   This was our second visit to try the Sunday roast after a very impressive Supper club visit a few weeks earlier. We wanted to treat our friends who were visiting from Norfolk so we made the 1hr drive to the Schoolrooms on Easter Sunday to sample the wonderful food on offer at the Assembly. Needless to say it was well worth it. We were all amazed and delighted by the portion size of the starters, especially the smoked salmon which was delicious. The roasts were equally delightful, good portion size, plenty of gravy in a surprisingly small little rotund jug each, but for me the star was the roast potatoes… perfection! Then to finish off I made a cheeky request for the dessert I’d had on our previous visit not included in the lunch menu, their homemade rice pudding and of course the fabulous service of this establishment didn’t disappoint, so much to my delight my meal was completed by my favourite dessert! Thank you for a wonderful & memorable experience. The waiting staff, the chefs, the food, the building & ambience are all 5 star* so why wouldn’t you do a 2hr round trip to come here?!    The food was nicely presented and delicious. Excellent value for money. Our waitress was friendly and attentive when we made it to our table. We were told our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we were asked to wait in the bar area. The bar was full of local drinkers, shouting, swearing and jostling which felt uncomfortable. A bad start to an otherwise lovely meal.

   Delicious Sunday lunch with friends. We thought it was the best Sunday lunch out that we'd ever had really and we have had a few! Every element was really tasty, there was a good amount of food, it was cooked perfectly and we all enjoyed every bit. No part was just ok. The drinks were lovely, I had a rhubarb gin and it came in a beautiful glass. The dessert was delicious too, a lovely, light lemon posset. The atmosphere was cosy and the temperature nice and warm but not hot. The decor was inviting and comfortable. All beautifully clean and I liked all the different rooms upstairs. I didn't know it would be so nice and when the bill came, I was fairly pleasantly surprised. Thank you to whoever is running the place and paying attention to the details, it really shows. A lovely afternoon for our friend's birthday. Thank you.

   We travelled just over an hour to The school rooms as we saw a review on Tik tok saying it was really nice and worth the money, the food was beautiful and the service was really was also really good and attentive, have already recommended it to friends and family will definitely be back!

   Good, friendly service. Delicious food - we had the steak pie, burger and chicken champignon followed by sticky toffee pudding, brownie and tiramisu and it was all very good We'll definitely be coming back

   Really friendly welcome despite it being a super busy Mother’s Day lunch, escorted to our table straight away even though we were early , drinks arrived promptly Food arrived without too much of a wait , really tasty,every element of the lunch was beautifully cooked Great experience, every staff member we encountered were really happy to help , faultless customer service Thank you

   Great restaurant. Lovely decor and surroundings. Friendly helpful staff, great food, decent sized portions , good value. I have nothing negative to say! I have two more visits booked already!

    Reading some of the comments, it sounds like they refer to the school rooms cafe downstairs. We booked for Sunday lunch upstairs in the Assembly. Sunday lunch is good value, and all the food was delicious, but starters and desserts can bump up the final bill. There is a 10% service charge, which you can opt not to pay, but our server was lovely so we paid it. 2 people - 1 drink each (pint of lager/Guinness), and 3 courses each - just over £83.
