A very delightful choice in perfect Yale campus location close to museums, concerts, theater. Simple, clean, white yet sophisticated European bistro atmosphere. Food really excellent even for usual simple things. My beet salad had crunchy almonds and sweet oranges well balanced, The fragrant mussels were the hard to find big meaty ones not the typical tiny not worth it ones, the octopus portion relative to the potatoes and veggies was very small but absolutely deliciously prepared. Oysters a great deal at happy hour. Husband said his mixed drink cocktail was perfect. Knowledgeable French owner Thami.
Best seafood in downtown New Haven. Beautiful restaurant. Oysters and Mussels were glistening with freshness. Fantastic bread. We are always treated so well when we go to Atelier Florian.
We had a lovey time at our Atelier Florian dinner. The food was even better than the last few times we'd eaten there, and the happy hour oysters are the best deal in town! They were so very fresh and so perfectly shucked, no shell! The martinis are excellent as well, though we wish they'd get the white label (dry) Bombay gin, not the Sapphire! The service was friendly, prompt, accommodating, and just right. We'll be back!

We had reservations for 8pm for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It was indicated that it was our anniversary on our reservation. We were seated and the restaurant didn't know. We didn't mention it. It wasn't very busy but we had an average table with people set right next to us even though there were other open tables. The appetizers were phenomenal. We shared the charred octopus and the garden salad. Absolutely delicious. I ordered a glass of Albarino and it was pretty stale tasting. We both had the bouillabaisse, which was quite pricey, and it was nothing special. The sauce tasted like campbell's tomato soup. I was not impressed. The seafood was just ok. The mussels were sandy. The waitress was nice but really could of been better. She didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. We had to ask for a menu. For the price, I expected better service overall. Disappointed.

I would have appreciated if they were more transparent with their pricing, I did not think the take graduation pricing was fair at all. They should have mentioned it on the phone when I called to make the reservation
Graduation weekend dinner that was overall very disappointing. The food was mediocre at best. The service was sub-par with a 20% required gratuity. The restaurant required a non-refundable deposit and did not mention the fixed price menu or its high price. Extremely poor value and inexcusably over-priced. Tarnished the reputation of an otherwise decent bistro.
Perhaps this restaurant would merit praise under normal circumstances. We were seated upstairs at a high top table with a chair missing a lower rung for feet. The hostess handed us a “commencement menu” which was prize fixe at $69. We were not interested in that menu and had chosen Atelier Florian after viewing an online menu with purportedly delicious seafood entrees. We left.
Friendly bistro style dining in New Haven. Excellent fish tacos and happy hour oysters. They were out of vegetarian tacos on a slow night which threw my vegan friend off step. Attentive service and nicely chilled Palm on tap. Im definitely coming back.
3 stars but would have given it 2.5 if possible. I am still recommending to couples or singles that can find a spot at the attractive bar but don’t expect to satisfy any Francophile desires that you may have as they didn’t even have Ricard or any other pastis. Advertising as a French bistro & no Ricard is a big faux pas. 3 of us experienced the Mother’s Day brunch. Simple app of flame grilled peppers came out the same time as 2 of the 3 entrees ordered. Unfortunately mother had to wait a while for her salad entree to be served while her companions had no choice but to eat their entrees as they were eggs. Service was sketchy but every server was pleasant. The food was actually pretty good but plate logistics & value were poor. Noisy when at capacity.
The food was mediocre. My bouillabaisse which was described as a tomato broth tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup. The food took forever.
My second visit was disappointing. Arrived at 6 pm. First, the party number was for 6 not 2, which might've been my fault so I'll own that. But after that, service was mediocore to begin with and went downhill from there. As always, I enjoy the food and the place. But the service was so slow we had to forego dinner to make it to the theater. The manger was understanding and comp the costs of food and drinks we ordered to that point. Still, the overall experience was not good. That said, I would go there again because I like the place.
We celebrated my son’s graduation here but unfortunately the meal or the service was not memorable. Lobster rolls were $26
and had only a minimal amount of meat on them. Seemed to be a lot of meat from the legs - no tail. Shrimp cocktail were excellent, though, and worth the hefty price of $3.75 each.
Excellent food. Reasonably priced. The ambiance is good as well and perfect location in NH. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and gnocchi pasta had a great texture and flavor.

The first floor was lively, but the 2nd floor was quiet. Our server was attentive and answered our many questions easily. The food was fabulous - crispy Brussels sprouts, charred octopus, grain salad, and tuna tartare to start. All were great, but the Brussels sprouts stood out! Entrees were mussels mariniere, bouillabaisse, and seafood pasta. The portions were large and cooked well. Shared the flourless chocolate cake to close down the evening. Great drinks and wine. We'll go back for sure!

