Atchafalaya Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Lovely service and ambiance. Staff is very attentive and keep the magic of the small yet spacious and beautifully decorated establishment. Food is delicious. If you are looking for local fare this is your spot. All menu items are sourced from local farms and grocers.
I tried the shrimp and grits as they were recommended as some of the best in town. They did not disappoint. While they had their heads on and it was more work than I’m used to, it was absolutely delectable. The andouille gravy was loaded with bell peppers and spices to please any palate without being overly spicy.
The best part, Bloody Mary bar. Ten stars just for that!
Food was pretty good what was impressive was the service we had here. I’ve been to many upscale restaurants and this place did extremely well with their very evident care of our group. Customer service was top notch, the food left something to be desired especially for the cost.
We had a very enjoyable Sunday brunch here. I had the crab spinach eggs Benedict. Delicious! My husband likes simple breakfast food and enjoyed sides of scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes to put together a nice meal. Coffee pours were generous. Service was just right. A rock band played music after 11a.m. Will definitely return.
Atchafalaya is a perfect blend of delicious food, friendly atmosphere, and comfortable surroundings. Details like warm frothy cream for coffee and live music that is entertaining, but now overpowering add to the overall excellent experience of dining there.
Great local eatery with very creative (and delicious) fare. Salads are fresh and tasty as well as a large choice of breakfast type foods and also drinks. Am not a vodka fan so we stayed with the beers but they have a bloody Mary bar that is to die for if you like them . We are tourists that make a yearly trip to New Orleans for the love of it. Always make it a point to eat here on our trips. Can't remember the name of our dish but it was a large meatball of homemade sausage and spices, cheese and breadcrumbs on a stuffed Chayote squash. Wonderful!
Ah, Atchafalaya... an amazing experience. I always love the creativity of the cuisine in New Orleans but Atchafalaya is a step up. First, drinks. They have a version of a Paloma and it was so good, our entire table ordered it. Then it was on to starters. The Boudin & Crawfish stuffed Beignet was voted the best appetizer of our entire trip. Beets in a Cloud were cooked perfectly and rested upon three different sauces, each of which enhanced the beet in a different amazing way. Our entrees included the seared lamb chop and red snapper on special, the fried chicken and the pan-roasted pork chop. We lingered over our wine and we were never rushed by our server. The place has the ambience of a locally loved New Orleans gem, tucked away in a sweet little neighborhood. Loved every minute in this place. Putting it at the top of the "Visit again" list.
The Bloody Mary bar has an extensive selection of additions from which to choose. The premade mixes were delicious and, with the provided ingredients, easy to make the way you prefer.
The food was delicious but the presentation of the shrimp and grits left a bit to be desired. The grits were overwhelmed and melted by the gravy and there were at least 5 unattached shrimp heads in the mix. It's one of my favorite dishes but it was rather unappetizing looking.
My friend's crab cake with eggs Benedict looked and tasted delicious.
The live music was unobtrusive and pleasant.
Overall, a great neighborhood spot to which I'll return.
We went here for breakfast for my husbands 40th bday, everything was amazing. We sat outside and we're able to bring our dogs. The food OMG everything was outstanding especially the cream cheese grits they are sinful. Loved the bloody Mary bar and the vodka pour is a very good pour they do not skimp on it. Our waitress was lovely and took excellent care of us. Love this place and will recommend to any and all looking for some damn tasty food and yummy drinks!! Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience and with leftovers to boot!!
As always, the Atchafalaya team kills it. Really superior food. Such friendly staff. A pretty, low-key place for dinner. Atchafalaya is in the "fine casual" category of restaurant, but there are lots of fine casual restaurants, and few of them as comfortable, inviting and tasty as this one.
Another fabulous meal at Atchafalaya. I had friends visiting from London, and I took them here for dinner on their first night. The food and the service was over the top. The Free Form Crabmeat Ravioli is sublime, but I forget how big and rich it is. I should share it, but then...
The Oysters, the Roasted Beet Salad and Crab Claw special rounded out the starters, and all of them delicious. The Redfish special was fresh and very nicely prepared, and the Fried Chicken with the Cream Cheese Dumplings was a hit with the Brits!
We should have saved this restaurant for their last night, because nothing else this week even came close. Thank you to everyone at Cafe Atchafalaya for keeping me in good steed with the Royals! ;)
Let's start with the staff - awesome. Service was fantastic and spot on - very knowledgable and helpful. Food was simply amazing. The oyster poyboy was delicious with a few interesting twists to the old school resume. Make sure you try the bloody mary bar if you join them for brunch. Don't skip this one.
Was met at front door by the owner, very friendly and inviting. Had fantastic meal at reasonable cost. Then asked owner on way out how far Tipitinas was and if we could walk and he offered to drive us and did. What a gentleman. Would love to return next time I’m in New Orleans and try more dishes. Fantastic.
I hate to say it but I was underwhelmed 😔 After hearing nothing but good things, I expected a better experience. Our reservation was for 2 PM and we waited a little bit for our table.... but not for too long. And this wasn’t an issue at all for any of us. The atmosphere was good, but very loud. All employees were very friendly. The food was not as good as we expected. Two our the dishes came out warm... no where near hot. The waiter and manager promptly took care of this without any problem. They actually brought us new dishes, which we were not expecting. The gumbo also had an off taste... we couldn’t put our finger on it. Maybe a burnt roux? Either way.... one of them was taken off the bill without any problem. Overall, the service was great, but we unfortunately found the food to be lacking.
Went for brunch on Sunday for my daughter's birthday. Great "do-it-yourself " Bloody Mary bar with a choice of several vodkas including 4 from Louisiana, all made from different bases: rice, sugar, grain and/or potato. Low Country Eggs Benedict was outstanding and I was allowed to substitute for the alligator sausage although my daughter stayed with it. Her boyfriend loved his pork belly po-boy and my wife loved her Eggs Louisianne, particularly the crabcake . The birthday (candle) Blue cheese flan was great ! Service was excellent (Lindsey)as was the live band. Great wine by the glass too.
