Thought website said prix fixe was an option in addition to regular menu option, but Valentine’s Day was only prix fixe. Entree was good. Appetizer and Dessert were very average. Menu said champagne for drink and it was Proseco. So ended up feeling overcharged and misled for a less than great dining experience. Prior dining there has been very good from regular menu
Overpriced for a tiny amount of average food.
Their message before we arrived was DONT STAY LONGER THAN 90 minutes (it was Valentines Day). Once there we were ignored, the “free” champagne was cheap, courses came out in different orders and we were always looking for our server. After 105 minutes we couldn’t get our bill and waited and waited. Waitstaff and manager were haughty and unfriendly.
I have always loved the food, ambiance. We went for valentines and we were not aware it would be a fixed menu. It was great but not what we expected
Food is great, just a bit overpriced. The lobster roll was a little skimpy on the seafood.
Delightful! Was a birthday gift for a seafood lover and it was a hit.
Excellent place would go there again!!
Everything was fantastic! Starting from the drinks, had two cocktails and let me tell you they do not disappoint tasted great! Appetizers where phenomenal and the main courses for my fiancé and I we’re sensational overall had an amazing experience will be coming to this place again!
I can’t say enough about this restaurant. The amazing service started with my phone call to the restaurant to inquire about vegan entrees. Chef Drew got on the phone with me to discuss my options and was very eager to ensure I would have not only something specific to the vegan diet but more importantly something I would love. The restaurant was very charming and the wait staff was lovely. Chef Drew came out to the table to speak with me more about my likes and dislikes and also explained to me that they were going to be revamping their menu in the future to have more vegan options available and how he really loved the challenge of creating some innovative vegan dishes. Let me tell you this amazing Chef did NOT disappoint! AHHHHMAZZZINGGG, different and delicious are the words that best describe my experience. He also sent out the Brussels sprouts for us to try with no cheese and holy moly these things were out of this world yummy. Family that I was with ordered off the menu and they were in awe of how wonderful their meals were as well. Whatever your likes are, you are sure to find them here. I would recommend to anyone and this place will now be the go to restaurant when I am in town and also for my family that lives here can’t wait to go back and try their brunch menu. Thank you Chef Drew and your staff for a wonderful dining experience!
This was a nice restaurant with good food and service. It was pricey but understandable given that it was New Years Eve. The one bad thing is that there is a step when you enter the restaurant and it is not obvious at all. There is a sign but I didn’t see it. When I walked in the door I fell and really hurt myself. That was not how I wanted to start New Years Eve
Best restaurant not named (and not priced like) Union League in New Haven. Absolutely amazing. Great bartenders, great service and amazing food.
Went for a business meeting and was relatively quiet when we got there for lunch. The server was great and she did a very good job. We were sat immediately and they were very attentive. The food, however, was another story. We got the brussels sprouts and tuna tartare for appetizers. Brussels sprouts were absolutely amazing. I would probably just get those as my side dish next time. Tuna tartare was OK… Had a little too much of a citrus flavor to it. I got the lobster roll as did two others in my party. The bread was delicious, but there was not a lot of lobster on the roll. It seemed that each role had a different amount on it. The cheeseburger was very small. It was supposed to be the regular burger and it was slightly larger than a slider on very thin bread. Nothing to write home about.
We were pleasantly surprised how wonderful the entire experience was. Service was excellent just the right amount of attention. Food was excellent great selections of wine recommended by manager. Will definitely go back.
Not good value for money. I went here for lunch on a Friday at 12:30pm and it was drafty, waitress/hostess said they were out of menus(??) and not enough food for the money. There was only one other group in the restaurant when we arrived. I had always wanted to eat here, but it seems they were having an “off” day.
Family get together
The food had no flavor at all. We went to dinner with 8 people and we ordered a variety of food. All of us left hungry and disappointed.
We went for restaurant week. We felt rushed. The food was cold. The risotto portion was for a child. Maybe it would be better if it wasn't restaurant week.
Very good lobster and fries, but the bread roll was average
I've been here several times and always enjoyed. This time, I took advantage of Restaurant Week because the special menu had a number of choices that looked good. They were! Everything we had was delicious. This was the first time I was seated upstairs and the area while large and comfortable doesn't feel cozy and you miss the energy of the lower level. There was a slight problem but the GM took care of it immediately and then stopped at our table several times to make sure everything was good. It was. It is one of my favorite New Haven restaurants. I love that it has a European feeling and has excellent Belgium mussels.
went there for restaurant week, small portions, average food.
