The service was great and the food was amazing evening through the current pandemic. Our waiter was so kind and funny. He made us feel welcomed. I would definitely return.
Our waiter was terrific. Dinner was divine. Ate outside and was lovely along the street. Such a nice night out!
It was great to eat at a restaurant again, and asa made it special. All the dishes were fresh and perfectly prepared. I had the ribs, which were tender inside with a touch of crunch and spice on the outside. My dessert was the bread pudding, which was one of the best I've had, laced with a touch of chocolate and caramel.
They're really going the extra mile during extraordinary times. They are going above and beyond in the service, quality, and ambience. We felt super safe sitting outside with the partitions and protections they have in place. The service was just EXTRAORDINARILY friendly and helpful, and though we've been to Asa many times before it felt like a new and special experience.
I love sitting outside and the staff is super attentive and helpful. Food quality continues to be wonderful. The flavors are well balanced and blend together to make a terrific dinning experience.
The mushroom pasta was outstanding, loved our server, so engaging
Our dinner for four last Saturday evening at Asa Los Altos was PERFECT. Eating on the street was fun and comfortable. Food? Sensational. Service...EVEN BETTER.
Here's proof that the preceding is true: I'm taking my wife to Asa Los Gatos to celebrate our anniversary tomorrow night.
IOW: its a DELIGHT.
Everything was delicious including the drinks. Get the Paella!
I met 2 girlfriends here for drinks afterwork on a Friday evening. The outdoor experience was wonderful. Full covid safety precautions in place. The cocktails were lovely. We enjoyed several appetizers. The service was impeccable. We will be back...
Good food but waited for about an hour to receive our appetizers (Caesar Salad and Shrimp). The y checked in at about the 40 minute mark but it was to offer bread and say our order was at the tail end even though we arrived before other people. We had to ask twice for someone to take our order and check on status. I think a lot of places right now are having service issues because of COVID which is sad.
The food is fresh and very California. You won’t swoon over the sauces or ingenious flavors but you will feel satisfied.
Love that Los Altos is keeping outdoor dining (for now). ASA can now expand their
I know that running a restaurant in these times must be very difficult but all the more important to get things right. This was our first time back since last year. We loved all our previous visits to Asa. This time, not so much. The service was spotty, I think our waiter’s mind was elsewhere. Took so long to get our drinks that we had to ask the owner. Had to ask for ice twice. The food was good but not great, certainly not to the quality and flavor we expected based on prior experiences. And my main dish was lukewarm. Overall, for what the meal cost, we did not get our money’s worth. Asa is one of the better restaurants in Los Altos and I want to support them but if they want to continue to charge premium prices, they need to up their game. I hope it was just one off night, so I’ll plan to return.
The food was good. The wine was good. But the wine was incredibly over priced. I hope I have 50 characters.
One of our favorite restaurant. Makes everyday dining feel like a special occasion. Food and service are impeccable. The wine selection and recommendations are top notch. Go support this neighborhood gem!
We could not have made a better dining choice in Los Altos! Everything was terrific.
They are doing a good job given the challenges they’re facing. Wonderful food, excellent cocktails!
Since corona is going to be around a while need to do something to enhance the ambiance of outdoor eating. Sitting on a table over an asphalt street is not ambiance. Service this time very mediocre. Had to ask for water at the table and food was served with no eating utensils at the table. Wine list now seriously lacking. 3 chardonnays less than $80 then jumó to $150. I appreciate the challenges of the new Covid world but our experience here was very poor. Must do better for the people trying to support your business.
The halibut was wonderful, cocktails delicious, and service was outstanding
First meal out after 6 months of shelter in place (our anniversary). Have eaten at Asa before and enjoyed it then; this time it was equally good. Currently Los Altos has blocked off part of the street to enable outside-only dining, so we were nicely distanced (we are in a high risk age group, so were hesitant). Food was outstanding: the vegetarian paella is to die for. My husband had the halibut special and was very happy w/ it. Server was smart, friendly, attentive...Masks required when not eating/drinking.
