Arya Steakhouse - Redwood City

Steaks are not Prime, cheaper “USDA Choice” grade. They were out of all 5 desserts despite the fact the place was half empty. The waitress felt she needed to tell us about herself - she would have done better to focus on pouring the wine she splashed into our glasses. The oysters were awful - practically nothing to them.
Terrible service, got seated then waited over 10 minutes for anyone to notice us. Had to ask for everything, bread, water, refills, very slow service after that. No full bar, food was average to below average. Will never go back.
Service was horrible!
1. We ask him to bring salt and pepper - he never did?!
2. We ask him what root vegetables has been used - he didn’t know, he said, that he will ask , and tell us later - never did??!!
3. The water was warm without ice,; my wife likes water without ice, but I like it with ice!!!!!
4. Another waiter came, and we ask him the same questions about vegetables, - he didn’t know, also promised us to find out,- never came??!!
5 No one had offered us
any tea or coffe for or dessert, even for an extra charge !!!! ???
So, in general the service was - HORRIBLE!
Horrible service! Waitress informed us that the gratuity was added to our bill. I told her to take it off, which she did. We saw her only once thought the whole dining experience.
The Valentine’s dinner was a three course meal for $65 per person. We started with a spinach salad which was fresh and lite. It was a good start. I ordered the filet mignon but we initially had to use the butter knives to get started. The bread that you would normally start with came after the salad. The steak was very well season and cooked medium rare. The serving size was a good size and the veggies and mash was excellent. The desserts we very small and not very creative or memorable. I would come back to see try the regular menu. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Overall it was good but not outstanding.
Fabulous meat and not just a piece of meat on a plate comes with 1/2 bulb oh garlic and roasted potatoes
Has calamari and carpaccio for apps and they were ok not great but more than passable. Never thought I would say $36 for filet would be a bargain but compared to most steak houses around here it was. This was our second time there and it will be a staple
The flavors in their food are off the chart. We were still thinking about the food well into the evening. STEVE WAS EXCELLENT in helping us choose our food.
Terrible service, waitresses are not trained properly. Food overpriced. Not recommended.
First time visit for lunch, very elegant, quite and comfortable.
Jennifer was a perfect host, charming, personable, and all her suggestions were spot on!
Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back for dinner with friends.
The food was great our server was not. My husband ordered “ the cowboy “ ribeye he received the smaller cut ribeye ( can not recall name). He ordered a bake potato.. it did not come.. waitress blamed it on computer and offered the garlic potatoes because it would. E quicker... those came at the end of the meal
I ordered the yogurt cucumber dip appetizer... it came with the food
The food is really good but the whole meal was off... due to the errors.
We left hoping Steve would have been our waiter...not the poor substitute we were left with
It was a wonderful evening. Food was excellent and the wine recommended was a perfect fit. Our waitress Jennifer was outstanding. I will go back just because of her.
Had a wonderful dinner here for my husband's birthday with our kids. Everyone ordered different entrees and all thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We've been here a number of times and service is always attentive. As it's a steak house it isn't cheap, but we all left extremely satisfied.
We went New Year's Eve. Our server happened to be Steve the General Manager. He was so attentive to us. Ensured we had drinks and water and that our food was to our expectations. He even explained the portions of the sides were meant for sharing. Which was great because the baked potatoes were huge so we shared 2 between the 4 of us. Great dinner to end one year and bring in a new. Will go again for sure. Thank you Steve for a wonderful evening and treating us with such care and kindness.
Great food and service as usual.
First time here, party of 5. We had hummus and calamari to start, and kabob platters for dinner. Sides of sweet potato fries, spinach, and mushrooms. Everything was okay. Just nothing special. Server was overbearing to begin with, then relatively absent. With so many great choices in the Valley, no reason to return to Arya.
Family New Years Eve dinner. Staff was very courteous and food was very flavorful. Even better one can take their own wine for a small $20 corkage fee.
This place serves both Persian cuisine and steakhouse. I would definitely go back as service was attentive and ambiance was romantic. Their Persian cuisine was delicious and huge portions yet the steak was disappointing. It seemed as if it was more steamed as opposed to being on a grill - it was missing that charred taste. Definitely come to enjoy the ambiance, service and Persian cuisine. You won’t be disappointed!
Just had a wonderful family dinner at Arya Steakhouse. The food was excellent and the service amazing! Jennifer is the best! We were treated like VIP's. It made for such a relaxing and enjoyable time with my family. Everyone found a menu item that was exactly to their liking. Jennifer was super helpful with suggestions and possible substitutions to make our evening and dining experience perfect!
While a little spends for lunch, the atmosphere food and service make it worth it. The server, Jennifer, is super knowledgeable and helpful. All the help is attentive and professional. We will return for the next special lunch!
We were disappointed with Arya. It was our first visit for dinner. We ate on Christmas Eve. Here are the issues:
1) Our food was okay, but none of it was special. The a la carte price for smallish steaks was ~$35, and although the steaks were tender, they appeared to be pan fried. Mine had significant areas of gristle (easily cut around). Just nothing special. Nothing like other steakhouses on the peninsula.
2) The steaks were served on a wood platter with a pile of crystal salt. We don't eat salt. The salt became brine quickly and leaked everywhere. Had to ask for new platters.
3) We all ordered potato sides, because the steaks were a la carte (my baked potato cost $8), but the steaks were actually served on top of potato cubes. Should have been told and then could have not spent money on the sides. (Although the sides were better than the cubes -- again, just nothing special).
4) Service was strange. Attendants asked for our plates many times during the meal, at least 4 times when we were obviously still eating! (We did not have appetizers or deserts, so about twice would have been normal.) I've never had an experience like that. It made us feel uncomfortable (the restaurant was not full, so I don't think they were trying to rush us).
