   A very good lunch. One had a very varied and tasty risotto. I had an excellent, well balanced shepherd’s pie with firm carrots snd a minted pea puree. Great treacle tart to follow. One of us had the special dessert— a complicated ice cream with little chunks of diced fruit and coconut. Served in a tall glass. All very well but impenetrably deep frozen. Spoon would have given way first. Waiter returned and wasn’t surprised to find it needed a blast in the microwave. Said most diners asked for the same follow up, raining obvious questions about concept or storage or both! Otherwise a good afternoon…

   Finding this restaurant wasn't the easiest, I'd expect better signage especially considering it's located in a museum with not the easiest/clearest access. The service was poor and I found it tad rude. There was a mark on one of the plates so we asked to replace it, there was no apology or friendliness it was met with a stern face. When the replacement was given similarly, it was almost shoved onto us and with no words said. We were placed on a table and had pre-booked 4 afternoon teas, this reiterated by the waitress who greeted us. As the afternoon teas arrived the waited seemed annoyed that the table had been placed incorrectly and with napkins and cutlery next to the plate and the expression he gave was as if it was our fault and we did something wrong when that was how the table was laid and set. He was saying how there won't be enough room at the same time he was laying the afternoon tea another waitress simultaneous starting placing the drinks which was unhelpful to her colleague. The waiter then suddenly decided this table wasn't big enough and asked us to move. Again, the way it was said and the move was just chaotic and rude. No offer of help was given to move all the cutlery and drinks etc till after we moved them. I just found it very standoffish and unwelcoming and surprising that the staff didn't know what table was appropriate when it is their signature dish and they know better than anyone. I do not think I'd visit again or recommend it based on how I was treated. I'd expect a waitress to friendly say I apologise about a dirty plate and similarly I would expected to be seated appropriately but if not I'd expect it to be communicated in a friendly way such as I am sorry I think a bigger table will give you more room so you're not cramps let us set one up for you and then we'll let you know when it was ready.

   We ordered a bottle of prosecco, the waiter managed to pour most of it over the table, we asked for him to clean it up, this took too long. We ordered some breads, boring bread that was certainly not what the menu promised and the smallest amount of oil and balsamic I have ever seen. We were assessing this for a 50th Birthday, it's certainly off the list.

   We enjoyed our afternoon tea but unfortunately it felt a bit rushed as they had a private event happening from 4pm which we hadn’t been warned about although we booked in advance. We also weren’t advised beforehand that the cost had increased since we booked a month ago

   Originally ordered lunch menu for me and my 3 friends. Last minute friends decided they would prefer Afternoon Tea -the restaurant obliged without a problem. Afternoon Tea was poor quality especially sandwiches, scones were really nice, cakes unexciting. The restaurant had IT problems with regards to electronic payments and this took over the staff’s attention. It was eventually sorted. Afraid won’t be returning. I also made my reservation a week prior and the staff had difficulty finding us a table!!

   Afternoon tea at £28.50 a head plus automatically applied 10% service charge - which I don’t approve of. The food just wasn’t that great and neither was the service. None of the desserts tasted home made and some of the sandwich filllings were very lacklustre. There was no attention to detail - cups and crockery low quality etc. I think I expected it to be similar to the afternoon tea experience offered by Bettys and other similar chains and it isn’t - which is a shame for somewhere in such a beautiful location. Would not recommend the afternoon tea option at this price.

   This was a most disappointing experience of afternoon tea! The table was in the middle of the busy restaurant, which is a nice location but we would have been better off just getting a sandwich. Ordinary white cups/plates & no sense of occasion. Food was fine but overly expensive, scones were lovely, two servings of tea and we paid extra £6 each for a glass of prosecco. The manager was helpful but was so busy due to the lunch crowd. It was such a let down and as it was a birthday gift, it was all the more disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this experience at the price of £78.00 which was way too expensive for what we were served. A lovely venue, no ambience & a less than satisfactory food experience. Not good value at all!!

    The food was very good but the bill was very wrong - twice. We chose the Spring set menu which was very good value at £27 for two courses plus a glass of prosecco or elderflower fizz. We asked what was included in the menu and were told any two courses except the cheese. When the bill came however we were charged the price for each course off the menu which was more expensive. When we queried this the waitress said it was cheaper for us this way. No it wasn't so we asked again for her to correct the bill. She came back with a new bill which had £2.50 deducted. Still wrong. We asked again for a new bill which was finally correct. A pity as it was otherwise a good meal in a nice location.
