Aubergine. They were very accommodating of my pregnancy-related food restrictions, yet I didn't feel like I got a worse menu than my husband because of it. Overall, it did feel somewhat overpriced for what it was compared to similar experiences we've had elsewhere, but during covid we were desperate for something like this and the outdoor courtyard seating (with plenty of space heaters, beautiful flowers/candles, and a tent in case it rained) and social distancing fit the bill.

Great service, amazing food and wine pairing. Love the oysters and crispy duck with pearl onion in particular, but the sauces on everything else also stood out to me. Would definitely recommend coming in for a special meal!

The ambiance and service was very good. Servers were polite and attentive and they did a great job at covering the patio and keeping it warm. The food and presentation for a Michelin Star restaurant was just okay. The cost was reasonable, but I wouldn’t visit again.

Everything was perfect: the patio setting, the beautiful presentations - both food and the ceramics - the creativity.

We were celebrating a birthday, and appreciated the additional tiny mousse cake that arrived.

Service was perfect and the wine pairings were interesting and delicious.

Wonderful experience for a special occasion- it’s like seeing the art and beauty of the grand canyon for example but with your palate, regular views or meals simply won’t be as good/expansive after tasting this food which is inspiring to want to recreate it. Service was great but was expecting the head chef to be more personable. Jonathan was awesome, as was Danny they were genuine pure class. Would have been cool to see the kitchen and talk more with the head chef but all in all a wonderful expierence and we look forward to similar dining experiences in the future. Guests can tend to get a bit loud if tables around you are drinking.

A most excellent experience all the way around. Easy to see why they rate the Michelin Star. It has been awhile, however, since I paid almost $500 a chair. I will save up and return.

After making an on line reservation with identification of food allergy, upon arrival and follow up explanation the restaurant rudely decided not to serve us and abruptly asked us to leave. customer service lacks follow through and clearly didn't bother to read the notification in written reservation. Don't support such a place

This is one of the most outstanding meals I’ve had in months but I dine out at a lot of great places so that’s quite a compliment

This was our second time and AuBergine is just a fantastic experience of culinary delights. We were celebrating our wedding, we were suppose to have a destination wedding in Aruba and covid made us alter plans. We opted for the sommelier pairing with the courses and we could not have been happier with the service of Austin, Dominic and John. Thank you

They did a splendid job of going with my surprise for my parent's anniversary and gave complimentary desserts that were divine. The outdoor ambiance is great and I would highly recommend during quarantine. The courses are definitely focused on the coast, but gave a good variety of meats. Some dishes weren't exactly to our tastes but to each their own.

Absolutely amazing meal!! We paired our food with sommelier’s nightly wine pairing and enjoyed every selection. Food was all delicious and beautifully presented. Our favorite dish was the Spanish mackerel.

We were on time for our reservation but we had to wait 20 minutes before we got seated. But they made up for it with glasses of rosé all-around and; if I remembered correctly, 3 additional dishes on top of the 8 included on the tasting menu. Waiting was not an issue for us understanding the special circumstances with the current pandemic.

Every single dish was exquisite but the standout would be the brioche baked on an abalone shell using Korean charcoal. Okay, I probably just made up that last part. I mean they were excellent at describing every dish then you forget everything after taking a bite of heaven. They seemed knowledgeable and very interactive, answering all our random questions about the food and silverwares, lol, which I liked because it made the whole experience very relaxed and less uptight since they have to do everything in a very formal manner and synchonized hence the Michelin Star.

My family loved Aubergine. We wanted to go again the next day but we only come from humble beginnings. Though, it's definitely worth the splurge

私も同意見。
昨年一つ星のようですが、それ以上の価値があると思います。
印象は

2020年8月の最後の週末に伺いました。
yelpも気にしているようなので、まずはCOVID-19対策(2020/8/28現在)
・全席屋外
・座席の間隔は6feet以上ありそう
・スタッフはマスク着用

ここは2年前に、モントレーに泊まった時に調べていたレストラン。
前日が夫の誕生日で、ラグジュアリーなレストランは屋外席がないところが多いので、まさかそういうところにに行けるとも思わず、ドライブ先としてカーメルを調べたところ、やってる!ということで、その日の朝に予約していきました。

