Food was excellent. Service excellent also. We were expecting it to be crowded during restaurant week but it was not and we were not rushed at all. Parking was easy off-season.
Food was very good and absolutely would be a place I would suggest to others.
Great find off the beaten path in Newport. Very friendly and attentive service. Eclectic desserts- Cinnamon Toast Crunch sundae and Fruity Pebbles cheesecake. Worth checking out.
I don't know who to thank for this one - Open Table or @ The Deck - made the reservation and when we arrived at the restaurant, it was CLOSED!!! Obviously very disappointed!!!
We always enjoy going to @ the deck. They are consistent with their great food and service. If you like Frank Sinatra dine on a Thursday.
Great experience and wonderful food. Cozy ambience. Anne is a wonderful person and server. We met the owners and they graciously bought a cocktail for my husband and me. Thank you!
they accommodated a party of 8 with no problem. Food was ok, service was ok. Once our food was delivered, was hard to hunt down our waitress, though they were not busy. Everything we asked for, they gave us, but we should not have had to ask for bread, water, basics like that. I was disappointed that at 8 on a Saturday evening, they were already out of one of their main menu items. All in all, it was meh.
Average, uninspired fare with inconsistent service offset by fantastic views of Newport Harbor and a marina. But we were in shorts and wanted a relaxed dinner as opposed to a good dinner. So it fit the bill.
Terrific evening - manager and staff were wonderful for my boyfriends birthday dinner!!!
Food was great and would recommend to anyone, but there were two partys there that were very loud and kinda of killed the mood.
Food was very good. 6 diners and all gave thumbs up. Great wine list. Been here many times over the years, different owners and chefs, but its still one of the good restaurants in Newport
The location was excellent, water front. We were on vacation in Newport, RI and decided to have dinner at the Deck.
We arrived at 7:00 and at 7:40 (outside) still no one had come to our table to bring water or ask if we wanted a drink. Even though I went to gentlemen who did seating twice and twice he told me he was sending someone right over "no one ever came"!
At 7:45 my daughter went to gentlemen who sat us and complained and for the third time he said he would send someone right over so she stood next to him until this "someone" appeared and no one ever came! Then she asked for a manager.
We then asked to sit inside hoping we would get service and they did that and the service was better and the food was great.
The explanation we received was that they just couldnt handle the amount of people! Well it is the summer and it was a saturday night!! They should have been prepared.
Awful service ... really the worst I have ever had. It seemed as if there were a bunch of kids running the place. Once we got the attention of a waitress that we literally begged for her to help us, she was awesome.
Food was good. Not what was expected for a deck sitting. Very good Italian cuisine. Nice views of the water and boats. Slight chill in the air from the water breeze. (Bring a light long sleeve) Had a DJ and corn hole to keep the night going on. Nice find to end a 4 state vacation in Rhode Island.
Service was slow. Drinks were good. Food was just ok.
Not very good. Waitress could even explain the menu the
Swordfish had strong fishy smell. Fresh fish never smells. Would never go back! Just awful food and overpriced. Even the drinks were lackluster.
Good service. Very busy restaurant with tight space. Some of the items on the menu were unavailable; however, the waiter did not advise until ordering causing a last minute switch. Decent but expected a bit more.
Casual, great device, good food. Great place at sunset.
We will never go back to this place , everything was terrible and the menu had obout four items to choose from, sucked
We always enjoy dining at The Deck. They've done some redesigning of the joint which looks great. Just wish they would upgrade the dining room chairs. Very uncomfortable and too upright. Love the mussels appetizer! Unfortunately, the bolognese was lacking some taste and sauce. Was kind of dry. Everything else was excellent!
This is a bar - it is a pretty cool bar- but the food was average and overpriced, served on plastic, would NOT go back to eat.
The food was absolutely terrible.
Yet our waiter was great
He should work in a finer restaurant
We will never go back.
Did not honor our reservation through open table. The hostess said their system with OpenTable was not working and said they had no tables available.
The food really was not good. Chicken piccata had a handful of raw garlic dumped on it, the penne vodka had no flavor, was not creamy and was loaded with big onions, and the bolegnese was really just a meat sauce. The only thing that was any good was the steak frites and chicken wings.
Make sure you plan to eat inside if you are going for dinner. A very young crowd at the outside bar. Seems to be a "hipster" place t hang out for that crowd. If you are looking to enjoy dinner, eat inside
This was one of the worst meals we've had in s long time. My husband's lamb was fatty and only had a few bites of meat. My meal was over cooked. We actually went to another restaurant afterwards to eat more because it was so bad.
Service was great as we showed up a little late and nearly before the kitchen closed. But a fight broke out just outside the dining room which had a lot of the staff running through the dining room to assist- essentially an undergraduate type scene, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. But wouldn't recommend for a quiet wine and dine weekend meal- or at least eat earlier before all of the children come out to play...
My family had a great time and we look forward to returning. The swordfish was perfect and the cocktail shrimp with the multi colored light in with the ice was a hit with the kids. Great job keep up the great service!
We have had wonderful meals there so we were looking forward to Saturday. The food was mediocre . Will probably not return. On another topic, the $20 parking fee was a ripoff! All day is $20!! We were there for 2 hours in the evening!!!
three of us went this past Saturday thinking we would have a nice dinner on the water. It was 6:30 and a DJ was playing music. this music was so loud we could barely hear each other. there was also a rehearsal dinner and the people were drinking and loud as well. this place is not as expensive as some others but the food was just ok. I would say if seems to be catering to a younger crowd, so I would not be going again. But if you ARE younger, I would say give it a try.
There are plenty of waterfront dining establishments in Newport. If thats why you are dining here, find somewhere else. The food is undesirable and the service is terrible though not for a want of trying. There are just too many issues to bother writing about. Fine for a drink, but I wouldnt spend any more time or money than that.
Enjoyed the swordfish dinner and fishermans chowder. Absolutely amazing!!! Additionally the views of the harbor were amazing.
Obviously waiting for the "Season" to begin
Not up to snuff yet.
Mussels great as usual . Rest of meal mediocre at best. How can beef bourgeion be dry?
Not a foodie spot - but fun for outdoor drinks and a bite -
They confirmed an indoor table for 4 with me at noon. We got there and there was not a table for us. The manager left the hostess to deal with us. No real apology or compensation was offered. We had to go outside where it was cold and we encountered drunk patrons. The server was quite unfriendly. Overall we were extremely disappointed and do plan to return.
The food was good but I thought my meal was overpriced for what I received. I will go back and give it another try.
We took a random day trip to Newport and without and great knowledge of the area we relied on open table to provide us options. If you pick The Deck you will not be disappointed. The ambiance, the food, the service and the location were top notch!
The food was very good and the view from the deck made for a very pleasant afternoon. Our server, Christine made our experience very enjoyable.
