Ash is a wood fired American kitchen with southern roots and international flavors; it offers a casual yet refined feel, fulfilling the roles of family favorite, neighborhood hangout, and date night staple.
Went to Ash for the first time and we were impressed. The menu is a bit limited, but there are specials everyday. We both had the hamburger which was GREAT....although expensive. We will be back.
The food was exceptionally delicious!
Over priced even in the Restaurant Week. Small portion and too salty.
Ash is a fun restaurant with a cool vibe. We went during restaurant week, and got a great deal on a restaurant week shrimp dish with a wedge salad. Good selection on the wine menu, and lots of beer options to choose from.
The food was serve cold. We told them, when we could get their attention, they served us more cold food. The server rolled her eyes at me when we came in. She would come to the table so fast you could not order anything. I think she needs to do something else. We were with friends who are in the restaurant business. None of us will be going there again. Very slow with Service. We had to flag someone down to get anything.
Excellent, super-tasty food by a chef who knows what he is doing! We visited for the first time this weekend and were very impressed with our meals. Every single thing we had was good - drinks, appetizer (try the roasted okra for sure!), veggie plate, hamburger, bread pudding. We will definitely go back for more. Also loved the setting across from Patriot Park. Thumbs way up!
Everyone will get tired of me posting the same review because we’ve started to go to Ash on a regular basis. Can’t say enough great things about the service and the food.
It is definitely becoming a Bham favorite.
First time there and had great food and service. Plan to go back with adult children's family. Great to see families there.
Very good food, very fresh. Very nice ambiance and service.
Friendly with a lot of kids.
We had a fabulous time! This was our first time visiting. We unwittingly stumbled upon their 1yr anniversary celebration. Great place, great food, great people! Happy Anniversary!
I cannot express the amount of excitement I had over this restaurant! It was not only a pleasure to be greeted and treated the way we were, but the food has me SPEECHLESS! I could not stop eating. Worth every penny, every mile to get there, and would recommend it to ANYONE!!
The menu features innovative twists on traditional Southern favorites. I’m not a vegetarian, but I do need to eat gluten-free friendly, so I really enjoy the “meatless main” and then the applesauce for dessert.
I have been there several times now and I’ve always had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing, local food.
The Double Cheeseburger was one of the better burgers we’ve ever had — outstanding, and highly recommended. My wife had the Tangled Up in Blue mixed drink, which was excellent on a hot night. We all loved the fried green tomatoes. Very attentive service — overall a great experience.
Food is a good value and very good. My meal was delicious - I had the pork & my husband had steak. It was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
Enjoyed lunch with a friend. I had reservations and we arrived a few minutes early. Hostess saw I had a large picture album. Instinctively seated us at a four person table. She thought we might need the extra room???????????? WOW. So impressed. Food was very tasty. Had grilled chicken. Our waitress was very attentive. Highly recommend for lunch.
We LOVE this FAMILY restaurant—-Food is good—-Servers so accommodating & friendly—-Praise God for a family oriented place where people can take ALL their children—-from 3 to 33!! Ray & Mary Lou Ideker
Fantastic. Will be back
The food was pretty good. The burger was basically a standard burger; however, it was displayed on the menu like it must be special - it wasn’t really. The meatless main was delicious. The outside patio had potential but was kind of boring - Starbucks has more ambience. Would love to see a better outdoor patio and a few more appetizer options.
Our dining experience at Ash on Friday, June 7 was absolutely one of the best meals we have had in a long time. My wife had the filet and I had the grilled porterhouse pork t-bone. The flavor was spot on and the value is unmatched by any restaurant that we’ve experienced. We eat out a lot and the chef at Ash is to be commended. We give our experience a two thumbs up!!!
A neighborhood gem, tucked away in West Homewood. Reserved on the OpenTable app for a Thursday night and were given really only one or two dining options 8 o’clock or 815… However there were tables available. In other words, don’t be discouraged by the limited options.Food and service was awesome.
Fantastic filet. Best one I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
Ash is a bit loud, but the service is good and the food is excellent.
I just love it.
Each time that we go, the quality is just fenomenal.
The food was good but the menu was extremely limited (only two appetizers) and entrees were not very filling. The atmosphere was definitely not what I expected, very open and cold and uncomfortable.
Loud although-not crowded
Food was delicious!
Compliments to the chef. The menu is small, but our choices of the lamb dish and pork dish were excellent. The prices are reasonable and the portions just the right size. Some bread would have been a nice touch. Will definitely be going back.
I have had several opportunities to enjoy a meal at Ash, and each one seems to be better than the last. Their rotating menu always seems to have 2-3 things I can’t wait to try and their execution never disappoints. I am thrilled to have this gem in Homewood and wish them many years of success!
Met some senior girlfriends for an early dinner on Tuesday evening. It was my first time. Great location and easy to find. It was only 5 pm so the place was empty but we were seated immediately. Nice wine menu but only Pepsi products. YUCK. Little confusion with my order but it was quickly fixed. Menus was nice. Lots of appealing entrees. Since I don't care for carrot puree, I ended up with faro and grilled chicken tenders. It was very tasty and the portion was just the right size. I enjoyed my meal. I will say there were a large number of little kids and families. Lots of noise and running which you expect from young kids. I would definitely eat here again. Pricing was very reasonable.
We enjoyed Ash very much. The food was excellent and innovatively prepared. The service was outstanding, as well.
The Brussel spouts are a must!! The food is fresh and delicious! It is a tad bit loud when it’s busy between people having conversations and the music so if you’re looking for a quiet evening to have deep conversations with your date, this isn’t necessarily the place for that but this is my second time eating here and it was better than the first.
The service was very good. Our server brought my husband and me our wine to enjoy while we waited on the rest of our party. The kitchen accommodated a member of our party who is gluten free by substituting Brussels sprouts for couscous I her meal. Several of us had burgers and they were delicious. It was a little loud for comfortable conversation around a table of 6. We will be back, however.
Great food, service, and value. Definitely going back for more.
It’s a new restaurant, so we expected the sparse decorating and louder than normal noise. What we did NOT expect was the fabulous service, food and overall vibe. We loved it, and will go back.
Fabulous experience! Olivia, our primary server, gave great suggestions, was attentive and a joy to interact with the whole evening. The appetizers, wine, entrees and dessert were top notch and a great value! The noise level did increase the longer we were there but not horrible. I would suggest dampening the front door closure; it was a bit distracting as customers came and went!
If someone that lives close by asked me where to go for a burger I would recommend it, otherwise not really. it's more of a local spot for a teenage or young family type crowd.
Overall, we had a good experience. Enjoyed the atmosphere. The burger was very good. As was the creme brulee. The salad was very good as well. Service was not bad, but could have been better. Place is a little loud - but, not too bad. Will go again.
Beef brisket was outstanding!
Very little parking and slow service - they were busy so I am sure that contributed. Waitress was rushed throughout dinner. Hamburger was ok but only three sides were available.
Delicious food and very good value. We will definitely be back and look forward to returning to try the outdoor seating. There were several families with young children - great addition to the neighborhood. Great choice for foodies too.
