We have been here before and loved it but this time we were seated in the very back by the bar which was awful as not enough room and too much traffic. The waitress and waiter were literally yelling across our table to speak to the party table at the very back. Every time the waiter served the back table or someone from the back table wanted in or out it was very awkward. Food was spilled in the floor but there was not enough room for anyone to clean it up. We will be back but if seated there again we would leave. Food is great though and our previous experience was fantastic.

Excellent food and service. My first time there for dinner. Prices were reasonable, compared to other good Italian restaurants. I plan on returning.

Our 2nd time there and the food was much better! We had reserved the lovely table for two right at the front bay window. We had a lovely time and received excellent service from Noah. Will make it a regular go to when we are visiting Seattle!

Very lovely space, imaginative menu, excellent preparation and good service. Conversation was impossible due to noise level and table crowding. Still, we enjoyed ourselves and will return next time we are in Seattle.

The setting is nice, the servers well trained and attentive. The pasta is delicious, and there are GF options (not always a given in Italian restaurants).

My son and I went to dinner while we were on vacation in Seattle. We both enjoyed our meals. I ordered one of the nightly specials and it was expensive! But the food was tasty. I would go back again. It was loud and the seats were very close together and people couldn't get by without bumping my chair...but I suppose that was part of the experience? All in all we enjoyed it.

We had a 10 p.m. dinner on New Years Eve and were very happy to be there. The mood was very festive and welcoming and the food was great. Being late, we only shared the calamari and a pizza, and we were treated the same as if we had ordered a 5 course meal. Have recommended Asagio and will do so again.

I wanted to love the restaurant but alas the food was far from good. While I like my pasta al dente this crunchy linguine was far from desirable. They also served mashed potatoes with grilled halibut??? The food was expensive for the quality. While the portions were large you lose interest after two bites. The service was great though. We will not be going back and cannot believe the ratings the food gets. Either people don’t know what quality Italian food is or they don’t have taste buds.

This traditional Italian restaurant in downtown Seattle is well worth experiencing. The food was excellent-I jokingly said I hoped the veal Milanese rivaled what I had in Milan, and it did. The vibe was vibrant. Great service. We will go back.

Our entrees were very good, as was my calamari appetizer and my companions' chef salads. Service was a bit sketchy for a quality restaurant. Our server apologized that they were missing a person, but it took some time to get bread and water. We had to ask twice to get the olive oil dipping sauce that accompanies the bread. It was worth asking as the dipping sauce was outstanding; I want the recipe. The wine list could/should be augmented by more reasonably priced wines; they are out there.

food was superb as usual and servers were great. Only comment was that when the owner saw us sitting down at our table with my wife's service dog he came over and in stead of greeting us, he asked if we had a reservation; our guess is that he was looking for an excuse to ask us to leave.

Love Assaggio! Been going for 19 years and it gets better and better. Food, wine and service is always exceptional. It has a different vibe than other restaurants, more personal, because it is. The owner (Mauro) makes it his mission that your evening will be great. You will not be disappointed!

We had a wonderful family dinner at Assaggio. I had read great reviews and figured this would be a good place to end our annual "downtown day". It did not disappoint. Every dish was delicious and authentic and the service was fantastic.

Still the best Italian food in Seattle. When ever I am up from California this is the one restaurant I always seek out, food is wonderful--the gnocchi with gorganzola and walnuts is to die for, the gnocchi are puffy little pillows that melt in your mouth.

Gosh, I really wanted to like this place. We were greeted by the owner who hugged us both, I really liked that but other than the greeting, the experience wasn't very good. I thought they had homemade pasta, my waiter said the pasta wasn't made there but was "fresh". The Bolognese comes with spaghetti that was not fresh pasta. Sauce, so so. The Ricotta Gnocchi was good, but I think gorgonzola is too strong for such a delicate gnocchi, just my opinion. I ordered San Pellegrino, but got a bottled still water. The bread that came at the beginning was cold and unimpressive. Just all around a fair to not great experience. Sorry, wish I could rave.

The Specials are to die for. The braised Pork shoulder melted in your mouth and the sauce made your taste buds happy. The Seafood spaghetti was exceptional also. The Scallops melted in your mouth, and when you bit into the shrimp they flowed onto your palate soft and delicious.

I was looking forward to eating here for weeks. It had been years since I ate at what I considered an institution.
The owner was friendly and welcoming right at the door. We were seated in the bar which is not what I made reservations for. The bar could have been fine for dining but there were 2 TVs with sports playing! That takes the entire experience down several notches. This is a downtown restaurant during the holidays on a Friday night. I was with my husband and parents and was really disappointed that it did not live up to the expectations I had built up. The service was okay but it was definitely super rushed and that is what really ruined it for me. My appetizer plate with food still on it was taken off the table without asking if I was done. I made our reservation with plenty of time before our show. Everything was rushed through from the time we ordered our drinks to dessert. I expected an experience of an old school Italian restaurant in the city, especially with the owner greeting guests not being seated in a bar with TVs and feeling like I was being turned over as quick as possible.

Had a work team holiday lunch for 10 people. Everything went perfectly and was delicious. Assagio was very welcoming and adapted easily to my special requests by phone and had appetizers ready as requested.
