For more than a quarter of a century, people have been returning to Athens Restaurant for an enjoyable dining experience and friendly hospitality.

Here at the Athens we believe in using fresh & locally sourced (when able & available) ingredients and superior products in our recipes. We prepare most everything in house and to order.

A family run restaurant, we specialize in authentic Greek dishes from our own original recipes, as well as serving an array of other dishes such as Grilled Meats, Seafood, Pastas, Pizza and Breakfast, Brunch and Homemade Desserts. With such a varied menu selection, there is something to please every palette.

Founded by Sam & Areti Panopalis in 1982, the Athens Restaurant has been operated by their son, Evangelos, since their re-opening on Quinpool Road in 1996. We still serve many of the same customers from our original location. At the Athens our patrons are like family to us. We invite you to visit us for a fabulous meal.

Good food. I had the veggie combo and I enjoyed every bite. The roasted vegetables were a bit too oily though. Would go back.

Great local spot for pre movie dinner. Chicken Soulvaki was tasty with greek salad, roasted potatoes and pita bread. We will be back for sure.

Monday 26th August, my friend and I were there for dinner. We were seated and presented the menus. It took a log time for our sever to come me take the order and she said sorry for the wait. Well, actually we were watching them standing around and talking as the restaurant had only few customers. We ordered our food, got two glasses of wine, an appetizer, chicken souvlaki and chicken Parmesan. I wanted a bit more sauce for my calamari but our server never came back and asked how things were. Furthermore the calamari were made using the batter they use for fish and chips. After we finished our calamari she came and took the plate. I noticed that other tables were getting bread but we were never offered bread.

Athens is a very friendly and accommodating restaurant. I am in wheelchair and my daughter has gluten free needs. There has never been an issue with either request. We enjoying going a couple of times a month after church for brunch and fellowship. Will certainly recommend this great establishment to everyone.

This restaurant seems to be popular with all ages of Haligonians. However, the night we visited it fell below our expectations. One of our party ordered the double chicken souvlaki and got pork. The kitchen had left the tsatsiki and lemon off my souvlaki plate. We had come especially for the gluten-free almond chocolate torte but were disappointed to hear that they no longer carry it. So, a good restaurant that could be better with a little more effort.
