This cuisine presents a rich tapestry of spices and herbs – textures and tastes. The regional variances of their cuisine is as vast as their topography and Chef Doug Penfold tries to present an honest and deferential interpretation of this food.
Complementing the food is a thoughtful list of wines and spirits from the great vinicultural regions of the world. The complex cuisine of Morocco allows us to explore Old and New World selections alike, and allows us to enhance the experience through compelling pairings and non-typical offerings.
Unfortunately, we’re told we were there on the last day of the restaurant’s existence.
So amazing... going to miss this gem
Just a wonderful experience. The staff were lovely, the food was exceptional, the space was beautiful. All round it was a really great evening and we’ll be back again.
Fantastic food and experience.
Highly recommend - a great Moroccan experience.
Will be sad to see it go.
Amazing food and service! The beef kefta and the tagine of chicken are musts.
The food was absolutely delicious! The only thing that was weird was the music, which was completely out of synch with a Moroccan restaurant (Elton John and other mellow rock and pop music). The staff said it was a conscious choice because it's a contemporary restaurant and they didn't want to "overdo" the Moroccan theme.
Loved the restaurant, relaxed feel not being rushed , I wish portions were bigger
Excellent food and very good, if somewhat fast service. The evening was perfect. Having spent some time in Marrakech, I venture to say that the menu at Atlas is : "Nouvelle cuisine Marocaine", not "traditional" . We'll be back to sample more of their fare, and I hope to fine a good bstilla on the menu next time ;-).
Fabulous food and attentive service. Lovely relaxing decor. More interesting music selections would be welcome. Wonderful place to share an evening with friends. The lamb tagine is spectacular!
Lovely, absolutely charming room. Very good food -- the flat bread and roasted eggplant were standouts. Also had the chicken tangine which was very good but not outstanding. The service started off well with a very warm welcome and our coats hung up. Nice. But we did not order as many dishes as our waiter recommended and he seem put out by this. As three women we don't need five dishes plus a large shared tangine. In fact, even though we ordered fewer dishes, we still couldn't finish it all. Our waiter was definitely less friendly after that and whisked plates off our table with notable abruptness.
Very disappointing food. Perhaps it was the chefs night off?
Amazing food and prices; casual, comfortable setting, nice location. Service felt a little rushed at first - but they slowed down on request and all good. Definitely return; chicken tangine delicious!!
Quality ingredients and authentic dishes, we definitely appreciated our dinner, although it was really expensive for what we ordered.
Unfortunately the kitchen is open to the main dining area and the entire place smells a LOT. the place will definitely need a more appropriate ventilation system: the smell of cooked meat coming from the kitchen was almost nauseating, so strong that all our clothes and coats smelled for days after leaving the restaurant.
Wonderful! Cosy atmosphere and stellar service. Food was amazing.
Great flavours and some unique dishes combined with a tight wine list. Service was personal and professional.
limited menu. no vegetarian mains. the smalls are overpriced
Really good experience. Seating is quite limited so make your reservation well in advance. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was really cozy. We had the briouat, tagine of lamb, and the chocolate & cardamom tarte. All were delicious. The restaurant is right beside a residential area so it's great if you're looking to have a nice meal and avoid the busy-ness of downtown.
Awesome. Everything was delicious service excellent
Fab food and wonderful experinece
Fantastic fare in a funky environment with an amiable server for a great price. What more could you ask for? Superb.
Absolutely superb! Will go again and again! Particularly loved all the delicious vegetarian dishes. Mmmmmmm
Waitress was not overly good. Very small restaurant so extremely loud. Food was good.
We were very pleased with the quality of the food, will definitely come back again.
Great food, great ambiance and great service! True taste of Moroccan food.
Great food and great service, everything tasted fantastic.
An enjoyable meal of interesting and fresh flavours. We particularly enjoyed the Amlou with Harcha. The whitefish tagine was great, and our servers recommendation to have it with the bulgur salad were spot on - a perfect fresh contrast to the richness of the tagine. The eggplant was also good, but we probably had a little too much food! There was no room for dessert.
A nice newish restaurant in the annex. The food is Moroccan inspired, and quite good. I would not say it the best Moroccan I’ve had, but I lived in Paris for a while, so my standards are high. Prices are fair for a good restaurant
Awesome, start to finish . Eggplant, mushrooms in phyllo, beet salad , white fish tagine. All outstanding!
Food was amazing! Great service! Will definitely recommend to friends and family!
Wonderful food, had the chicken for two, red peppers, and beet salad. Would go back, would recommend to friends looking for a terrific date night dinner.
Small but mighty! We loved the intimate space, delicious food with exciting flavour combinations and excellent service. Not to mention the yummy cocktails and wine!! Perfect date night!
This is not marocain food... more like fusion marocain food. (Only bcs is using marocain spices) My lamb ribs were so fat that I couldn’t eat it. Also What marocain restaurant doesn’t have a lamb t’agite or merguez? Unfortunately there is no good authentic marocain restaurant in Toronto so to cook fusion marocain dishes instead ... is a ‘crime’
We had an early seating. The restaurant is very small so there are 2 seatings. The appetizer was brought out right away. Before we put our fork down the main arrived. It was 50 minutes into the dining experience when we finished the main course. The dessert menu was on the table before we finished our wine. We didn’t stay for dessert because we were too rushed.
Great dips!
Hidden neighbourhood gem, food focused, great flavours, savery + sweet...attentive service too 👍💥💥
Flavourful food, knowledgeable and welcoming staff, and beautiful atmosphere.
The chef's take on Moroccan cuisine was fabulous - we will be back so we can try the rest of the menu!
Great food, great service!
Loved it! Everything thing chef Penfold touches is a winner.
Delicious food. A nice change from the ordinary. Excellent service.
