Pretty good food and excellent service... happily go again :)
We were a group of 4 in for a pre-theater dinner and split everything, and everything was worth ordering again. Two star appetizers - duck roll and curry puffs. The lo mein with ground chicken was perfectly spicy. Panang curry was delicious. We added the papaya salad, which added freshness to the table. We'll be back again soon.
Great service, the bartender was very attentive to you. Happy hour at the bar was a great deal! Dragon roll was super delicious. Would recommend
Food was good but not great but good sized portions. Fair value for the money. Ambiance was okay for informal dining. Not a "date" restaurant. It wasn't crowded when we were there but there are so many tables in the large room I would imagine it could get very noisy.
It was an enjoyable evening. The food and service was good.
Service was very slow in the beginning
This place has gone downhill. Service was awful with our waitress smelling like fresh smoke. Kept forgetting orders and then would come back 5 minutes later to say they were out of a particular item. Prices are high for relatively moderate portions. There are many other Asian resturaunt in this area I would recommend over Asian Nine
I was disappointed for waiting 5-10 mins to be seated. I also had reservations. I was on my lunch and only had a hour. I was late getting back to work. There was only one Attendant at the host station and he was taking care of carryout order, uber eats & sitting people that were arriving. I had to get a waitress to seat us so we would not have to wait any longer.
I was eating alone. They were very nice. Did not put me in the corner as some restaurants do with single diners.
I was there during Sunday happy hour. The happy hour food was very good.
The food was excellent, we started with the crab Rangoon, a sushi roll, and the spring rolls. I had the Korean beef which was flavored delicious.
Despite restaurant being only 1/4 filled, we waited after being seated 20 minutes for a server to come by with water. We had to go to the front desk to ask. After we ordered, the food came quickly, but getting the server's attention for more wine, water & dessert was difficult. While the server was pleasant, he seemed to be so multi-tasked that he was not focused. We asked if other waitstaff did not show up but he said that this was "normal." While we like the food, this is about the 3rd time we have experienced service problems. We will no longer return to this place.
We had a great time. Really good ambiance; even better cocktails. Try the cucumber martini.
It's always nice to take a new friend to Asia Nine and she loved the sushi. I tried "Crying Tiger" because it was a day that I wanted beef which I eat little of. It wasn't great. The meat was overcooked and tho' I love the sides, they also come with the Thai BBQ Chicken which I recommend far more than the meat. The sizzling beef looks like a better quality beef if you are in the mood for beef.
BEST was that they had jazz playing! FAR better than the usual too-loud other music. It suited the restaurant far better.
Food was awesome!!
Delightfully pleasant. Would be happy to return to sample some of the other items on the menu
I loved everything about it. Our Server Benji was amazing. He made the evening even more entertaining and was a great waiter.
As usual, Asia 9 was great! As you will see, I continue to select this as my first-choice restaurant. The only negative comment I would like to make for the first time, is that sitting near the front of the restaurant was super cold and not comfortable, hard to enjoy my meal as the door opened and closed each time.
I was driving past Asian Nine this weekend to another place and thought "this place was great, I must go back!" I immediately cancelled my previous reservation and scheduled for here. Asia 9 did not disappoint! The rolls were very high quality as was the sashimi. Their portions were generous, beautifully presented and everything was delicious. My favorites were the fatty tuna sushi and the salmon sashimi. I will be back!!
Great food. Large party, they easily seperated checks for us.
Very good food, generous portions. Service was very nice, if a little slow. Expansive dining area, nice subdued atmosphere. Might be noisy when full, but last Friday night we could talk without shouting at each other, speaking at normal volume. Bathroom could use attention (try and go before you arrive).
Love their sushi. Sometimes hard to get consistent service during happy hour & I was disappointed that they were out of both IPAs on this visit, on a Friday.
Great food , service, seating . Loved the music.
Parking garages near by but they do close at like 10 so just take into consideration. Other than that. Great place !
Unimpressive Asian food. Service poor. Rest rooms dirty.
Great food and service. Reasonable prices. Good value. Walk ins welcome. Close to movies, museums, etc.
Good restaurant , the food was excellent
As always, and once again, Asia 9 was great! As you will see in your records, I continue to come back again and again and quite often and is my first, primary restaurant of choice. Happy New Year Asia 9 Staff!
As always, Asia 9 was wonderful! I took my colleague (former supervisor) to celebrate her retirement.
We arrived exactly at 12pm and we never got our food. We waited 75 mins and our waitress kept telling us soon but soon became 1hr 25mins and so we left.
Very disappointed 😞
Bad experience and it could be better! The food was not bad at the beginning and the waitress who took the order was very welcoming and helpful! The restaurant closes at 21:30, we arrived 21:00, food came cold 21:20!!! 21:30 they started closing and cleaning the restaurant which was really awful!! Was really bad and unprofessional. Things started to look disgusting even food!! Bad experience.....
Table was ready for us when we got there. Food was priced well, came relatively quickly and tasted yummy. No complaints
Excellent service and solid menu. An open bar area and comfortable (i.e., not crowded) seating. Very good lunch locale, and I will certainly give the dinner menu a try in the future. Thanks!
The service was fantastic, the setting was very nice, the food was moderate and the noise ("music") was unbearable. There are better options near the theater, especially if you're looking for the great food that abounds in D.C.
I was not impressed with the menu or choice of dishes. The service was good but lacked a good selection of dishes.
We went to the Asia Nine for lunch before a movie at E Street Cinema. The restaurant was pretty empty -- it was 2:00 in the afternoon. We were two women, one in her sixties and one black. We were seated right outside the kitchen at the back of the restaurant. When this happens to me I never return to that restaurant.
The server was very nice and the food was good and plentiful.
It would be hard to describe the ambience of the restaurant from where we were seated, but it certainly did not seem warm and welcoming.
As to whether I would recommend the restaurant to a friend, it would depend on the friend. I wouldn't send someone there to be seated at the kitchen door.
We decided to try Asia Nine because it was open at 4:30 PM so we would have time to walk with our friends to a Smithsonian concert afterward . The restaurant was quiet, since it was early. We told our waitress (didn't get her name) that we needed to catch a 6 PM performance, and she assured us we would have time. They had a vegetarian menu for our vegan friend. We ordered eel donburi, sushi platters, and lomein (with request to tone down spice). The miso soup that came with the platters was very good and seemed to be flavored by the kombu (seaweed) rather than MSG, which is bad for me. The sushi rice was flavored well - a hint of sweet vinegar, although the nori on the asparagus did not wrap around totally, so the rice tended to spill out a bit. The lomein with minced chicken was very tasty and a large portion - we shared the leftovers the next day for lunch. I forgot to ask if our friend liked the donburi, so that is an unknown. I definitely would recommend the restaurant to others!
Asia Nine is a reliable spot for excellent sushi, Thai, and Japanese food. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service excellent. While it is not too far from the Verizon Center and theaters, it is just enough off the beaten path that it’s easy to get a last minute table. Really, I shouldn’t tell people how nice it is, because it might get too crowded!
This restaurant doesn’t exist anymore.
It was excellent. Got there very late and staff was still pleasant and accommodating. Vietnamese noodle soup provided a perfect end to a chilly night.
Spacious Asian fusion restaurant around the corner from Ford's theatre with a large bar and a few TVs in the bar area. We opted for traditional fare and the food was okay, but nothing special. They do have an extensive Sushi menu and perhaps that is their forte. Service and staff were excellent and fast.
