Assaggio Ratings and Reviews
The food and service was excellent. The restaurant was very loud and the table we had was the worst. It was table 51 and had constant traffic by servers. That is my only complaint. Always love dining here, will just make sure I never sit at this table again.
I do always enjoy eating at this restaurant and we typically visit once during a weekend visit to Seattle area. I would offer that I didn't think the sauce was as good as "normal" for the Gnocchi but it's still fresh and it was good. I also didn't receive a drink I ordered and it seemed like out waiter almost disappeared but thankfully they work as a team and others took care of us and my drink was credited to the tab sure...but it would have been nice to enjoy it all the same.
Having just moved back to Seattle, I hadn't been to Assaggio in years. But the owner recognized me immediately, and everyone took care of us wonderfully. I've always been a fan of the penne alla vodka, but you could throw a dart at the menu and get something wonderful. Can't wait to go back!
Assaggio is one of my favorite places to go for happy hour and dinner. On top of having some of the best food in the city, Assaggio has one of the most welcoming and accommodating crews in the area. If you're looking for some killer food, this is your spot!
Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. I couldn’t decide which delicious pasta dish to have so I had the three pasta sampler and was impressed with every one and will have them all again. The home made lasagna is authentic and fabulous, shrimp and eggplant pasta is to die for and the gnocchi was a great choice for the third, tender and lots of Gorgonzola. I can’t wait to go again when next in Seattle.
Great atmosphere and food. Nice looking bar area. The menu and wine list was impressive. The waitress did a pretty good job, but she forgot our salads, but they were not on the final bill, so no big deal. Maybe she realized that we were going to be too full to need them anyway... At the end of the meal we asked the maître d if she could arrange a cab and she acted like she did not know how to do that... (I guess everyone is supposed to use Uber these days) At a another fine restaurant the night before, this was no problem for the staff. So we had to fumble around and call one ourselves, which turned out OK, but kind of put a damper on an otherwise fun evening.
I had been craving Assaggio for several months. It was a favorite dining spot before we had kids, but we sadly get to return often these days. Finally we got a reservation, though not until 9pm. We took a chance and arrived early, and they were luckily able to seat us right away, which was lovely. Their food is simple, but delicious, and the service has always been quite good. This particular visit was pretty lackluster in the service department, but the food was still tasty, and we enjoyed ourselves. It seemed louder than normal, but it was also a Saturday at 7:30, so to be expected. We just felt kind of neglected by our server, who never once refilled our waters, seemed completely disinterested in checking on us, and took so long to remove our plates that another waiter took pity on us and removed them for us. He simply didn't have much personality nor seemed at all interested in doing more than writing down an order and collecting our check. Just not the service quality we've been accustomed to in the past, but certainly we will return again for some of our favorite food in the city. Highly recommend the scallop ravioli.
The food was very good but very tiny portions. I ordered lasagna and received a child size portion approx. 4 inches square and only one layer. It was delicious but not worth $18 for the size of the portion. The one layer was a first. My friend order the pasta special and received a decent size portion along with the size of the portions the couple sitting next to us received. I ordered dessert so I wouldn't be starved at the concert. I also specified that it was a birthday dinner on my reservation and was not offered a comp dessert which many restaurants offer. Not even a candle on her dessert!!! This restaurant is way too snobbish for me! Service was very slow. We received dinner before we even received the wine we ordered.
Assaggio was ok but not amazing.
We were hoping for more of a traditional Italian experience and that’s not what we experienced. Will go back and try once more; maybe we just chose the wrong things on the menu.
Service was mediocre; slow (though the restaurant was not full), and the wine steward attempted to substitute another wine without asking us first, which felt strange.
We went to Assaggio's for my husband's birthday dinner. While we had an 8:00 reservation we still had to wait a bit for the table. It wasn't a problem as the weather was very nice and gave us a chance to people watch. Upon getting seated it felt like we were somewhat of a burden for our waiter. He was very busy (the whole restaurant was) but it would have felt nice to feel like he wasn't too busy for us. Also when I made my reservation it asked what the occasion was for us and I noted that we were there for my husband's birthday... maybe it's silly of me but I thought maybe that would have been acknowledged during our reservation. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed the restaurant, the food was amazing and everyone (beside our waiter) seemed extra friendly. Would definitely recommend!
We have eaten at Assagios many times when visiting Seattle. As usual, the food was outstanding. What we didn’t care for was the very loud atmosphere and cramped seating. This was the first time we were seated in the room to the right. Our waiter had difficulty serving without bumping into my husband and others as he passed by. It was so loud we couldn’t carry on a conversation. All other visits were nice because we sat close to the entrance near the windows. So much quieter and nicer. If you go, be sure to ask for that area.