A group of four of us went for the first time. We ordered appetizers and small plates. All of us enjoyed the food as well as the cocktails. The server was attentive and friendly. We will return and would recommend to others.
Highlight was spicy carrot soup appetizer. Salmon entree was just okay and served with some type of weird gritty mash thing that wasn't very good.
I ordered the red curry mussels and was given the white wine and garlic mussels. I told my waitress they were the wrong broth. I explained how garlicky they tasted and I couldn’t taste any of the curry, coconut, or cilantro that should have been in the red curry broth. Her response was they started using more garlic in the red curry broth. After my husband tasted it he agreed and her way of rectifying the situation was to bring me a small dipping container of the red curry broth about 15 minutes after she had said she would get it. It was clearly a different broth from what I had not only by looks but by taste. And then had to wait another 15 minutes for our check. Very displeased with the food and service

Great spot for a date night. The gin and sage cocktail was refreshing and delicious. Servers were attentive and friendly. Ordered the baked oysters, which were just okay, but the grilled octopus small plate was excellent. I would definitely come back to try more menu items!
Had a delicious meal at Atelier Florian. Server was lovely-attentive without being intrusive. Our experience in New Haven is that service is a little slower paced than in Manhattan but I think that comes with the territory.
We were there on a Sunday evening which is Happy Hour all day special. Consequently we enjoyed yummy and fresh half priced oysters and cocktails too. Tuna tartar was delicious-even the baguette toast points were delicious. Perfectly lightly buttered and not over toasted, actually worth eating. My daughter wanted plain Brussels sprouts, not prepared in the (yummy sounding) way described in the menu. It was no problem and she got exactly what she wanted. My husband had a delicious seafood pasta. The pasta had a wonderful bright flavor from the lemon that was added to it after cooking (I asked). I had the charred octopus and asked for as little char as possible. It came back barely charred, better than I hoped. We had delicious desserts as well, the Belgian chocolate mousse is scrumptious and served with whipped cream and these gorgeous dark and white chocolate shavings that are so pretty it's like having your dessert served with a kiss. Highly enjoyable experience and we highly recommend. Will definitely go back.
Some of the best service we’ve ever had. Attentive and courteous. We had an 8:00pm theater curtain and it seemed the whole restaurant knew. Made the entire evening so easy. Get the Shishito peppers THEY ARE AMAZING!
This place was nice and the food was solid. My wife thought the mussels were average but I ordered the bouillabaisse and it was excellent. What killed our visit was the service was terrible. My wifes food came out well before mine. After getting our food the server never came by again. She hung out with some guy in the bar the whole night. We had to wait forever to get our check. Based on the poor service I can't recommend this restaurant.

Wanting to break away from the standard Italian or American cuisine choices, my wife and I came across Atelier Florian. The food was very good. Served in a timely fashion. Our waiter made smart recommendations. The one critique for the small plate we shared was the grilled Portuguese octopus. Done exceptional well, but small portion for the price. The Belgium Chocolate Mousse was light, and could actually taste the quality of the chocolate used. Check out Atelier Florian and enjoy the experience.

I keep coming back. I love the environment and the food is really tasty. I like the variety on the menu - I have a hard time choosing.
It was too expensive for what it was. The dishes all seem authentic enough but the flavors do not justify the price and the service was surprisingly erratic given that the place was hardly full.
Met a friend for lunch. Beautiful restaurant. Loved the menu and could have ordered at least four things! We had the Brussels sprouts which were incredible and so sweet. My crab cakes were one of the best I’ve had and the curried mussels were incredible.
Food was very good. Had the tuna tartare, onion soup, steak and chicken. Went late (9pm) on a weekday so it was quiet but not empty. They seat until 9:30 according to OpenTable. We did not feel rushed although I'm not sure it would have been comfortable ordering dessert. Service was too casual to match the quality and price of the experience.
I went to Atelier Florian for a late Valentine's Day dinner. We went to an early dinner on a Sunday so I figured it wouldn't be too packed, and I was right. The food was amazing and the staff were wonderful but there is one seating area where there was a larger group and their conversations were able to fill the entire room. The fact that there is nearly nothing to absorb sound in that cove area by the bathroom is absolutely ridiculous - they weren't talking very loud but it all carried to the other side of the restaurant where myself and my partner were sitting. One other thing I took note of was the size of the tables. The plates that meals are served on are huge and we were not able to fit them all on our table for two. Also, a drink fell of a nearby table and the glass shattered due to their lack of table space.
Aside from those two things, everything was exquisite!
TableScamps Rating: Fantastic. Saturday evening. First visit since conversion from a dark pub some time ago. Perfect risotto with bounteous sea creatures and a yummy sauce. Just-past wilted spinach side with the right amount of garlic. Generous portion of scallops (n=3) over a tasty bed. Genuine lemon sorbet. "Draft" white wine was a very crisp Bordeaux, not a cheapie. A bit noisy, but ok. Excellent service - in our case the server just appeared out of the woodwork at the right time and did the right things without an ask. Next time will request seating upstairs. Nice experience overall.
Thought website said prix fixe was an option in addition to regular menu option, but Valentine’s Day was only prix fixe. Entree was good. Appetizer and Dessert were very average. Menu said champagne for drink and it was Proseco. So ended up feeling overcharged and misled for a less than great dining experience. Prior dining there has been very good from regular menu
