The atmosphere is non-existent, glaring down lights in the ceiling light the place up like a grocery store. They do not have a liquor license, so no wine or cocktails available. Even though it was less than half full, service took too long and food didn't come for over 20 minutes. When it finally did, the Moussaka was still cold, as in still in the fridge cold. Then they did a new one (why not just heat this one?) and zapped it so much in the microwave that the cheese on top (yes, cheese, not béchamel)totally disintegrated. It was greasy and barely edible. My lamb skewers were tasty but 2 hours later made a rapid exit. Needless to say, we will not be back and encourage you to avoid it.
Good whole branzino, hummus & vegetable spread.
Food was good, but took way too long and not worth the almost hour wait. Place was not packed, staff not all that personable. A lot of people picking up take out, maybe that is the better way to avoid frustrating in restaurant dining experience.
Great experience overall. Had a late lunch and just ordered apps. Food was fresh and delicious and the server was friendly and efficient. Baklava was a great ending to a wonderful meal.
The puffy bread and baba ganoush were very good. We also had calamari appetizer which was flavorless with a flavorless sauce. The entrees ranged from decent to poor, especially after an hours wait. Chicken kabobs were ok, the lamb kabobs ordered medium, were well done which rendered them tough and boring. The lamb chops were tiny and burned yet cold. The other ground chicken entrees were not very good.
Our server spoke little English and had very little menu knowledge. On several occasions we had to remind her of something we ordered. The place was 80% empty and yet the service was very slow.
We really wanted to like this place and had heard good things. Maybe we caught them on an off night even though it was a Saturday, but I think there is a reason they always seem empty.
We had a party of 13. Everything was great. The manager/staff were very personable and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. It was probably the most fun I've had in awhile at a restaurant. We'll definitely be back.
This was a very pleasant dining experience. Food was absolutely AMAZING and the service was right on point.
There were four of us for my birthday and introducing friends who had not been there before. I would HIGHLY recommend, as all is excellent.
We have dined at Istanbul Turkish Cuisine several times and have always had a great meal. We were a group of 8 and wanted a place where we could enjoy good food AND be able to talk without loud excessive noise. The atmosphere was very nice, we could hear each other's conversation, and the food and service was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
This was a great palce. we enjoyed it, we were even given free chocolate
A most enjoyable evening. Food was exrremely tasty and beautifully presented. Service was great . Quiet for great conversation. A truly pleasant experience.
If you like Turkish food, this place is great. Chicken Addonis , and lamb sis kabob, with an appetizer of wheat Bulger stuffed with ground spiced lamb are the items we ordered. All were excellent!. There is outdoor seating as well.
We go here often with the same friends. We get a variety of dishes so that my wife can think back to when she lived in Cyprus. She likes to go there and converse in Turkish to keep up he fluency of the language. The food is authentic and the service is always at a good pace.
Service was a little too slow from the new server but we will definitely be back for the authentic cuisine. My wife speaks Turkish and likes to remain fluent each time that we visit.
Waiter and service were excellent. The atmosphere was great and intimate. They recommended things to try and we were not disappointed!
Tasty mediterranean food, loved my chicken skewers!! Yummy :) Would love to go back with my friends.....
Delicious authentic Turkish cuisine with friendly service and nice atmosphere, highly recommended!
Had a wonderful 3 hour evening with my friends introducing them to excellent authentic Turkish food, and to Turkish hospitality! Cok tesekkur ederiz!
Favorite restaurant! Consistently excellent food and service! Hidden gem! It's a must try!
Food was good and the flavor was authentic. Ali was an attentive and friendly server. Wines were well priced. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Nice place. Great food. We will go back again.
Exceptional. My first Turkish food experience and this place has me hooked. I highly recommend!!
Istanbul is consistently good. It is not excellent, but it is good enough to return, and no aspect of it disappoints. The food is tasty enough - not the best in the area, but much closer to home than its competition. The "yogurt style" of entrees can be a bit spicy, so be careful.
The appetizers were the best part. Go for the hummus and the egg plant!
The ottoman casserole was the best dish followed by lamb gyro.
They don't have good wine choices! Worth a visit.(
Everything was excellent but the food (mixed grill for two) could have used a heating stone to stay warm longer. Other than that, we will be back.
