@ The Deck Ratings and Reviews
they accommodated a party of 8 with no problem. Food was ok, service was ok. Once our food was delivered, was hard to hunt down our waitress, though they were not busy. Everything we asked for, they gave us, but we should not have had to ask for bread, water, basics like that. I was disappointed that at 8 on a Saturday evening, they were already out of one of their main menu items. All in all, it was meh.
We arrived at 7:00 and at 7:40 (outside) still no one had come to our table to bring water or ask if we wanted a drink. Even though I went to gentlemen who did seating twice and twice he told me he was sending someone right over "no one ever came"!
At 7:45 my daughter went to gentlemen who sat us and complained and for the third time he said he would send someone right over so she stood next to him until this "someone" appeared and no one ever came! Then she asked for a manager.
We then asked to sit inside hoping we would get service and they did that and the service was better and the food was great.
The explanation we received was that they just couldnt handle the amount of people! Well it is the summer and it was a saturday night!! They should have been prepared.
Food was good. Not what was expected for a deck sitting. Very good Italian cuisine. Nice views of the water and boats. Slight chill in the air from the water breeze. (Bring a light long sleeve) Had a DJ and corn hole to keep the night going on. Nice find to end a 4 state vacation in Rhode Island.
We always enjoy dining at The Deck. They've done some redesigning of the joint which looks great. Just wish they would upgrade the dining room chairs. Very uncomfortable and too upright. Love the mussels appetizer! Unfortunately, the bolognese was lacking some taste and sauce. Was kind of dry. Everything else was excellent!
The food really was not good. Chicken piccata had a handful of raw garlic dumped on it, the penne vodka had no flavor, was not creamy and was loaded with big onions, and the bolegnese was really just a meat sauce. The only thing that was any good was the steak frites and chicken wings.
Service was great as we showed up a little late and nearly before the kitchen closed. But a fight broke out just outside the dining room which had a lot of the staff running through the dining room to assist- essentially an undergraduate type scene, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. But wouldn't recommend for a quiet wine and dine weekend meal- or at least eat earlier before all of the children come out to play...
three of us went this past Saturday thinking we would have a nice dinner on the water. It was 6:30 and a DJ was playing music. this music was so loud we could barely hear each other. there was also a rehearsal dinner and the people were drinking and loud as well. this place is not as expensive as some others but the food was just ok. I would say if seems to be catering to a younger crowd, so I would not be going again. But if you ARE younger, I would say give it a try.
There are plenty of waterfront dining establishments in Newport. If thats why you are dining here, find somewhere else. The food is undesirable and the service is terrible though not for a want of trying. There are just too many issues to bother writing about. Fine for a drink, but I wouldnt spend any more time or money than that.
They confirmed an indoor table for 4 with me at noon. We got there and there was not a table for us. The manager left the hostess to deal with us. No real apology or compensation was offered. We had to go outside where it was cold and we encountered drunk patrons. The server was quite unfriendly. Overall we were extremely disappointed and do plan to return.
We took a random day trip to Newport and without and great knowledge of the area we relied on open table to provide us options. If you pick The Deck you will not be disappointed. The ambiance, the food, the service and the location were top notch!
The food was good however the service was very slow, especially at the beginning. We were seated and waited almost 30 minutes to get our drinks. When we asked for a refill, we were almost ready to leave when the 2nd round of drinks arrived. Also, the service staff didn't show us the prix fix menu until we had already looked at the al a carte menu. So, there was a bit of confusion about ordering. Finally, the steak frite sauce was too sweet--too much bourbon or molasses. The mussels were great.
