I was really impressed with this place. We arrive early and had the pleasure of having a couple of delicious cocktail at the bar. I just asked something with gin and the bartender made something amazing.
The restaurant is open and spacious yet it feel cozy and intimate. We asked to be sited at the 'chef table', an open counter that face the kitchen, so we could look and the manager very kindly accommodated us. Since we were a group and starving we were able to taste most of the menu which propose some classic with interesting twists.
We ask the manager for some suggestions and where all spot on.
First you MUST order theirs smoked bread. Smoked bread... you have no idea how good and warm and delicious it is.
From all the appetizers my favorite was the duck egg with mushroom, but my husband loved the stake tartar and another friend voted for the beet and buttata salad.
From all the main courses the duck was hands down the best dish I tasted in a long time, don't get me wrong also the lamb and the sea scallops special we tried were very good, but i highly suggest you order that duck!!!
The service was attentive and friendly, from the manager which answered our never ending questions to the sommelier who suggested excellent pairing.

Weak service. 90 minutes to receive our entrees. (And, considering we arrived at 5:30, well before any rush, its rather inexcusable. The manager apologized, but really this was a highly rated - not inexpensive restaurant.

We came on a whim after trying their other restaurant Beasts & Bottles which was excellent. It was a Thursday after Valentine's Day about 7:45pm. They were busy and the restaurant had great energy. We didn't have a reservation but the host was really kind and set us up for a cocktail at the bar while he prepared a table. 10 minutes or so later, just enough time to finish our cocktail - which was delicious, we were sat. Our server was very friendly and my wife is a vegetarian and our server was very knowledgeable and made a lot of great suggestions. We didn't realize it but they have a friendly sommelier on staff and one of the owners is apparently a Master Sommlier so they had an incredible wine list! We drank a bottle of biodynamic Syrah which really hit the spot with the smoked duck! Don't miss the house baked potato bread or the wild black bass. Finished the night with carrot cake and a little cognac. Fantastic night and this is the best restaurant in DUMBO in our opinion!
The appetizers were excellent but the entrees were nearly inedible and quite late in coming . The ambiance is lovely and the bar is good - if only the food were better

I took my wife on a surprise date here and it was perfect. The food was absolutely awesome. We had the mussels to start and I tried the NY strip. Both were perfectly cooked and extremely tasteful. The sevice was very good and the feel was comfortable yet eventful. I will definitely recommend Atrium to all my friends.