Appetizewere very good including raw bar. Small plates(fish tacos and fish burgers)were a big disappointment. Drinks were overpriced(and I am the farthest thing from cheap). The service was poor as the waiter was of no help and seemed like he did not want to be there.
Nice waiter, but mediocre food and decor. Was disappointed with the experience.
Awesome place with amazing food and service. Will be my go to place and plan to an a large party there too
Ambiance and server were great. Food was ok and luke warm.
The owner was very nice
The atmosphere was intimate yet cheerful. Easy to have a private conversation while still feeling like we were part of the festive mood around us. The food was very well prepared and presented— the roast chicken was a standout but even the fish tacos set themselves apart from an average dish. I would have liked to see a bit more variety on the menu, and prices were a bit high for some entrees.
This is the second time we tried this restaurant. The first time was last year… And it was really good. We went this past Friday, and there were so many things wrong. Service was terrible. We ordered the Bouillabaisse and another meal… The only difference between the two meals was a little cavatelli pasta, and maybe a tiny piece of lobster. I don’t recommend getting the bouillabaisse if you are hungry. Last year we got the salmon and the scallops and it was pretty good. The cocktail sauce for the oysters was really thick and pasty, and not very good. The drinks were very weak, the pair martini tasted like pear juice. It was 7 PM… And they were already out of a few things.
Atelier Florian specializes in seafood, especially mussels, but it not a seafood restaurant as such. The menu is creative and the service attentive. They have a good sized party room where I have organized several successful events.
Overpriced in my opinion. Two scallops for $18. They didn't even have horseradish for the clams which is what we were craving. Waitress was great. Drinks were delicious. $100 + tip for two drinks two scallops and a few clams is pretty pricey in my opinion.
Very nice ambiance with great belgium inspired food.
Appetizers were great. Main courses -steak & ahortribs were dry and flavorless. Stick to the appetizers.
Many other better places to go in Hartford.
Florian provides great food in a casual yet elegant atmosphere. The restaurant offers fresh and austainable seafood and the service is spot on. Great addition to the Chapel West neighborhood.
Birthday. 6 in our party and bar tender disappeared.
Service was marginal. Spent $360. Not worth it!
Appetizers and food were good. Portions were small. Steak was mediocre, I would recommend aging. Dessert was a disaster. Creme brulee made me gag. couldn't swallow the first bite, and the chocolate mousse thing had the texture of being in the fridge for a month. Both had to go back.
the 'Muscato' tasted more like a Reisling X^P
But other than that the food was prepared very well, just small on the portions.
We had a great birthday lunch at Atelier Florian. The staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful in accommodating our family event. The menu was great and food well prepared, and delivered promptly.
We had such a good time that we spent extra time there because our lunch was so enjoyable. Thanks to Atelier Florian!
Just ok, waitress rushed us, wouldn’t answer specific questions. Leaned us only towards the expensive meals. Best suggestion was their grilled Octopus!
Great service and food was very good. Not noisy on a Sunday night. We enjoyed celebrating a family birthday and will be sure to return again.
The food was okay. We had the seAfood burger and it was quite dry to the point of us asking for a sauce to put inside. The crab cakes were better but still lacked sauce. The petite salad that came with the crab cakes was indeed small and very plain. The clam chowder was delicious but I mostly found potatoes in it. Overall ok to good. Definitely not as good as I expected.
Very mediocre for the price. Portion sizes were very hit or miss, had the bouillabaisse and paid about $33 for almost no food. Would not recommend at all, as half our party left hungry.
We’ve been to this restaurant numerous times since they opened. We’ve always had a great meal. This was very different.
The service was horrible and the food was mediocre at best. It took forever to get our food. A table was seated next to us and got their food way before us. I ordered the Boulliabase which was missing the fish and the lobster claw had no meat in it. So we paid $36 for a few pieces of shellfish.
The manager continually apologized and kept forcing free drinks on us (we didn’t want another drink) and then dessert, but we were not going to wait around for a mediocre dessert.
We were very disappointed especially for what we paid for our meal. Sadly we won’t be returning here.
