Asador Bastian is a Chicago chophouse with Basque influences from acclaimed Chef
Doug Psaltis. Located in the iconic “Flair House” originally built in 1883, this historic
townhouse has been revived and brought back to life with culinary inspiration from the
great asadors of San Sebastián, Spain to serve the world’s best boutique beef without
compromise. The most remarkable dining experience comes from the purest ingredients
delivered in the supremely thoughtful, welcoming and hospitable manner. This ethos
has directed every aspect of the experience at Asador Bastian, whether you’re joining
us for small bites and libations in our Bar Room or for a more intimate experience in our
Dining Room.

Acclaimed wife-and-husband team Hsing Chen and Doug Psaltis lead the kitchen, which turns out Basque-inspired feasts starring impressive steaks cooked over a live-fire grill alongside caviar churros and arroz cremoso. It’s all served in an opulent dining room decked with olive green leather banquettes and vintage Murano glass chandeliers.

    At Asador Bastian we are excited to offer our Chef's Table; a one of a kind experience. Our Chef's Table is located directly across from our kitchen where you will have a full view of our world class chefs at work creating the dishes that make our restaurant so unique. The Chef's Table is an experience created for 6 or 10 guests. A deposit of $150 per person is required for booking this private dining room. The deposit is applied to the final bill.     We're thrilled to open our doors and kitchen to our friend chef Pedro Peña of José El Carnicero, all the way from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Chef Doug Psaltis and Chef Pedro Peña met through mutual friends and connected through their shared passion for serving the best quality meats in the world. At José El Carcinero, Chef Pedro focuses on the Argentine tradition of slow cooking meats "la estaca" over an open flame. Join us for a special evening as these two chefs combine their passion and expertise to create a unique menu that highlights pork cooked over our charcoal grill. THE MENU Choripan Chorizo de cerdo, mushroom, orange Chicken pate with turnip, port, & caviar Chinchulines with yellow potato gremolata & black garlic Octopus + Squid with red chorizo, beans, and kissy Pork Shoulder Cochinillo with almonds, Urart guanciale, late summer vegetables Sides: Humita Arugula and Basil Dessert Friends in Town, a dining series by OpenTable x Visa, allows guests to experience collaborations between two chefs from different cities creating unique, limited time menus.     It’s probably the best steak I had in my recent years. I’ve been to many fine dining restaurants across NYC Toronto Tokyo and HK, but the steak really gave me a wow. It had the right balance of fat marble and the meaty flavor, executed perfectly with a potato chip like crisp outside, medium rare inside with very sufficient resting. The jambon appetizer was a nice start. The last I had the same quality of jambon was in Madrid. The crab risotto was beautiful. It’s pretty rich so after maybe 6 bites it will start to feel salty and heavy. We shared it so it’s perfect. The famous burnt cheesecake was a bit overrated thou. But overall I would say this is one of the best meals I’ve had in the last 5 years.

    We enjoyed our time with family. The wait staff is very attentive. The food is top of the line steaks. The restaurant is an experience, so try new things and enjoy.

    Service was terrific, ambiance very nice, but the food did not measure up to the high prices. We were expecting/waiting to be wowed, but it did not happen. For a steakhouse, it did not deliver for us.

    Always one of our favorite restaurant experiences. The only negative this time was the courses came out a little too quickly. We enjoy a little slower pace and would have probably bought another bottle of wine if we had a little more time.

    Waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our table. Waited at bar and had way too much alcohol waiting for our table, which made our actual dinner not pleasant
