Great as always. Going on our 4th year coming. Love the space and the staff.
DJ was too loud! OK, it was 10 pm on a Friday evening, but absolutely nobody was partying. It was mostly couples & small groups chatting, and you had to shout to be heard, even from a couple feet away. We asked the server if they'd turn it down, but it kept getting louder. The room looks great, the view's sensational, the chairs are cozy, food is good, & the jazz group that played until 9:30 was excellent. But after an hour we left to go someplace where we could actually hold a conversation.
Enjoyed all aspects will be back, food and service were very good
Server was, to put it politely, inattentive and distracted. We waited a long time for our order to be taken, did not get the glasses of water requested with our food and wine until we asked a second time, and were generally treated as if the young lady was doing us a favor by waiting on our table. There was a person stretched out on the floor of the Men's restroom.
The food and wine were very good, despite the unpleasant service experience. And, the location is excellent.
This place is really nice and I loved the music - but I was hungry and looking for a delicious meal. This place is mainly overpriced non greasy bar food and drinks. I would recommend this venue for a nice after work happy hour with a client.
A great scenic spot overlooking Central Park. Unfortunately, for some reason they've taken to blasting hip-hop music even as early as 8 pm on a Thursday night, making it all but impossible to enjoy the romantic side of this romantic spot. Don't bother EVEN TRYING to whisper sweet nothings...a bullhorn is needed. We split after one drink.
Good view pricey food and drinks very loud dj on Saturday nights.
Very posh atmosphere and Waygu sliders were awesome
A bit loud and deoaganized. Private event toon much of the focus from other guests.
Great view. The food was below average. The staff did not charge for the empanada appetizer which we returned because the pastry was chewy. The cocktails were fine. Very nice staff.
I made a reservation for a special occasion. I got an email asking me to confirm., which i did. When we got there, I was told the place was closed for a special event even though i had this confirmed reservation. I don’t even think we got an apology. And i got an email afterward thanking me for dining and hoping i had a god time. Well I can only say that if you want to go to a nice place for drinks in the area, go to the mandarin oriental next door. The bar on the 35th floor is spectacular.
Food menu limited. Service was slow and awkward. Credit card requested at beginning of meal.
I came in by myself and said I was there for dinner. It took the server a long while to address me, I ordered my drink and started looking at menu. She never said it was a limited menu until AFTER I had made my choice. She then brought me someone else’s food because it was a “mistake” in the kitchen. It was awful and dry. If the first person had told me the kitchen availability was limited or nil, I would have left and gone somewhere else.
That was so good guys
Ideal location on Columbus Circle, and perfectly situated over Central Park. Perfect spot for drinks and light fare.
Not the cozy lounge as described. More of a dance club vibe without the dance floor.
Beautiful view but very uncomfortable chairs - Way too deep for a normal size person. The food was really only OK one dish we had to send back. it was not crowded but the service was rather rushed
Great ambience with superb views from the huge glass windows on one side. Not aimed at families, so a good place if you want to escape and have a relaxing drink.
I had a wonderful experience and the hosts were outstanding. My boyfriend and I were on a trip in NY for his birthday and he said it was the best birthday ever. I’ll definitely will be visiting again.
Nice space and view. Not a place to go on a Sat night if you want to be able to talk with friends. The music is just too loud. As the space is not that big, no need for the music to be as loud as it is.
Nice view, nice concept. Menu offered a good variety of small bite options, which could suffice for a light dinner. We tried the road pork blt, grilled cheese and lobster rolls. The first two were ok, the lobster rolls were the winner. Too bread on the first two and nothing noteworthy about them, same with the cocktail. I had a watermelon mojito, again nothing noteworthy. After spending a few minutes trying to find my server to get the bill ( we were only one of two couples in the entire room) we left mildly satisfied. Having said that it's convenient if you work in the area, and would probably try it again, unless somewhere better popped up.
I was there on the early side for a biz drinks meeting. This is a great spot and I can imagine that at a
10:00 pm it is jumping. But I throughly enjoyed my cocktail and will go back.
Outstanding!! Great evening. As the evening wears on the fun ramps up.
Imposible conversar. La música estaba tan fuerte que no pudimos quedarnos.
