Service was disastrous. We ordered food at 6:15 and our main order only came out at 7. We had to rush and finish before our show
Food was okay. The “bbq roll” ended up being a roll with a traditional Thai peanut sauce.
Food was unbelievable, and our server Michael was so nice and gave us amazing recommendations
Au Lac is the best. We often come before a show at the Dorothy Chandler or Ahmanson and they are beyond accomodating. The food is excellent and we always look forward to coming back.
The food was amazing! Fresh and delicious. Will definitely come back.
Already brought a vegetarian friend who loved it
I was so impressed with the food and service. I'll definitely be back!
This is one of the BEST restaurants in Los Angeles. We had a great birthday dinner, the six of us, for myself and my friends. The service was pristine, family style is best at this restaurant. If you're vegan and/or gluten free, it doesn't get any better than this place. Get the friend fries, the octopus, the paella, the ginger noodles, curried rice, OMG it's all so so good! Thank you Au Lac!
Took a non-vegan here for the first time and he said it was the best plant-based food he'd ever had! Never disappointed at Au Lac!
I was impressed with the food quality. I had the "pork chop" and my son had the "chicken" parm. Both were excellent in taste and presentation. My only complaint was the service was really slow and we ended up late for the show we were going to. It was a Saturday night but the place wasn't really that busy. Since this restaurant is in the theater district, I think it's important to make sure customers are served in a reasonable amount of time and that the check comes as soon as requested.
Amazing food & staff!!!
The food was wonderful as always but I have a problem with OpenTable they did not have our reservation
The restaurant offered good vegan and vegetarian dishes. Ambience was fine, and service was good. Overall, I liked the restaurant except for the parking, but that's just part of enjoying downtown. Great place.
It was a great spot to celebrate our anniversary very near the Ahmanson theatre.
Delicious food, but it adds up.
Au Lac is a gem hidden in a strip mall on 1st street near the Disney Concert hall in DTLA! This is the perfect go to place for vegan food in LA.
Amazing food and outstanding service every time!
What a great find. From the minute my friend and I walked in, it was a great experience. We ordered the fries, a little bit Leary on what they’d taste like. They were delicious. The shrimp was the absolute best. We were swearing that it was actually shrimp. I highly recommend. The curry rice was incredible and was the noodle dish. I can’t wait to go back. The waitress was great with her recommendations. Service was excellent and hardly any wait for the food. I highly recommend this place.
Was not too sure if I was going to like the food. All it took was just 1 bite of the shrimp and I knew I had made the right decision. We ordered the octopus, paella, the shrimp, and the lemongrass fish. Everyone was absolutely delicious!
The food was amazing! We had the shrimp which was excellent especially the cabbage slaw! We also had the ginger basil noodle and curried rice which were top notch. The service was excellent! The only downside was the ambience. The decor was a bit dated. The space seemed sort of large and sterile. Would definitely recommend, but not if you are looking for romantic cozy ambience. More of any everyday restaurant. I wish we had an au lac in the south bay ☺️
This is our new favorite Vegan spot! Definitely recommended!
Went there with family and enjoyed the experience. Service was good. Food was good too but not necessarily life-changing. The sweet and sour main dish was a bit too spicy.
I did not even get to eat. We waited 10 minutes waiting for hostess. After we got seated, 20 minutes later, not a single server came to greet us, even though they saw us. The place wasn’t even that crowded.
The place has awful decor and it was a mess. Dirty towels on top of this empty table...never going back.
Total shame as I heard the food was good and I’m always looking for good vegan food.
So do not recommend this place.
Amazing food and good service. Yam shrimp are unbelievable.
One of my favorite L.A. eateries. The food is creative and delicious. The octopus is amazing. I got the paella this time and lived it. We go before shows at the Ahmanson. Very convenient!
Amazing food!!!! Great food and wonderful waiter and really great server Matt!
The food tasted good although I think you could get a little more for the price. We shared the garlic noodles and tempeh and the tempeh was mostly vegetables. The server forgot a whole dish that we ordered and by the time we realized it wasn’t coming out we decided to just forget about it so we were unable to try the salt and pepper shrimp. Would I return, probably, would I return often, no
This unassuming gem is nestled in a plaza just off of Downtown's administrative and business districts, and was quiet during our Saturday night visit but must really hum during weekday lunches. Without a bar anchoring it down, the chandeliered dining room is as relaxed as the delightful vegan menu Chef has put together. What a menu it is! Summer and I had trouble making decisions, which is a compliment. She had a cold-pressed juice, 'Ruby,' which balances watermelon and pineapple against beets and mint, while I tried one of the non-alcoholic wines, which is sweet and earthy but not without spirit, if you'll excuse the pun.
For dinner we shared Crimini Pesto, a memorable stuffed-mushroom appetizer. The entrees arrived in great time. I had to try the Octopus - battered shiitake mushrooms dressed in a savory glaze and served with a complementing variety of peppers and rice. Summer had the Garlic Noodles, which were absolutely delicious. I'll go back just for my own portion of those noodles.
Our waitress, Audi, made the evening complete. In addition to being attentive and emitting enthusiasm, she presented our coconut-cake with a birthday candle for Summer, and left us with a warm parting gesture which brightened our hearts as much as the food brightened our stomachs. Thank you, Audi! We are very much looking forward to coming back!
Food was really great! Delicious and good sized portions. Waiter was a little spacey but well-intentioned and very excited about the menu . I would go back again . Prices were very reasonable!
Wow, awesome vegan food and very helpful explaining the food options. Glad to see vegan moving into fine dining.
We tried the shrimp Vegan and it looked and tasted like shrimp
Always an Amazing Experience. Great Food, Very Nice Servers, Relaxing Ambiance
Really great and inventive vegan menu. Those items that contained meat replacement ingredients where tasty and pretty representative of what they meant to replace. The ones we tried that didn’t try to replace meat were even better. I will definitely return!
The menu is inventive and tasty. The service is always attentive and helpful. We have brought many friends here and everyones loves it.
Au Lac is amazing! The food is delicious, and affordable. The atmosphere is classy and the service is wonderful! I make it a point to go every time I fly out to LA.
It would make the meal more enjoyable if the restaurant offered beer and wine. The nonalcoholic red wine was so sweet it could have passed as grape juice!
Absolutely delicious! This place is a GEM – so grateful to have discovered it!
Every single thing I've eaten at Au Lac has been delicious. This unassuming restaurant in a strip mall is fantastic.
I have been to Au Lac several times, but this last time was very bad; mostly because the food tasted bad; not fresh and tasted of chemicals; and the value was poor; and I won't be back.
Best Pho I've ever tasted in my life. WONDERFUL service. We ordered too much food and we devoured every last bit of it. The curried rice is sooo yummy, the Chinoise salad is crunchy and delectable, and their fish was divine. We also had their gold juice (edible flower and all) and it was refreshing and delicious.Everything is fresh and they care so much about flavor as well as your experience!
Incredible vegetarian food! It was my 3rd time at Au Lac and won't be my last!
Amazing place in DTLA. I was here more than 10 times during last year and every time was perfect. Super friendly staff, delicious food, and nice interior.
This guys not just “vegan food”, they are vegan vibe! I will come back here more and more to support their vegan way of life!
