About

In Italy, food is about more than just the eating; it’s an experience in itself, an event, a celebration. At the ASK Italian restaurant in Tunbridge Wells, you’ll find it’s not just the food that’s authentic; it’s the entire atmosphere. Our distinctive building on the corner of Monson Road – large glazed windows and raised roof of skylights – means we’re easy to find, too. We’re just a short stroll from Trinity Theatre and Assembly Hall Theatre, so why not really make a night of it and guarantee yourself a complete cultural experience with ASK?
Like all good Italian restaurants, it’s a family-friendly space, with a fantastic kids’ menu as well as a sophisticated range of pastas, pizzas and risottos. There’s also a function room for private events and an outside area for dining al fresco.

Booked a table for 5 through OpenTable becouse ASk Italian online booking not working properly and not answering the phone despite ringing for a couple of minutes.

We were seated and then the manager came over and questioned the booking. He stated that ASK Italian no longer use OpenTable. This was very embarrassing. I felt we were not welcome.

The manger came over again and asked to see the booking confirmation. Fortunately I printed the booking confirmation and was able to show this to him.

We ordered our starters and mains. Unfortunately the starters did not arrive and one of the mains was missing. The management did give us a proportionate discount without any prompting which was polite and respectful.

Although I have given a poor rating, I would still however put this down to a one off experience as ASK Italian have provided a very good service for a basic family orientated restaurant to us over the past 15 years. It could possibly be due to a change of management at this particular branch. We will go again. If there is a re-occurrence we will assume there is a drop in the service they traditionally provided and go elsewhere.

An average experience -neither outstandingly bad nor outstandingly bad, just average! Poor calamari, okay tricolore, okay calzone, okay lasagne -get my drift? It’s okay!

GOOD - Food, Service, Staff.

BAD - Despite booking online and receiving an emailed confirmation, on arrival there was no table reserved for us. As it was close to Christmas and I had travelled up from Eastbourne and my friend down from London, if there had not been a table available, I would certainly made my displeasure known. In the event there was a table free, but this was by pure luck. You really should get your online bookings sorted out. If you had had a large party in an no table for them, you could have had more than a little trouble.
