Service was friendly and professional. Pasta home made and very good. Seafood stew loaded with seafood.
Always a pleasure to go across the bridge to a McLean for Assaggi. Wish they were back in Bethesda. Fried artichokes and veal ravioli were superb!
Met a friend for dinner there. Great meal - we each ordered the Branzino and then split an order of risotto. The food and service were terrific. Look forward to coming back again soon.
The hostess (a red haired 50 year old woman) provided service akin to a disgruntled teen working at Applebee’s. She started off our night so unpleasantly it was hard to come back from. We came on 2/14/20. Will not return. Terrible representation of the restaurant - she should absolutely be replaced. The pasta sauce lacked salt and the branzino was dry.
Wasn't familiar with the restaurant before but the food was excellent and the service fantastic.
They didn’t have our reservation but seated us in the pizzeria section which was louder. The wait staff was great.
Seems like quality has declined, and prices increased. $45 for corkage is outrageous.
Everything from the service ( having to ask to order) to the bland taste of the arancini was disappointing. We won’t return due to the many other choices in the area.
First time visit for us at Assaggi Osteria. The food was very good and we enjoyed it. The service on the other hand was rushed, impersonal and our server was plain rude. I cannot imagine ever returning to Assaggi Osteria to dine and spend close to $100 per person considering our disappointing experience at this restaurant.
Great food and great service. The veal-stuffed olives were delicious.
Food was excellent. Service was superior.
My experience at this restaurant was not a good value. The food was ok but not good enough to make us want to return. The execution and flavor of the dishes was basic, not fine dining. Table service was adequate at an uncrowded time. Wine prices are exorbitant even for this area. The highlight of the evening was the courteous and pleasant hostess.
I've been here several times and absolutely loved it. This time the service was not up to snuff.
This was the first time we dined at Assaggi Osteria. We both had the Bronzini filet and a special caesar salad, which were excellent. A small glass of a 2012 Barolo was outstanding. The Tiramisu and the chocolate almond cake with gelato were excellent, as well. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the meal was and plan to return.
We sat down......no waiter or any service for at least 5-7 minutes. The menu was not close to what it once was, and we just had to leave.
Very nice spot for lunch. Outstanding starter soup and an excellent salad. Very fine quality food and superb service. Nice atmosphere -
The aged NY steak was very dry and tough. Not worth the money.
We were a party of 8. Forgot (or ran out of) one of the entrees. Pasta was no better than out of a box. Sauces were sticky and Iukewarm. Would not return.
Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to share your visit with us. We apologize for the service as this is not the experience that we hope you have at our establishment. As you were informed from the server on that day the salmon meal was not cooked properly and therefore our chef decided to redo the dish for your satisfaction. Your guest received a complimentary pasta from the chef until his meal was completed. I assure you our food quality is A++.Please email us to make things right for you.
Food and service are great. A little pricey so good for special occasions.
I would recommend this restaurant!
Hello, there Thanks for taking the time to write a nice review. We are looking forwarding to seeing you back soon to our establishment again.
The meats and cheeses board was fantastic. Cacio e Pepe was delicious, I wish I took some pictures. I can’t wait to go back!
Hi Pauly Thanks for taking the time to share your visit with us and write such a kind review . Looking forward to seeing you again
The service was impeccable and the food was well worth the wait!
Hi JoSyle Thanks for taking the time to share your visit with us. Looking forward to seeing you again
First time eating here. Went for the gnocchi that their menu on trip advisor had and happy hour drinks. Happy hour was only in bar and NO gnocchi on menu. Main restaurant was completely empty, but waiter sat us at 2 person table in corner. Food was ok and wine was very expensive. Will not come back. Go to Filamena's for the price.
Food was very good. Service was a tad slow. Will always go back. Great bar and wine options. Thanks!
Food was excellent and the service was excellent also
For me the menu was very limiting...my fault as I could have checked it out before going.
I don't eat tomatoes, I don't eat veal. Ordered the salmon. It looked like it was picked up at Giant and was totally over salted. The mashed potatoes also were over salted and seemed to be from a box.
The prices were too high for what we got, for example least expensive white wine $14.00 by glass
The server was polite but inattentive.
Noise level was okay, not great but okay
Very limited menu. Bread nowhere as good as previous owners. Pricey My meal was lukewarm - ravioli. The branzini with just sautéed spinach was $51!!!!
This used to be a thriving restaurant, especially for the government crowd. On this Tuesday night it was practically empty of diners.
A vey disappointed experience. Probably will not be returning.
Waiter was efficient but not friendly or welcoming.
the food was good, but the service was very poor as well as the ambiance.
the price was way too high considering the whole dinner experience.
My first trip since the renovation/expansion. Food and service remains top notch. The array of choices and quality of food was perfect. Will certainly return.
Wonderful meal as always. One of the best restaurants in Northern Virginia.
Food quality was average and preparation lacked any special seasoning that differentiated the item. Wine was $14.00 per glass from a bottle that would cost between $20-$25 per bottle.... way over priced. Cost of meal not proportional to the experience or taste expectation.
We had a great experience. The food and service were outstanding. The drinks and wine list were a little on the high side, but we were there on Monday night when bottles of wine are 50% off.
Our server was attentive, professional and very personable. I would definitely recommend Assaggi Osteria.
Went for a late lunch meeting, sat at an outside table. Split a salad and a pizza. Both were delicious. Sometimes the service was a little slow but it was an odd hour of the day. Would go back again.
We made a reservation, asking for an inside quiet table to celebrate our anniversary - the staff did not look at the reservation. . . asked if we wanted to sit outside, didn't give us a quiet table and no recognition of our special event. Noise from the bar was moderate to loud, partially because the music is loud and people had to talk over it. We were seated without a drink menu, it took about 10 minutes for our waiter to notice us, and then provide a drink menu. We ordered their drink off their specialty menu (both of us) and were later told they only had enough for one. So, we modified the order. Then they came back and said they didn't have enough to make the other one either. Not sure if they gave it away to someone else in the 3 minutes this took. We indicated we'd want wine with our dinner - dinner arrived and we had to ask for someone to come take our wine order. The Tiramisu was most definitely a frozen store bought brand - at an Italian, and bit pricey, restaurant.
On the evening we were there there was an unusually light crowd which made for a more than normal quiet atmosphere. I had a Jim Beam Manhatten on the Rocks; just right. My Wife and I both had an Arugla salad with Motza (sp?P) cheese. Excellent! For Entre, we both had Scallops over Risotto with mushroms. Also excellent. The service here is always accessable and timely, but could be more professional or formal to fit the prices, atmosphere and food offerings. We will return, although prices are at the upper limit for us; especially if it is noisy.
The quality has declined since the new owner took over. The service needs better training and a new chef is needed. A very loud party at the next table was an annoyance.
Excellent service, very good wine list, dining room is refined. Bar is fun and you can eat the full menu at the bar or outside. Food was very good, matched the best of Italy. Seafood is always cooked to perfection. The veal chops are wonderful.
Haven't visited for a while. Great to be back. Server was terrific, on top of everything.
Nice, crisp, Vermentino,
Chunky chilled Polpo salad
excellent pesto spaghetti with
a huge fillet of nicely done halibut with a charred skin
The food, hospitality, and atmosphere felt very authentic and was wonderful. The handmade pasta was delicious!. Fried artichoke appetizer was perfection, highly suggest it!
Just the best spot in McLean for a fabulous dinner. Have never had a bad meal there and Friday night's dinner was no exception. Pasta superb. Scallops superb. Desserts superb. We only gave three stars for service because it took a long time for our server to take our order. But once our food arrived we were thrilled!
