Athos Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Pleasant server and friendly staff made for an enjoyable dinner. Craft beer prices were comparable to other establishments, and Athos offered a variety of beverage choices. Food was prepared well, although my wife's vegetables on her Chicken Souvlaki plate were a bit more charred than they needed to be. Madedonian Lamb was prepared well, and my youngest enjoyed most of his Vegetarian Plate. Large Greek Salad was enough for four with some leftover to take home. 3 for $10 Pikilia spread choices were delicious. Kolokithakia chips were just OK. Grand total with tax was $162, but that fed four people who did not have room for dessert afterwards.
It was Christmas Eve. The ambiance was perfect and the staff was attentive and cheerful and made our evening special. The fish plaki was tender and flaky and the vegetables were full of special flavors, I could taste a hint of nutmeg. Spectacular. The dolmathakia were almost creamy, so delicious. My daughter is a vegetarian and enjoyed two very large main dish salads without an eyebrow raised. A most relaxing dinner, for sure. Athos is a beautiful restaurant with different rooms to explore. Lovely.
We had been meaning to try Athos out for ages and finally used my birthday as an excuse. We took our teenagers who absolutely loved the appetizers (calamari and dolmathedes) and their dinners (they both got seafood pasta). I got a lamb dish (I forget the name but it was similar to osso bucco) that was so tender and rich. My husband got the bronzini special which he liked, but not as much as my dinner. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the whole evening was lovely. We will go back for sure.
Athos is decorated beautiful for the holidays and the staff was attentive and helpful without being overly present. One of our party eats plant based and the waitress and chef were very accommodating and produced a beautiful plates of vegetables.
Thanksgiving dinner with grandma, wanted vegetarian and healthy and loved it. The food was well prepared, service was first rate and left feeling like we had a terrific meal but not so full we couldn’t move...like so many traditional thanksgiving meals.
This was our first time at Athos, we will definitely return.
Also...we had trouble finding a restaurant open on thanksgiving using yelp and trip advisor, Open Table was the perfect solution, very pleased with how it all worked out.
The food is amazing! I got the Pork Chop and my wife got the Grekolimano. The pork chop was out of this world! The figs, goat cheese and cinamon balsamic reduction topping creates a medley of flavor that explodes in your mouth. The Grekolimano also was delicious, the ouzo sauce brings it all together. Coupled with a great bottle of wine and there is nothing like it! Our server, Shelby, was very attentive, friendly and helpful in making our choices.
We have eaten at Athos many times, but we're disappointed in the food this time. My wife has always enjoyed the chicken souvlaki, but not so much this time. The chicken pieces were huge, but stringy. Is it from an older chicken? We would have preferred the former smaller, more tender chicken pieces.
This was our first time at Athos, but definitely not our last! Everything was spectacular - from the amazing food, to the incredible selection of vegetarian and gluten free options throughout the menu, to our incredible server, Danielle. I can't believe it has taken us this long to try Athos! This has definitely become one of our new favorite restaurants!
Haven't been there in quite awhile. Still really authentic greek food that is not just moussaka and spanakopita. Also, they have an extensive greek wine list.
Glad we went mid-week, because it can be noisy on the weekend.
We will be back if we can't make it downstate to Astoria.
The restaurant offers a lot of delicious options, and the chef is one of the best you can find! We had the chance to try several different dishes and all of them went beyond our expectations. The live music and dances offered that evening were extra experience and pleasure we did not expect.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant!
I have visited Athos on 3 occasions and, each time, I was delighted with my dinner and enjoyed my experience. My husband joined me this past weekend. I have a difficult time choosing what to eat - the portions are generous, the food is fresh and beautifully presented. We started with a Greek salad. It was perfect. I have had the fresh fish entree and it is a treat. This time, I opted for the moussaka and it was simply delicious. My husband chose the lamb. He is picky about lamb and he enjoyed his dinner. The bartender helped with a wine selection and it was perfect for our dinners.