We love coming to Istanbul for some really fabulous food and very attentive staff. It is always hard to choose what to eat as everything we have tried there is very delicious. We always start with the lavash which is a wonderful bread that is great as a starter with their homemade hummus. This is a great restaurant for a family dinner or a special occasion.
Breck was a great server, went with his suggestions and were not disappointed.
My wife and I have eaten here on a couple of occasions and I must say it is a great place to go. We like it better than the other Turkish restaurants we have been to. The interior is nice and modern and clean. The service is good and the food is excellent! The lavas is very good to start your dining experience and they have 2 sizes, so a party of two can enjoy the small one. We have had kabobs and lamb chops. Both are very tasty and reasonably priced. They have a decent wine list and a full service bar. If you have a large party, they have a private dining area available. They have a few tables outside also if you want to sit outside on a nice evening.
Made reservations for 6:00p.m. for party of nine. We arrived and where seated promptly. Took about 10 minutes for waiter as there was a wedding party seated in the back room. He took our drink order (spilt the wine), gave us water, and we ordered appetizers and our meal. Appetizers arrived about 20 minutes later and he did not come back to check on us or refill water.
Around 7:00 I stopped him as he was walking by and asked him about our dinners. He said he would check and I did not see him again. At 7:15 I went to the bar and asked for the manager and explained the situation. She said because of the wedding party they were behind. I pointed out to her that there were at least two other tables that were seated after us and they had their meals but we did not. She said she would check on it.
Food finally arrived at 7:25. Chicken kebobs were overcooked and dry; lamb kebobs overcooked; beef kebobs tasted like lamb and were overcooked as well (probably cooked in the same pan at the same time). The only thing that was good and cooked perfectly was the fish. Again, we never saw our waiter until he cleared the table, and no one asked us how our meal was. However, another waiter did stop by and told us the dinner part of the order was not turned into the kitchen.
Now to the you are joking moment. The bill comes and there is a 20% tip added into it! I asked for the manager and she told me that a 20% tip is added to any party of 6 or more. I asked her if she thought it was a good idea to add the tip given what happened and stated, with a straight face, the tip was standard!!!! I told her that since it was not advertised on the menu or mentioned anywhere, even when the reservation was made, I would not pay it. She agreed to take it off the bill.
There you have it. Bad service, overall bad meal (appetizers were good), and no apology or acknowledgement that they screwed up; trying to use the wedding party as an excuse.
Food was fresh. Service was excellent. Expansive menu. Lots of parking.
We had a family event w/16 people. Everything went great -- from scheduling to dessert. Even for a large group, service was very attentive and food came out promptly. We eat here whenever in town and it's always "spot-on". Highly recommended, whatever the size group or occasion.
based on some of the reviews read on open table I was sceptical about my reservation, however I wanted to see it for myself. The food was outstanding. The prices were not high and worth every penny. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Istanbul is a great place to go when you want food, fun and conversation. Everything they serve is delicious. Get one of the mixed appetizers, and don't forget the "hollow bread". The mixed grill is fun for a group to share, too. When we're entertaining, Istanbul is where we choose for a perfect evening.
Food was well presented and delicious. Service was friendly and on time.
This is by far the best Turkish food place I have been to ever in the USA. I can proudly say I have tried at least 15 total.
I had the lamb kabobs, shepherd (?) salad, and the hummus. All of it was so fresh and amazing. The salad was a big surprise, it was so flavorful with fresh herbs, little pickles included in the salad and so many vegetables that it could have been a meal in itself. Next time I am travelling to that area, I will definitely stop at Instanbul!
There was only one server for 10 tables. Food was decent. He tried his best, but pretty sad place overall.
We chose this place because they were on Open Table. We looked at the dinner menu on Open Table and the meals were around $11-13 which is a reasonable price. When we showed up for our reservation and looked at the menu the same dinner selections were $16.99 to over $20. That's quite a price jump. Because of the sticker shock we got up and left.
We were already sitting in our car when one of the employees ran out to the car to see why we left. NEVER do this. It makes you look desperate and sad. I told her about the huge price difference from the dinner menu they have posted on Open Table to the actual menu in the restaurant. She offered us 10% off but that wasn't going to cut it. No soup for you.
Local restaurant with very good lavish bread, order mezza and family style apps, share & enjoy.
We ate here after Istanbul had been open for a week or two, and were terribly disappointed. Some restaurants just need to find their footing, and this one certainly has. The food was delicious, the service was great, and we're very much looking forward to coming back.
