Arya Steakhouse - Redwood City Ratings and Reviews
We like many things about Arya; especially their Persian specialties. That is what will keep us coming back. Unfortunately, my husband’s steak was very tough and he could only eat a few bites. Our superb server offered us a discount on our meal so we felt like he did his best to make our experience a good one. I️ write this review in hopes that the person who does the purchasing will know about the problem. At $38 for a tough steak is not a good value.
First of all, how can a real "Steakhouse" not have a full bar? Its wine or beer only here. Our waiter forgot we ordered calamari; it never came and nothing was offered to reconcile the issue. Steak was pretty good, but more expensive than it should be. It wasn't very crowded, however the waiter was lacking in attention; we had to pour our own wine. Not a real big deal, but a "Steakhouse" charging these prices should be very attentive to service. There's a lot of better options for steak all around Redwood City.
A waiter Carlos M was extremely rude and told us lots of wrong information for menu. He brought different dishes that we didn't order and also didn't bring ice cream that should have been included in a kid's menu we ordered. He didn't say any apology when we pointed it out but kept giving us an irritated face. We will never come back to this restaurant. If you think of any good place in Redwood City, this is where you should never consider.
The evening was great, food was really good especially the steak. The meet was very well prepared and came out quickly, sides are big enough where you only need to get one or two per two people - very sharable. Portion sizes were very generous and we did not even need to get a salad to be stuffed. Wine list is very broad, good choices from 30 - 600. it was a little odd they closed the kitchen down without asking us if we wanted dessert, we tried to order dessert but were told the kitchen already closed... not preferred but didnt ruin the night either
This was our second time at Arya. The first time, my steak was great, but my husband's meal was only fair. The second time, my husband's filet mignon was excellent, but my Ribeye was full of fat and gristle. The prices are extremely high, and while the food is ok, it is not worth the exorbitant prices. For $37, I would expect an *out of this world* steak. Everything is a la carte, so $37 was only for the steak. A potato on the side was an extra $8, salad was around $15, and the bill for three of us (two of us shared an entree, we had zero alcohol, and the three of us shared one dessert) was $173.00! The service was friendly, but over-familiar, more like a coffee shop than a high end restaurant. If they cut their prices in half, then I'd go back. Otherwise, probably not. I would not give this restaurant any bad marks except that the food and service at Arya are simply not worth the prices being charged.
Arya is a unique restaurant combining Persian food with classic steakhouse fare. It's located right around the corner from the Fox Theater, so it's a great place to dine after seeing a show. We went with the Persian dishes which weer well prepared, fresh, and tasty. The eggplant appetizer was excellent along with the Persian salad which had lots of fresh tomatoes, onions and spices with lemon oil and vinegar. The Persian beef and lamb kabobs were delicious. Overall, I definitely would go back for seconds and thirds at Arya.
Had the combination Kabob which is Barg and beef Koobideh. The Koobideh (ground beef) was tender and juicy. I ordered the Barg medium-rare but it was tough to chew and there was a lot of it. I tried to fimish it until my jaw muscles gave out. I overheard the diners in the next table returning their steak as it was undercooked. Hope the restaurant works with the cook to learn to prepare steak better. Until then, stick with the Koobideh!
Nice atmosphere in a convenient location. Since changing to a steakhouse my fave chicken koobideh was removed from the menu. We had the beef koobideh and bone-in chicken. Both were delicious and service was attentive. We also shared pistachio ice cream which came in a sundae glass.
The steak and the sides were excellent, as well as the dessert. The service was outstanding. The only problem occurred when the cashier did not figure out the billing correctly and had to run our credit cards several times before it finally concluded. we asked to have our check split into 2 so I guess that created a problem and took a while to resolve while we were anxiously waiting since it was close to curtain call for the show we came to see at Broadway By the Bay.
First time to visit Arya at this location. Excellent and attentive staff. Food is flavorful, the rice dishes are especially yummy. The restaurant was quiet, clean and inviting. Public parking is closely located with the added bonus of free parking for the first 1 1/2 hours.
My wife and I came here for her birthday and it was all we expected and more!!! Hostess was very nice, waiter was very helpful and even owner/chef came out to show us our masterpiece "tomahawk" steak and even came out after words to wish us a great night and have some casual conversation. Great atmosphere I already showed off all the pictures of the wonderful meal!!!
We went to Arya before a movie. Shocked at the OUTRAGEOUS prices - $40-120 for steaks with no sides. The "special" was priced at $72! Kababs were $25-30, and while tasted OK, were not remarkable. $15 for a bowl of diced cucs and tomatoes. They are trying to be a super upscale restaurant, and came up very short. Offering steak knives in fancy boxes doesn't justify the prices nor makes it an upscale experience. The gal bussing the table actually pulled my friend's hair through the dirty dish as she was removing it. Can't put lipstick on a pig and pretend it is a beauty queen.
Ambiance and service was very good. Caesar salad was one of the best. We had the kabobs, chicken and filet both with saffron rice. While the meat was tender, it was not particularly remarkable in any way. The filet lacked flavor. I guess we were expecting something a bit more memorable. Good...but just not worth the price
Arya, in my opinion is a great restaurant. I had the Aged Rib Eye and it was very good. The portions are large, so if you are not a big eater, consider sharing. The ambience is great and their new remodel is beautiful. I recommend it highly for both lunch and dinner. And, is suitable for families with children or girlfriend lunches!
The prix fix / buffet menu was not mentioned when I made the reservations. Let's just say that the $200 lunch for three people was a total rip off. The food was cheap and mediocre. The presentation and service were sub par at best. I would never go back. Charlatans....
We were seated at booth at first, where the table and booth are immovable. The distance between the bench and the table is too tight for a average sized human. Per our request and to the credit of the staff, we were quickly reseated. Food was delivered in a timely manner. the steaks we ordered were cooked as requested, seasoned well and were tasty but not excpetional.
Server was excellent.
Our court date got out early so we took a chance they would take us early and they did. Both the owner and server were eager to accommodate, and the food and wine matched our expectations. The steak was perfect, but the Persian sides and entrees are unusually good.
