Asian Mint | Forest Lane Ratings and Reviews
This has become my favorite Dallas restaurant. I’ve always loved their curries, sushi, and tea. But they also have some awesome cocktails, maybe the best I’ve had anywhere. (Our favorites are the Lychee Martini and the Green Tea Martini!) I know for sure the Massaman curry is THE best I’ve ever had, anywhere, and I’ve had lots. Love love love the bits of kubota squash in there! And this time I tried the Jasmine Creme Brûlée, expecting to be disappointed because usually you can’t taste the jasmine, only the vanilla, whenever other restaurants have attempted this. I was SO pleasantly surprised!! Definitely a jasmine experience, which is what I’m always looking for. I love when floral flavors shine through, as in rose or violet ice cream you can find in France. I’ve never been able to find anyone able to successfully capture that experience in the US, until now. We live in Arizona but every time we come to Dallas to visit family we make Asian Mint a “must do”on our list!!! Awesome job.
This among my favorite restaurants if not MY FAV for Gluten Free options and the best value with great service and probably some of the best cocktails. I usually sit at the bar and the casual to-go crowd is hopping every night and a nice room for private bookings.
The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was nice. The only complaint I had was the confusing pricing when you order a combination of meats, but that will not prevent me from going here again. Just beware that when you order a combo ask the server for the total price before placing your order.
Celebrating a birthday we attended for brunch on a Sunday. The brunch menu was not available for some reason although it was just about noon. The appetizers were very good however the Teriyaki Chicken left much to be desired. The chicken pieces were rather large and could not be cut with the serrated knife that was provided. Overall we were disappointed as we had heard great things prior to visiting.
The family has enjoyed coming to Mint for years but this night was our last. The food is always consistent but service was lacking. The servers unfamiliar use of the iPad ordering system creates a less personal and fragmented service. Maybe this has always been Mint's policy or it is new as of renovation/expansion but they nickel and dime the guest for everything. $1.50 here, $2.00 there, $3.00 for this. Yes, they are minuscule charges but it becomes very annoying. We over heard other tables ask for a side of extra sauce and extra peanuts and they were told it would an additional charge. The guests even questioned it. I was afraid to ask for soy sauce, they may have asked for $0.25 to unlock it from storage before charging me additional fees. Being nickled and dimed over and over isn't worth it. Best Thai, Pakpao or Bangkok Dee are just as good as Mint and you won't have to bring your loose change.
Asian mint offers a nice array of pan-Asian dishes. I tried the iced matcha tea latte- it was refreshing, not too sweet and paired well with the dishes I ordered. I started with the veggie summer rolls. The rolls are generously filled with sprouts, carrots, lettuce and other vegetables. They rolls are quite filling. They are presented with a peanut based dipping sauce. The sriracha chicken stir fry delivered consistent heat and spiciness without making it uncomfortable to eat the dish. Ask for Levi - he knows the menu and makes great recommendations.
The food is consistently good here. We loved the summer rolls and seaweed salad appetizers. The Sriracha Chicken, Pad Woon Sen, Pad Thai and Shrimp and Chicken Basil entrees were delicious. I think the Pad Thai is one of the best in Dallas. I recommend substituting chicken pieces for the minced chicken in the Shrimp and Chicken Basil.
Food excellent but note no sushi on Sundays. We were disappointed.
Waitress was very nice. The problem was the service was too fast. The appetizers and dinner were delivered in five minutes. Then we got the feeling we were being pressured to leave so they could turn over the table. We hoped to relax ans savor and that was not possible. The waitress kept stopping by asking if we needed anything else. We just wanted to have a conversation!
The dishes here are well done, but the value at dinner menu prices is questionable. Service started off slow, but improved once we placed our order. Had two types of crispy fish, orange chicken, ceviche which was too salty and a California roll. Orange chicken was probably the best item. Wine pours were small considering the price. This place is always busy, but I think that speaks to the lack of good Asian places in Dallas rather than the strength of Asian Mint.
We were lucky enough to be in Dallas for the 'soft opening' of the just expanded and redecorated Asian Mint. Everything about our evening there was remarkable from the very attentive staff to the high quality of the food. Even the espresso was great - which I have NEVER ordered at an Asian restaurant. Bravo ! ! ! Wish that we lived closer or that the owners would open a restaurant on the Coast of Maine.
