   My sister & I really enjoyed our last meal at Aster. Everything was perfectly cooked & full of taste & texture. I enjoyed the Sunchoke, Winter squash, trout & chocolate dessert. We also enjoyed the wonderful sourdough bread & had all 3 desserts. We were lucky enough to enjoy countless wonderful meals at Outerlands when Brett Cooper was the chef there! Will miss Aster & Brett’s cooking! We wish him well on his move. Enjoyed reading more about him in the Sunday paper too.

   Really enjoy the food and service here, especially the combination of textures and flavors are very impressive. Love the special ice cream Aster offered me for birthday. Aster really surprise me. Highly recommended!

   Though I am generally not a fan of the “choose your adventure” type of tasting menu (I prefer one set menu), the meal was exceptional. I admire the vegetable-centric cuisine, and it appears (based on what I overheard) that they are able to accommodate diners with food allergies; not all restaurants can or will do that. Wine pairings were okay, but I would not add those if I went again, as they didn’t really serve to elevate the dishes. I know they do have a somm on staff, but .. the pairings didn’t really make sense to me. Restaurant decor is clean, rustic (lots of wood), and modern, and the infinity effect of the overhead light is brilliant. It’s seriously like looking up into outer space. Genius. I am glad we went, and would go again in another season if I had infinite money, but -- in terms of value, I do think you get more bang for your buck (and a much more solid wine program) down the street at Commonwealth.

   It was our first Michelin Star restaurant and I must say it was exquisite! The food was amazing and delectable, dancing on our taste buds the whole meal. The four course meal is very filling and worth the admission given the quality of the food. Please don't forget the sourdough bread! Best tip we got before going and another quality thing to add to the meal.

   Each dish was unique and delicious and the service was fantastic. I am a pretty picky eater but try to trust the chef at these restaurants and this one did not disappoint, I loved everything I ate!

    The food is mixed with Asian style, especially Japanese food essence, which is my type. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends. Hope to revisit it again!

    The menu is divided into 4 servings - choice of 3 options per course. The 1st & 3rd courses were superb - the standout dish was fermented squash (sounds horrible, tasted sublime). The second was merely ok but puddings were inedible (beautifully made but flavour profile jarred to our liking). Service was mixed - our main server was friendly but others were quite stiff. To their credit they did deduct one meal from the bill which were not expecting. Not a patch on Rich Table which we went to the previous night or The Progress the night afterwards.

    Delicious food, interesting and accessible. The portions were perfect sizes for the four courses. I love the format of the menu. You have choices based on your mood, but it’s not overwhelming and you know you’re going to get something good regardless of what you choose. The service was excellent.     This was a fabulous meal. The chef does an amazing job with contrasting flavors and textures in each dish. The little gem salad with bottarga and ranch style dressing on lightly sauteed (?) lettuce is a good example. The desserts are intriguing combinations of sweet snd savory ( hickory ice cream?!?!)and are not overly sweet. The wine list is an interesting collection of wines that are not well known including sake. we will be back!

    Food was very good and the wine pairings made it even better. I get this is a tasting menu, but the for the price I would have expected more. Also, when you’re spending $133 per person for food and wine pairing, I think it’s a bit much to charge $5 for four smallish pieces of bread and butter... was a good experience, but won’t be going back. Also, the trout was extremely salty, which is odd for me to say since I really enjoy heavy seasoning generally speaking...

    Aster was disappointing. Not the level of a one star Michelin. Ricotta gnocchi were salty, heavy and the mix of flavors didn't work. Little gems was average. Ahi Tuna was excellent but that's not a hard dish to pull off. Pork and cabbage not very original but good, like the trout. Desserts were good but again nothing I would remember. Service was very good and timing between courses was almost perfect. Only downside to the service: we were presented with the check barely 2 minutes after our dessert plates were cleared! There are so many other one star restaurants in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Aster is not one I would recommend.

    A superb restaurant that doesn't seem to have the acclaim it deserves. Creative, luscious food, relaxing ambiance, excellent service. Four course dinner, three options for each course. A real value at $75. Excellent wine list and wine pairing as well.

    This is a fabulous restaurant, four courses for $75 and three choices in each category...and such imaginative, seasonal, beautiful and delicious food! The service is attentive and warm, the wine list complete, the room quiet and warmly decorated...this is a find and a place to return to many times!

    The meal was very disappointing. Flavors did not work well. Dishes were poorly executed. The roasted heirloom carrots dish tasted like it had fast food bbq packet sauce dumped on it. The texture of the ahi tuna was somewhat mushy. I ordered the gnocchi as my main and there was too much going on on the plate and the gnocchi itself was substandard. Our waitress got the job done but looked like she hated her job. She wore a frown for the entire service. The ambiance was good but the meal itself was not worth the $260 bill.

    We had 6 courses menu for NY eve. The first two courses was just ok, didn’t impress us that much. We liked the next 3 courses, the carrots, caviar and gnocchi, nice tasting and complexity flavors. The dry age beef was good, but it was too salty. Miso sauce took out the flavor the dry age beef and made it too salty. The wine pairing was good. I like most of the wines there. The service was excellent.

    About half of the meal was delicious and well thought out. The other half was poorly executed and left me wanting more. This would have been a good meal at half the price, but for the cost it was definitely not worth it.
