The best restaurant in town! We found this little gem on instagram and decided we should give it a try. We’ve been here over a handful of times already. The atmosphere is sophisticated, the service is top notch and the food is outstanding! Each time we go we get our meals paired with wine, and we’ve had a wonderful experience. Nicole is an amazing person and she’s fantastic at her job! The owner is always there, he is the definition of a host! Super personable, greets everyone who comes in and that’s just a few of the type of qualities it takes to run a successful restaurant.
It was an amazing experience. We ordered 5 different appetizers and 5 entrees for 5 people, and all of the plates was so great.
We have had many wonderful meals here. We love everything about the restaurant. We are especially fond of the shrimp appetizer and the meatball appetizer. For the first time we tried the burrata appetizer which was a big hit and also the very salad. Always a pleasure to dine here.
Expected more from the food, it was sub par. We were also disappointed in the knowledge about the wine list from the waiter. We ended up paying for an expensive bottle that was nothing like we wanted.
Just a Thursday night dinner with the GF... food was AMAZING! Alittle tight on space, but that’s just the North End for you!
Definitely will be back! Friendly knowledgeable waiter too! 10/10.
It's important to note that this restaurant is on the 2nd floor of a walk-up. So if you have any physical challenges, this may not be a place to visit. Also, the restaurant is very small, has wooden floors (which slant slight towards one side). So this is likely not a place for a quiet, romantic dinner. The ambiance is VERY energetic, animated, and loud. The tables are close together, so moving around the restaurant isn't easy. My favorite thing about my meal was the wine. They have a great wine list with good selections by the bottle and glass. I visited this restaurant with my 18 year old daughter. We shared the meatballs, I had a glass of Chianti, my daughter had the bolognase and I had gnocchi with lobster. The meatballs were moist and tasty; the marinara sauce on the meatballs was excellent, as was the bolognase (great flavor; homemade pasta). My main course (gnocchi) was ok...not great, not fair, just ok. Not a lot of lobster, the gnocchi was homemade and very soft and supple...the sauce made this dish just Ok....I was looking for the sauce to be a bit more savory than it was. Having said that I would go back to this restaurant and try a different main course. There are a lot of choices on the menu, and there actually was a special (branzino) that in hindsight may have been a better option.
Excellent menu and food. Massimo and Nicole treat you like best friends.
One of the best in the North End.
We had a wonderful experience at Arya Trattoria. The service was wonderful, and the food selection terrific.
The wait staff are the best! They were personable and professional. One gentleman made terrific recommendations and took our order. The other gentleman made sure the table was expertly cleared between courses and our food was served with appropriate timing.
I have been there several times before and was hoping to have a nice evening with friends from out of town, but even though I made the reservation two weeks in advance and asked for a window table, we had to wait 30 minutes and had the worst table in the house.
The food and service was good , even though they messed up my order.....but I will not be back soon. There are too many other good restaurants in the area to take a chance on a table again.
ARYA remains a favorite ..... it is consistently excellent. My North End favorite restaurant !!
This is the BEST place in Boston for Italian hands down. The food is exceptional!!
Octopus special was awesome. Unfortunately, 2 large parties created a very noisy experience for the rest of the diners. Perhaps accoustic panels on the ceiling would help with the noise level? In the summer when the windows are open, it is not as noisy.
We decided to try something new for our annual North End trip to see the Bruins. Arya did not disappoint! We loved the ambiance of this cozy upstairs space right from the start —the friendly welcome, the great window table overlooking Hanover Street, and the excellent service won us over. Amazing, well crafted cocktails and crispy calamari to start were delicious. Next the caprese and house salads were fresh and tasty in very generous portions. Finally the bolognese was one of the best we've ever had, also in a very generous portion. And then the Bruins won the game :-))
We will be back next year!!
The food was outstanding!! From the appetizers to the full course!!
This was our first visit to Arya and everything was great. We ordered the evening specials for apps and dinner...delicious, perfectly prepared, fantastic. We definitely will be back.
Loved it! Will be back!
Arya is an absolutely wonderful experience. Everything is thoughtfully prepared and presented and nothing disappointed! The calamari is arguably the best in Boston and the veal was nothing short of perfect. Nicole deserves special recognition, she went above and beyond to make sure we were treated like the only guests there that night.
Food was amazing, attentive servers, but we were tucked into a corner behind 2 parties and it very quickly got loud... not a big deal, would recommend and return!
The host/Owner was very friendly and accommodating to our party of 6. The octopus appetizer and eggplant appetizers were amazing. Portions very generous. Service was wonderful and attentive and atmosphere was charming.
wonderful and can't wait to go back!
Great food and service. We try and go there once
a year when In town.
Awesome meat balls!