5) Live mouse was running around in dining room. Again, makes you feel uncomfortable.
6) Heirloom tomato salad was good enough, but the mozzarella cheese was strangely like gravy in consistency.
Great service & caring, Entertaining Server. Unique mixture of ethnic flavors
Very disappointing. Don't go! I tried this lovely place for Persian food in the past and it was very good. Revisited on 12/22 and found lots of changes. No more belly dance performance but expanded menu to include expensive steaks. My friend loves steak more than Persian cuisine and so he ordered a 16oz ribeye medium rare, pretty standard item for a steakhouse. My beef kebab turned out okay, a little dry and not much flavor, at least edible. But my friend got his steak well done (way over cooked) when served. The waiter was kind enough to take it back and ask the kitchen to prepare a different one. After 3 minutes, he got his steak but this time it is completely rare and not cooked. He was so mad that he cancelled his order and left empty stomach. How can a so called "steakhouse" not even able to cook a steak? The manager did come out to apologize but with an attitude. This is definitely NOT the same restaurant that I visited before. I felt so bad for recommending the place to my friend on the first hand. AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AGAIN!
The waiter was so friendly and suggested foods as it was our first time. The food was good and lots of it. I ate from my doggy bag for two days.
Excellent food, great ambiance and superb service. Thoroughly recommended.
The restaurant is Large, so it's easy to have a quiet table, even though they may be busy. Our friends had breakfast foods, and we had lunch items! nice variety.
There was quiet a wait to be seated even though we had a reservation and the staff we not very friendly when asked what was going on. Once we were seated though we had a wonderful waiter. I had the filet which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the cowboy steak and said it was much more gristly than he expected.
Awesome! Nice ambiance!
Had a great 3 years anniversary dinner! My girlfriend loved it! Especially appreciated the surprise dessert they served us as well. Very nice gesture. Loved the fact that this is one of the only authentic Steak houses to serve almost entirely Halal meat!
WOW , we just had an amazing meal here tonight.
First off, we were greeted right away with a smile and a very warm welcome. We were very fortunate to have a fabulous server. She was full of awesome knowledge of the menu & how the food was/is prepared.
The pomegranate pistachio meatball is a delicious start to a fantastic meal. I had the dry age ribeye steaksteak it was cooked to perfection. I’ve only once before had a steak that melted in my mouth. Kudos to the chef. Also the garlic sautéed spinach was a perfectly cooked with just the right amount of garlic .
This is definitely a peninsula Gem. Quite possibly the best restaurant in Redwood City. Definitely have quite a bit of hidden talent hear.
Thank You For A Fantastic Meal...
Very nice ambiance. Attentive service. I have never been to Redwood City but after researching a good steakhouse this one caught my attention most. Glad I went there. Lots of food for the price and unique combination with Middle Eastern flare of dishes and spices.
Quiet environment and good service. Food service was prompt and the food tasty.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal with friends at this special restaurant. Jennifer was our waitress and she gave us the very best service and was helpful in recommending different dishes. Very wide variety of food selections. We ordered steaks which were perfectly done. We will be back.
I was really disappointed with the dining experience Arya. The rib-eye that I ordered was tasty, but small gnat like bugs kept emerging from underneath the board that the steak was served on throughout my meal. I literally smashed 5 or 6 bugs during my dining experience.
The truffle fries were soaked in oil. Also, my steak-knife in addition to my friend's steak-knife was dull.
While our waiter was friendly, he was not attentive at all and essentially disappeared until I asked another server for our check.
Side note, the dining booths are incredibly tight and not very comfortable.
We are fond of this restaurant but don't frequent as much since the menu has changed
The food was wonderful and the service was impeccable.
The food was excellent and service impeccable. I would go back again.
The staff was very friendly and made our special occasion a night to remember. The menu had a good variety and the food was delicious.
Our dinner at Arya was okay. It did not stand out as an amazing experience nor was it terrible. We arrived ten minutes before our reservation and was seated immediately. The staff attendance was fantastic. Sadly the Wagyu wasn't available but I settled for the Bone In NY while my wife ordered the Dry Age Ribeye. Both were amazing (note: most places overcook their steaks a bit no matter what you order. When you order rare here, it really is rare). The roasted garlic? Superb. The Truffle Fries could use a little more truffle, but that's more personal preference. The cocktails were mediocre, but that was alright.
All in all, the dinner was alright. I went there for my birthday dinner, which I had jotted down when I made a reservation. Sad to say, no one brought it up or made the night a little more memorable. That was acceptable. It was definitely not expected nor is the restaurant required to do so.
I probably would have left the restaurant with a 4/5 as the food was amazing and the staff ensured we were taken care of (I didn't rate it 5/5 because it just didn't feel like an amazing experience). However, I would have to say this was a 2/5 night because when we were done with our meal, both of us had half a steak left, my wife had half of her baked potato remaining, and my fries were practically untouched. I also ordered their Herb Butter for an extra $2 on the side. Needless to say, we requested this packed up to go. I also specifically requested that the Herb Butter was packed up (I mean, I did pay $2 for it...). When it came back, however, the Herb Butter wasn't there. Since it was so small, I didn't bother asking and left. When we got home, however, I noticed that my fries were not in the bag! I barely ate any of the fries because the steaks and appetizers were so filling, but I still wanted the fries. If I had still been at the restaurant, I definitely would've asked for this. I'm not sure if the waiter just didn't hear me, wasn't sure, or it was negligence.
We had a wondeful (adult only- left the kids home with a sitter) dinner the other night. Food was great, ambiance was wonderful and service was excellent!
Wish they had a full bar