とにかく、私の感想は「最高!」
とても良かった!
特にこんな状況の中では、サイコーの体験でした。
かなり、とても気に入ったので 再訪は確実。
これまでの私の口コミが合っていた人には猛烈にお勧めしたいお店。

さて、詳細を記していきます。
全8コースのお任せのみ、お一人様$200ちょっと。
ワインペアリングは$100超え
最終会計は(COVID-19のせいかどうかわからないけれど)チップ制ではなく、サービス料込みで精算して出してくれます。これが好印象。
すっごく久々のハイエンドレストランだったので、金額を気にせず、ワインペアリング(一人分)、カクテル、最後のお茶もいただいたけれど、このクオリティなら絶対お安い!
そして、とてつもなくバランスがいい!
カルフォルニアのミシュランは星付きでも1つ・2つ星までは、料理は良くてもデザートは甘いとか、この一品はイマイチ、ということも多いけれど、
ここはどれも外さない。素晴らしい。
奇抜さはないけれど、どれも優良と言える料理ばかり。
(白だしなど日本の食材、カクテルも濁り酒などを使っている点が“新しい“と言えるかもしれないけれど、日本人の私からは、割と日本にあるフレンチでもよく出会える味わいが多いので、奇抜とは感じなかったかです。けれど悪い意味でなく、馴染みある味になっていて、その点でも日本人にはオススメです。)
奇抜による落ち着きの無さがなく、めっちゃ綺麗にまとめてくる!という感じ。
この“綺麗さ“に腕前を感じます。

そして、スイーツが…すごいです、めっちゃいいです。
久々にレストランのスイーツで唸るような品に出会いました。
日本でも“チョコレート菓子“は、くどさと甘さのバランスが取れているものは多くない(ジャン=ポール・エヴァンは別)
アメリカでOKなチョコレート菓子はほぼ期待できないが、それを払拭する出来!
チョコレートの質がいいのは確かだと思うが、滑らかでいて甘くなく、チョコレートのコクがあり、とてもいいバランス!
このペストリーシェフはただものではないと思う…
特にブリオッシュ!
鮑の貝殻に焼いて出してくるその趣向も洒落てるけど、
ふあっとして、もちっとして、そんで、溶ける!
こんなブリオッシュ初めて!
日本含めて、これまでの食べたブリオッシュ経験で初めてです。
超〜〜美味しい!
もうこれだけでも、行って欲しい!


カーメルは浜辺の街だからか、他のレストランもそうだったけれど、とても海産物を売り(?)にしているメニューが多く、ここのコースも、海がテーマ(海苔、アワビ、海藻、牡蠣など)海の食材・香りということが多かったです。
この点をとっても、日本人の方には私のような瀬戸内育ちの人間には、とても親しみやすい食材が多いし

COVID-19対策でホテルのパティオ内の屋外席になっていますが、これがまた 逆にいい。
パティオは広々としていて、このホテルの可愛らしい外装の中に、花や植物に囲まれていただけ、雰囲気も抜群。
帰る前に本来のレストラン空間を見せてもらいましたが、かなり狭く、使っていた時はぎゅうぎゅうだったそうです。
ここは2019年に1つ星とっているようですが、確かに、この空間では2つ星以降を狙うのは難しいかも。
逆に、限定的でも今後は数席(あるいは限定シーズン)屋外での提供も考えらえれたら、もっと上の星も十分狙えると思います。
ということで、ここは1つ星以上の価値があるレストランだと思います。

サンノゼから1時間半と多少遠いですが、サンフランシスコのレストランよりもリーズナブルで、素晴らしい体験ができるレストランです。
余裕のある方は、もう一緒にこのホテルで一泊しちゃえばいいと思います。
うちはその余裕はないけど、絶対また来たいレストランとなりました。

COVID-19のせいか予約は取りやすい状況ですし、屋外で安心していただけるので、この時期でもおすすめのレストランです。

Amazing experience. Waiter could have explained the extra charge for the Kobe beef. It was $25/oz with a minimum of 2 oz. The waiter made it sound like it was just an extra $25 for an additional course. Got suckered into this but it was good. Not sure $20 per bite good ...so that was a shock.