Went last night. Valentines menu. Each course was exceptional. We’ve been to NorthEnd dining at least 25 times. This is the best place so far! Service very good and attentive but not on top of us. Meatball appetizer the best. Both our pasta courses were awesome. I had short ribs were so mist and tasty! My wife had Halibut that was also exceptional. Dessert we were stuffed but as we tried the cheesecake and the chocolate tort both were so good, we took our time and ate it. Menu price was fixed at$100 per person but when you get plenty yo eat and each course is exceptional, in the City it’s a deal.
We can’t wait to go back!
Good service and food was delicious. Lobster gnocchi was a little underwhelming
Great service, great spot!!
Fair food but not for the price. Other reviews here are accurate relative to rushed service and quality of the food. Be careful not to fall for the family-style eating push from the owner and employee-it is a rip-off and they certainly pad the bill. 6 people, 6 apps, 6 entrees, 6 portions, of pasta, 6 drinks, and automatic gratuity, the family-style cost was over $600...same 6 entrees, apps, pasta, gratuity, and drinks off the menu, the cost would have (should have) been just over $400...don't fall for the scam! I mean over $100 per person for Italian? We were not in Italy, were we?
Hidden gem in the North End of Boston!
From beginning to end apps, dinner, wine & desserts were all wonderful. Very attentive service!
Arya Trattoria was one of the best Italian restaurants we’ve been to. We got the chef’s tasting menu and it was well worth the price, you do not go home hungry. The food was impeccable, the portions were more than enough and the house wine was to die for and mixed drinks were made perfectly. Every one of the staff was incredibly nice and made us feel like we were longtime family friends. I would highly suggest this restaurant to friends and family!
First visit with our two teenage grandkids. Proved to be one of the better restaurants I have eaten in, which covers over 50 years of worldwide travel. Second floor with fun photos lining the staircase. Owner opens the door for you and says “welcome to my home”. Excellent menu—except the teens were struggling a bit. Waiter said just tell me what you want and our chefs will cook it. Out comes Chicken Alfredo and Chicken Parmigiana on spaghetti with red sauce. The kids devoured their meals. I tasted the red sauce and it was superb. I had a veal chop that was flavorful and cooked perfectly. My wife had a fish special that was also excellent. Nice wine list. Fun vibrations. Only drawback was as a Steeler season ticket holder for over 40 years, I would not have been able to order the “Tom Brady ribeye”!
We did the chef's choice 3 courses with the wine pairing - it was 100% worth it. We go to dinner in the North End fairly regularly.. it's tough to choose a favorite but this is one of the best I've ever had. The limoncello shrimp are to die for and the pasta the chose for us I would eat every day if I could. Highly recommend!!
Where do I begin with? My husbands birthday dinner turned out to be our worst experience in North End in years! I reserved the table with comments added that we are coming to celebrate his birthday. upon ordering a desert, which restaurant does not think of putting a candle on a desert and wishing you? We have always celebrated our special days in North End because it has amazing food, most places make your evening so special with small gestures but unfortunately this place is so far the worst Italian food for the price we paid. I ordered Ravioli con Funghi pasta. there were hardly 5 ravioli, double the amount of mushrooms and even more charred greens (really greens!!!!) I felt so sick after eating it. My husband ordered chef's special truffle pasta which were exactly the same minus the greens and had fettuccine instead of ravioli but we paid double the price. If you order 3 course meal by chef that is $60 PP but we went for just pasta and they charged us $50 for a plate of pasta. we happily paid but when we let the manager know that it wasn't worth the price, he said because the truffle is expensive... then how was the truffle ravioli half the price? the worst part was that both the sauce were terrible, so watery and salty. Any restaurant is better than this place and serves you a good quality food and service for the money they charge (including the best quality truffle dishes with real truffle shaves)! Never again.. and oh the bread was the cheapest quality and cold. I wish even one thing was worth it.
absolutely amazing food and service. i’m italian so to find a restaurant w authentic food and ambiance it makes me happy. i will definitely be coming back this spring/summer!!!!
Lovely restaurant to eat at with wonderful food!!
They’re know for always treating customers amazing! This place is my favorite spot in the North End! I tell all my friends about them because the staff and food is amazing. They always treat you like family and make sure they check in constantly to see how your experience is. The owner is ALWAYS there which is such a great feeling knowing he is so hands on with his customers and staff.
Always great, never disappoints. Go!
Service was excellent as usual....food awesome
There were four of us in our party and we were shocked at how many people they cram into the small upstairs restaurant. The table we had was not big enough for a party of 4. We kept getting hit by the waiters walking by us as it was so cramped. The food was ok. I will say that the wait staff was extremely attentive especially with our water glasses.
Great Italian-American food. Period.
