Arya Steakhouse - Redwood City Ratings and Reviews
This was a great brunch. Had a great California scramble wrap. My husband had smoked salmon Benedict and the eggs were poached perfectly which is a great measure of quality and care. I have done here for dinner also since the change to steakhouse and it was amazing every time
Arya lost my Open Table reservation. Fake blonde receptionist was rude, made us wait 25 minutes and would not seat us even though tables were open. Kebobs were delivered on a hot grill and got overcooked. 3 waiters tried to turn down the flame but could not. On the other hand, our waitress was very friendly and could not blame the restaurant's failures on her.
Very disappointed in our second experience. Hostess was responsible for wine flights and definitely needs training in how to present and explain. Glasses were not clean and sparkling. Great steak, but sides were just o.k. Absolutely love having a steakhouse in Redwood City but in order to compete they need to really step up their game.
We were in town to attend an event at the Fox Theatre and were drawn in by the inviting nature of the outdoor seating. We ordered the Red Velvet Salmon and Braised Lamb Shank. The tart cherries on the perfectly-cooked salmon atop the garlic mashed potatoes was a combination that delighted us! The Braised Lamb Shank on a bed of lima bean and dill jasmine rice was a most interesting combination, and equally delightful. An awesome introduction to Persian food for us. The owner stopped by our table several times to check on us. Very friendly! We are from out of the area, but we would definitely dine here again. Felt like a real treat!
Great food! Unfortunately not so good service. May be just our waiter. (I really hope so, because I like to go back for their food) For party of 3, there were only 2 table set. I had to ask our waiter to give us one more for our 10yo son. He only gave our son a small plate and a folk. No knife, no napkin, no spoon! My son ordered a regular entree ($22) not kids meal. I had to go to the station where clean silverware are by myself to get some for my son who was very disappointed by our waiter's treatment. Throughout our dining there, our waiter did not seem to care about us. I hope we will have a different server next time.
Tried Arya for the first time. Great food and on a Saturday night the traveling belly dancer was fun to watch and chat with. We had "flavored" rice, kabobs and stew. All delicious. Dessert was there specialty Exotic Bomba which we shared. Very unique but good. Only issue was the service. They may have been shorthanded. Took a long to for server to come and then he would be gone for long periods between water pouring, answering questions and taking the order. Once the food came we did not see him for a long time and no one poured water. I asked for my food to be boxed and it took so long to get it we thought he forgot. When I opened the box at home, it was someone else's meal! BUT given it was a Saturday and it was busy and we liked the food enough, we'll probably give the restaurant a second try.
I love this place and I always recommend it to friends. This recent experience was a disappointment. Service was very poor for our group of 9. While the food and place was excellent, the fact that we had to wait a while for our server between courses was poor service. There was an automatic 18% gratuity so maybe the server did didn't care. Lesson here is don't come in large groups.
at the time of our visit the restaurant did not have small spoons for our coffee, we got the big spoons to mix our coffee and eat our cheesecake with. we were told that they don't have small spoons which is not true. the clean up person started to clean our table as soon as we finished eating. we felt rushed. the bellydancer was not that good. I seen better. customer service feedback is very important it helps every business grow. the food is really good the service could be better.
This is the second visit with a friend from out of town. The attraction is the belly dancing. She was very good; she mingled with men and women equally and with 2 large dining parties and diners out side. Everyone was friendly and interested in our enjoyment. My friend had lamb chops ($29) and I had cioppino ($22). We enjoyed our meals. We especially enjoyed the service and the festive entertainment. This included a keyboard player after the belly dancing.
Went to see Alma, the belly dancer. Wonderful food and entertainment with live-ish (synthesized) music. Exotic. Different. Great flavors, sauces, middle eastern dishes. Want to take friends. Noise level is "energetic" due to music and dancing. It is not noisy with loud conversation.
Delicious food at a reasonable price! Staff were super friendly and explained each dish. It was my girlfriends birthday and they saw the gift I was carrying, so they brought us an amazing dessert to finish off our meal! I'm looking forward to going on a Friday or Saturday night when they have live music and belly dancing.
Excellent food. Great menu with something for everyone. Hostess and waiter were very kind and accommodating. Reduced stars are for the atmosphere.
Outdoor seating is awkwardly squeezed into a busy corner sidewalk, which is very poorly shaded (my whole group was squinting or wearing sunglasses).
*If you're planning a date or bringing kids, consider avoiding the belly dancing (Friday-Saturday-Sunday)! I'm a dancer myself and was looking forward to it, but this dancer's attitude and the single dollar bills tucked around her hips made Arya's ambience plummet sharply to "trashy." All three groups in the outdoor seating area (a date, a family with children, and my group) were not into it... which she picked up on and kindly went back inside.
Delicious food. A little bit expensive, but they don't skimp on flavor, which is an issue I've had with other Middle Eastern restaurants. Waiter was very friendly, overall friendly service which is always appreciated.
The koobideh kabob is great.
The pistachio cheesecake is incredible.
This place reminds me or Europe in that "you can't judge a book by its cover" way. Something about the way it looks and feels is sorta on the edge of chain type of place and they serve kababs. But the food is very good. Every dish we've had here has been delicious - every time. That's what you need to know. We always leave feeling happy and content. The fresh herb bread dip they serve is wonderful, bright, and flavorful. The roasted eggplant app is so rich and sinfully delicious! We had the appetizer platter and loved it all - plus it's a lot of food! The kababs are moist and delicious and cooked P- perfect! The meat is cooked through but not dry and the veggies are al dente and all with the perfect kiss of char. The saffron rice is crazy good -so fluffy and buttery. And the service is friendly and attentive. It's also a great location for catching a movie since the theater is in the same building. You can park under Box (tall business building) across the street or under the theater.
