Assaggio Bistro - Kahala
We loved the Caesar Salad (prepared fresh, table side) and our pasta dishes excellent! Baked eggplant, the other eas mushrooms & basil, outstanding! Great service, easy, free parking. (Did I mention how great their bread is, with delicious, soft butter)
I have eaten and enjoyed Assagio’s in Kailua and was surprised to learn about the restaurant in Kahala. The ambiance is lovely, the place large and spacious and food was excellent. I will definitely be back.
I’ve been to Assagio’s many times and quite a fan. The food is good, ambience is nice, and usually the service is great. This last experience was a little underwhelming. Although the food was delicious, our server not only got 2 if our orders wrong but failed to check back with our table. Requests for take home boxes were made and they never came. The person who was clearing off the plates from our table noticed and ended up boxing the extra food for us. I am not quite sure what may have happened but it wasn’t a particularly busy night and the group a few tables away from us were checked on regularly.
We love sitting at the bar - we miss John (bartender that recently left) - however we also love Jerry and glad that he is still here!
Assaggio’s service and menu are reliably the best in comparison to any restaurant we visit.
We always enjoy going - its our place away from home.
We know we always have a nice time. The valet Jerry, service, food, friendliness. ☺️
excellent service, amazing food, outstanding experience! highly recommended!
I’ve been to 3 of the Assagios and I like this one the best. My filet was cooked to perfection! My husbands Seafood Combo was so so good too.
The food is always delicious and met a longtime friend and had a nice lunch
I love the food here. So delicious. I always get the Clams with red sauce.
Always enjoy eating at Assagio's Kahala. Service and food always good.
We had reservations to dine at Asiago on Saturday night. This was not our first time to dine at this location.
We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Water, bread and butter were brought within a few minutes. After 20 minutes we still had not had anyone come to our table to take our for drinks or food.
A manager was found and his reply was “we’re slammed tonight “.
After another 5 minutes we left the restaurant. When we informed the front desk we received “sorry”
The best veal dishes
We always go there.
Maybe it was an off night. Usually the service and food is superb. Tonight the chicken was dry and over cooked. We were seated in a section with 1 waiter. Understaffed tonight, so it was not a terrific experience.
Great food. Super sweet staff! Quiet and food comes out fast and delicious. Huge portions!
Didn't like how our table directly faced the entry door—we saw everyone coming in and going out. I think there could have been some kind of screen there for a little more privacy. Our waiter was great. My entree was mediocre, though my husband's was ok.
I've always loved the Assaggio restaurants. When they opened this location, I was skeptical. It is now my favorite. Although the Koko Marina location is closer, the Bistro far surpasses it in all areas. The employees are truly nice, helpful, knowledgeable, down to earth and accommodating, and the food is better. The only downsides are the parking can be inconvenient. There is valet if the small parking lot is full - but even then, the valet helpfully told us parking is available next door. In fact, the valet was just as friendly as the inside staff - wishing us a happy new year and asking if we enjoyed our visit. The other downside are the acoustics in the main dining area. It can get very loud. But parking and noise are inconsequential compared to all the pluses. Plus, we were able to get last minute reservations via Open Table!
We were a party of 6 on a very busy night during the New Year weekend. We were seated immediately at our reservation time and everyone was able to find a delicious meal of their choice. I especially enjoyed my Chicken Sicilian dish with its home cooked flare. Overall, a wonderful find and the service was outstanding.
Assagios Bistro is consistently a nice dining experience—good food, service, ambiance.
Our server or waiter did well at beginning. After we got food he never never
came back to check on us. Had to get attention for dessert menu.
Dessert took awhile before it arrived
Needed to flag down for our check. Very disappointing.
First time there and possibly last time. very annoying.
Wonderful ambience, great service, interesting menu, generous servings and great location if want a nice dinner before going to Kahala Theaters. Alas, my eggplant parmesan and (over) roasted vegetables did not taste very Italian or anything that made it "special". Same with others pasta. Not as good as I remember the food from five years ago. Seemed like the goal of the chef is getting by rather than creating anything gourmet or delicious.
Very friendly staff, very attentive. Food was excellent. The valet was incredibly nice and helpful!
Assagio's Bistro is our go-to 'date night' dining place. Food is interesting and tasty, consistently delicious.
