Assaggio Ratings and Reviews
My son and I went to dinner while we were on vacation in Seattle. We both enjoyed our meals. I ordered one of the nightly specials and it was expensive! But the food was tasty. I would go back again. It was loud and the seats were very close together and people couldn't get by without bumping my chair...but I suppose that was part of the experience? All in all we enjoyed it.
We had a 10 p.m. dinner on New Years Eve and were very happy to be there. The mood was very festive and welcoming and the food was great. Being late, we only shared the calamari and a pizza, and we were treated the same as if we had ordered a 5 course meal. Have recommended Asagio and will do so again.
I wanted to love the restaurant but alas the food was far from good. While I like my pasta al dente this crunchy linguine was far from desirable. They also served mashed potatoes with grilled halibut??? The food was expensive for the quality. While the portions were large you lose interest after two bites. The service was great though. We will not be going back and cannot believe the ratings the food gets. Either people don’t know what quality Italian food is or they don’t have taste buds.
Our entrees were very good, as was my calamari appetizer and my companions' chef salads. Service was a bit sketchy for a quality restaurant. Our server apologized that they were missing a person, but it took some time to get bread and water. We had to ask twice to get the olive oil dipping sauce that accompanies the bread. It was worth asking as the dipping sauce was outstanding; I want the recipe. The wine list could/should be augmented by more reasonably priced wines; they are out there.
food was superb as usual and servers were great. Only comment was that when the owner saw us sitting down at our table with my wife's service dog he came over and in stead of greeting us, he asked if we had a reservation; our guess is that he was looking for an excuse to ask us to leave.
Love Assaggio! Been going for 19 years and it gets better and better. Food, wine and service is always exceptional. It has a different vibe than other restaurants, more personal, because it is. The owner (Mauro) makes it his mission that your evening will be great. You will not be disappointed!
Had not been there in almost a year and will not wait another year to go back. The service was over the top, friendly, knowledgeable and atmosphere was spectacular with host and hostess making everyone feel warm and welcomed. Highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!
Gosh, I really wanted to like this place. We were greeted by the owner who hugged us both, I really liked that but other than the greeting, the experience wasn't very good. I thought they had homemade pasta, my waiter said the pasta wasn't made there but was "fresh". The Bolognese comes with spaghetti that was not fresh pasta. Sauce, so so. The Ricotta Gnocchi was good, but I think gorgonzola is too strong for such a delicate gnocchi, just my opinion. I ordered San Pellegrino, but got a bottled still water. The bread that came at the beginning was cold and unimpressive. Just all around a fair to not great experience. Sorry, wish I could rave.
The Specials are to die for. The braised Pork shoulder melted in your mouth and the sauce made your taste buds happy. The Seafood spaghetti was exceptional also. The Scallops melted in your mouth, and when you bit into the shrimp they flowed onto your palate soft and delicious.
I was looking forward to eating here for weeks. It had been years since I ate at what I considered an institution.
The owner was friendly and welcoming right at the door. We were seated in the bar which is not what I made reservations for. The bar could have been fine for dining but there were 2 TVs with sports playing! That takes the entire experience down several notches. This is a downtown restaurant during the holidays on a Friday night. I was with my husband and parents and was really disappointed that it did not live up to the expectations I had built up. The service was okay but it was definitely super rushed and that is what really ruined it for me. My appetizer plate with food still on it was taken off the table without asking if I was done. I made our reservation with plenty of time before our show. Everything was rushed through from the time we ordered our drinks to dessert. I expected an experience of an old school Italian restaurant in the city, especially with the owner greeting guests not being seated in a bar with TVs and feeling like I was being turned over as quick as possible.
Had a work team holiday lunch for 10 people. Everything went perfectly and was delicious. Assagio was very welcoming and adapted easily to my special requests by phone and had appetizers ready as requested. Will return for special larger events based on this experience (in addition to dinners with friends).
We enjoyed being seated immediately up[on arriving at our reservation time. We also greatly appreciated the restaurant seating me at a table where my hearing disability would not matter as greatly as I was seated next to my wife. The food was, as always, very, very good.