The food is amazing. I had never eaten here before. It was our friends 32nd wedding anniversary. We wanted to choose a special place. I had the beet salad and scallops. Absolutely delicious. Also, our server was Kevin. He was very attentive, informative and was a joy to chat with. We will definitely come back.
Really enjoyed our outdoor dining experience at ASA. They have done an admirable job in setting up their outdoor seating. And the food and service was still at a level of excellence consistent with pre-Covid dining experiences at ASA.
Food was delicious short of the duck fat potatoes. Service was mediocre, definitely would not come here for a special occasion (i.e. bdays). IF the rear door to the business was meant only for the restroom a sign should be posted rather than an employee making a snide comment that "we can't have people inside" after the customer has already walked through the entire restaurant. Nothing to go out of the way for.
Ate outside due to COVID. Did nice job creating positive dining experience
I've always liked this place. With all the restrictions in place now, they've done a great job keeping it still a nice place for dinning out.
I would prefer to come back when it’s not the COVID timing. Food was limited but it’s not their fault.
the food is very mediocre while the price is very expensive.
I know everything is difficult in COVID time but I was so much looking forward to go to ASA and I was disappointed.
We had a reservation for an outdoor table at 7:30pm, quickly greeted and sat. Beautiful outdoor sitting in the Los altos street. We had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to ask what we wanted to drink. When we say we would like to order food too they just say our drink would be here in few minutes and they would come back for food order. My cocktail arrived in 5 minutes, we had to ask 3 times for my boyfriend glass of wine to arrive 15 minutes later.
10 minutes after someone came to take our order. We waited over an extra 1 hour to get our food, that was good but not great. Maybe it was just that after 90 minutes wait it didn't taste that good anymore. Maybe it was the waiter condescending tone of voice when we asked for our drink and then our food.
The cherry on the cake was that I was really low on sugar and finally they offered us some bread so I would not faint but when the bill came they had charged us $2.5 for the bread.
Are you kidding me? On a $100 check when the reason we needed the bread was the food not coming.
I'm extremely disappointed. I have known Andrew since he was at the Basin and was super excited to take my boyfriend for a nice dinner. It turned out to be a disaster. Arriving at 7:30pm. Dinner served at 9:15pm. Even with the situation is not okay. And to be talked down by the waiter made only things worse.
Great service and high quality food.
Excellent food. excellent service. Great value. Nice place to go in this pandemic
The menu was very interesting, offering diverse selections. Our choices, Prawns,
Arugula Salad, Paella Valencia and Trout were all delicious. Our server, Manuel,
was pleasant, professional, knowledgeable and attentive. We look forward to
Another awesome and safe dining experience at ASA! We tried a few of the new dishes (e.g., Seared Pork Porchetta), and everything was, as usual, delicious! It's always a treat to dine at ASA.
Good food and pleasant ambiance. Asa and their staff doing their best to give a good experience in the current difficult circumstances. Wine list pricey.
Our first restaurant dining during the pandemic. Asa our long time favorite exceeded our expectations. Food was outstanding, Jose, an excellent informed waiter...delightful.
We had never been to ASA. We want to support restaurants and decided to risk the $55 per person minimum. The wait was long, the food was only moderately good and the bill for 4 of us was about $350 including 2 glasses of wine. We won’t be back soon.
We Chose ASA to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We have had other special occasion dining experiences there and were always very pleased. Friday night was an exception. The restaurant appeared to be very overbooked for the outside tables. Our reservation was at 7:30 and there were several parties trying for the very few tables available which all needed to be cleaned.
Our server initially seemed very aloof and inattentive, although that did improve toward the end of the dinner. I think he was just too busy to give us the attention we were used to in the past. We waited an extremely long time just to get our wine and had to ask the waiter what happened. Same for our appetizer and salad. By the time we finally got our main course, it was close to 10pm. The quality of the food was very good, but we lost interest due to the long waits.
We certainly understand the strain on restaurants and businesses trying to survive in these trying times, but expect more from a nice restaurant like ASA since we pay for good service.
Always good 😊
We had a terrific meal and always enjoy the hospitality and professionalism of the staff.
Outstanding, inventive food and service, always a joy!