We were very disappointed in the food. We found some wood pieces in our salad so we were not charged for it. My daughter's fettuccine alfredo was very dry, hardly any sauce. My steak was well done and I asked for medium. I also asked for extra mushrooms and NO onions. Well, I got onions and NO extra mushrooms. And my husband ordered the special he saw on the board which stated chicken thighs. He got chicken breasts and does NOT like chicken breast. The server and staff were great though so I feel bad writing this and we are not usually ones to complain but I felt this was too much not to report.
My family enjoyed Assaggio Bistro. All 6 of us ordered different dishes and we liked them all.
Low key but good food place.
To expensive for the value. Prices on internet not what is charged at restaurant. Very deceiving.
Excellent, we will be bck
Celebrating my aunt’s birthday. We were able to sit earlier than our reservation time. Everyone enjoyed their choice of entree and dessert.
I liked the Assagio Chicken with rigotoni. My wife didn't like the veal+eggplant even after learning veal was baby cow. She never had veal before. Now she knows :)
Bartender was awesome. So helpful and engaging. Loved sitting at the bar. Fun meeting and talking to locals.
The food was great. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The rest needs work but I guess they have all the business they need. This is the second visit we’re seated near the front door so we can’t help but notice the manager is in shorts, just seems too casual unless you’re not even going for being a “nice” place - says they don’t really care. A bottle of beer is already overpriced, not unusual. Unfortunately, our server, Johnny, thinks it would be amusing to dump the bottle of beer into the glass so that it overflows all over his hands and on the floor. Yes, we noticed even if you tried to hide behind the pillar. So food good, service meh. We’re sad but will think twice before inviting friends to join us here.
Always enjoyed Assagio's Bistro - Kahala. Always a great spot. A lot better than the other locations I've visited. Ambiance, food, service, all so attentive.
Except for the night we visited on 10/12/18, around 8PM we arrived and was seated at our table. There was party going on in the large room. It was expected to have large parties and the noise level would be louder than usual. However that evening, 16 year old birthday party going on and highly entitled young girls screaming at the top of their lungs. Not giving a courtesy to consider there is other people in attendance at the restaurant. Parents coming in and out of the area, not convincing their kids to keep the noise level to a minimum. Young girls hanging around in the women restroom, talking, and hanging out. NO not uncomfortable at all especially trying to escort my 3 year old out of the restroom while they're blocking the exit. After the night was done, the parents didn't even apologize for the noise.
We voiced our compliant to our server and he indicated we're not only ones that complained and the party received more than one warning.
Would i visit again, yes, i would. Will i ever tell my son to turn down his iPAD, it'll depend if there is another party going on.
The food was adequate. However, the waiter nearly spoiled the evening. He seemed indifferent to us (4), acting out a personality of some kind. The bus-staff clattered plates and tableware when cleaning up, without regard for the quiet conversation we were having. Even though the food was merely OK, I would have given a higher rating, but because of the waiter's service and overall disrespect for us as folks wanting to have a nice dinner to celebrate an out-of-town guest, the occasion was spoiled. I won't go back.
We ordered calamari as appetizer and two other pasta dishes. Good thing we ordered the small portions. Carbonara was great! Just the right about of flavor and pasta perfect.
Veal was tasty. My guest really enjoyed the food as he is from Tokyo and picky about Italian food. Going to bring his family next time.
Our waiter was cheery and very pleasant!
Always enjoy the food here. Extra noisy this time. Lots of larger parties of women having a good time! Maybe he was busy but our waiter was a bit brusque.
We love sitting at the bar - Jerry and John are the best! Great food and drinks.
It Was nice, they put us in the back because we had kids which we were ok with. The food was good. The picatta could’ve used more lemon (didn’t taste any at all) but was still good. one of my chicken pieces was a little raw on my chicken portobello salad but that can happen anywhere so I wasn’t upset. The server was apologetic and asked if I wanted anything else which I declined. The desserts were good and overall we had a good time celebrating my mom in laws birthday and will be back again
It was not crowded since we went on a weeknight, so the noise level was down and it was good. The foods were good as always, we love garlic, so the chicken anchovy olio was perfect. We also had the fish and jumbo shrimp casino, came with lot of bacons. Both the tartufo and tiramisu for desserts were good.