Always the best for a drink and conversation with friends and someone you love. Amanda, our server was fantastic as always, as is everyone there. The hostess at the door has a wonderful presence and style to her, its great.
Great place. We will be back.
Private event — they take reservations, then kick you out. Embarrassing for business meetings.
Beautiful space and views. Very loud but a late night outing might be worth it.
We recently visited to New York for a week holiday. Within this time it was my wife’s birthday and I booked a table at Ascent for drinks and food.
When we arrived we were seated and gave our drinks order and also our food order.
However, they had a private party happening and all the focus was on this party.
We waited 1.25 hours for our food and nothing arrived. When we spoke to the reception they advised the kitchen was “smashed out with orders” but all the food coming out was going to the private party.
They couldn’t give an estimate on when we would receive our food.
Therefore we cancelled the order and left - this meant that on my wife’s birthday we didn’t get the nice meal and night out we were expecting.
Very poor indeed.
Really had high hopes for this place, but my overall experience was mediocre. While the space had nice views of the park, it lacked the atmosphere; it felt like a hotel lobby - soulless. The service was poor - starting with an impolite hostess, the waitress was not much better. Food/snack were nothing to write home about either. Drinks were fine. Having said that, it is unlikely I will be back.....
Chic and elegant decor, great DJ, and very good food and cocktails. Prices on par for the quality and location in NYC. Anyone surprised by the prices are tourists.
Interesting place, I went on a Friday afternoon at 430pm nowhere near a night time rush hour. First of,
they didn't seem too welcoming to me and oh boy! people working there seem so pretentious. I think they can take it easy and make it more into a real longue experience than make you feel like you are in sitting in place owned by the russian mafia.
I made a reservation but the hostess wouldn't seat me at place I wanted, she says "oh! those are reserved" and I said yep "I have a reservation" and being first to be there, I should be able to choose which reserved table I sit so I said "but you are seating me at one that says reserved so whats the difference" and she didn't have an answer, that was plain discrimination.
Also we felt uncomfortable with constant interruptions by the waitresses, you feel rushed as if they want to serve you and get you the hell out of the place. Thats even when there were like only a couple of guests at that hour. These guys really need a change in their management to something that is more customer-friendly not have an atmosphere of a mafia-run place. We didnt have anything to eat just drinks but no option in opentable so I gave good for food.
What a pleasant surprise we had when we walked into this gorgeous and happy lounge. The views are magnificent. Service was right on target. Lots of surprisingly complimentary (and tasty) treat weres passed around to our table. The menu was diverse enough to fill our needs before our show at the Time/Warner Center - and reasonably priced. Hostess, staff, and atmosphere were lovely. We would highly recommend stopping by.
The server was unaware how often her long hair draped in our food as she served us. Panini didn’t sit well after we left.
I came here in a Thursday night after watching the ballet at Lincoln center. While the room was not crowded, only a few tables were occupied, the environment and vibe was still great. Drinks are great and the food is very tasteful. It’s a little bit pricy. But that’s NYC.
As normal - another great night for my wife and me. I have to say that the experience begins as so as you walk in with Tata greeting you. Her energy, smile and presence are such that you just feel welcome and relaxed and you know you've come to the right place. Much love for her and the rest of the team there as well. Very professional - they know when to approach and when to give some space...
Good but the front hosts were a bit rude. Overall tho, the drinks were delicious and the food was good! The views here were very pretty since we’re pretty high up and the couches and setups were nicely done. I love the pink velvet couches. My friends and I did a mini photoshoot and the servers and staff didn’t bother us so that was really cool even though we were sitting all over their windows and stuff, of course we didn’t do it in an intrusive and rude way :)
Wonderful place to eat, drink, and relax before JALC. Great view overlooking Columbus Circle anfdCentral Park. Small plates, good menu selection. Eat as much or as little as you want. Well stocked bar. Great drink menu. Friendly, attentive, but not intrusive service. All in all a pretty terrific place.
The waitress was ill prepared to be serving us and made multiple mistakes throughout the night.
I had a great time there celebrating my friend’s birthday. The food was great. view was fabulous and service was impeccable!
Ascent just oozes "cool," go and enjoy the great vibe, the view, the location. The service was gracious and helpful. The manager went the extra mile to get my martini just perfect, and it was most appreciated.
