   Excellent meal! Have been going to Aruns for 20 years. Quality of food is outstanding. We ordered the 12 course option and it was too much food. No complaints however! The restaurant, however, is overpriced. It came to $497/- for 3 of us. That was before adding the tip. We did not order any drinks. Ouch! The service was superb. We totally enjoyed ourselves.

   My dining experience was most disappointing. After being seated 17 minutes and several servers passed our table before taking our drink order. I emailed my dietary restrictions stating Vegetarian. Waiter went over my dietary preferences. We ordered the 10 course. We were offered an 8 course and wish I'd gone with 8! The interior was dated and needed some TLC. The waiter pointed out that we were drinking "tap" water (oh, no, imagine that!) and had a very snarky attitude which later revealed an insecurity about the menu and ingredients in each dish! 1st course met with all of my restrictions. 2nd course I was served CHICKEN! Waiter told me, "I thought you ate chicken" Then a female server came by and said the waiter told her I ate chicken! They were arguing with my husband and I. It was very uncomfortable. I wanted to leave. I was very embarrassed and the encounter lasted for several minutes. Finally a vegetarian substitute was served. I was served salmon twice! The presentation was dated and the food was good, but not great as I remember from my past 2 visits. The waiter made an attempt to make up for the unprofessional conduct my offering a glass of wine, however that was not enough to ever make me want to come back to Arun's. Our bill was over $360. We were still shocked by the confrontation by the servers, and that more was not done to make our dining experience pleasurable. It makes me very sad to see such an established institution gone so far downhill. I guess it was no wonder why there were so many empty tables available!

   We celebrated our parent’s 50 th wedding anniversary. Definitely too expensive especially since the food was not impressive. Not bad but also not good enough to ever go back or recommend. The service was poor. I didn’t get my cocktail until almost middle of a very long meal. So that made me not order anymore cocktails. But then water was not filled promptly either. Sometimes they did not tell us what was in the food like a typical tasting would and we would have to ask. We went here 19 years ago for NYE and that was a much better experience, needless to say the quality has definitely gone downhill.

   Food is good but pretty pricey for the quality. Price wise it competes with Alinea but can’t compete on quality. Overall though we had a good time.

   Wonderful treat. We ran with the mid serving (I think it was 7 platings versus the 12) and loved it. For sure a special occasion dining experience, but I recommend it. Everything was a taste sensation and as I write this review almost one year later, I really want to go back.

   Anniversary dinner - got the 12 course. Was beautifully presented and the flavors were great. Food was 5 star. Service was 4 star. Be prepared for a long (4 hour) experience with the 12 course.

   Lovely dinner with attentive service without being intrusive. Inventive tasting menu that was well executed. We did the wine pairing too which was fun. I wish we lived in Chicago so we could come more often.

    This  meal was by far the most enjoyable I have had in the last 12 months - additionally this was the most authentic Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. We opted for the 12 course menu and accompanied with multiple wines and cocktails. As for the cocktails I recommend the black Thai affair! They offer 8,10 and 12 courses - so there are multiple options. Our favorite item in this tasting menu of twelve was the lobster tail and the seabass. Another popular item was the shrimp cake with a semi pickled salad. Finally the service was exceptional, George is an excellent server- knowledgeable about wine, cocktails and the flavor profiles of the food. We had a pescatarian, a celiac and carnivores in our party and all were expertly catered to! Fully recommend! I can't wait to go back!

    Arun's is a culinary experience. Some of the best food that I have ever had was from Arun's and this visit was no different. The mango dessert that we had was the best sweet I'd ever tasted. I only wish that it was sold a la carte!

    Not just a great Thai restaurant, but a great restaurant period. Perhaps the finest I’ve ever been at. A bit of sticker shock when you see the bill, but still worth it.

    Really liked this restaurant. Very attentive/service oriented. Great wait staff. Table was ready at the time of the reservation - no waiting. Wine selections were very good. Interesting Thai decor. Loved my food, but we should have opted for the 10 rather than the 12 course meal. I am planning to come back during the week when they offer 6-8 course meals. Nice place for a special occasion. Amazing presentation.

    I've patronized Arun's twice in 2008 and 2010 prior to this recent visit and was blowned away both times. Been telling everyone how amazing the food was. I took my boyfriend and best friend this time excited for them to experience the same greatness as my previous 2 times. I was so very upset and disappointed this time. The course was increased to 10 or 12 which was overkill. But worst of all was the food. I didn't eat seafood and ended up with dried chicken EVERYTHING. My friends stated that all they got were seafood, seafood, seafood. The flavors and diverse ingredients and dishes of the post were completely gone! Adding insult to injury, my bill was over $500 with a $100 tip which meant the past $75 8 course dinner was now doubled and with food that was not worth anything. Really upset.

    The food was good but simply wasn’t worth the exorbitant prices. Also I was very disappointed that they keep their wines in a hot basement cellar. We had to taste test very warm wine which was meaningless and then wait 20 minutes for the bottle to be chilled down. You shouldn’t charge people so much if that’s the type of service you are providing. There were also a total of 3 tables at the restaurant on a Friday night which felt very awkward. Again it may be time to lower the prices here.

    I haven’t been to Arun for years but it was K&L wife’s bday and thought it was a good time to go back. We had the full 12 course menu. Overall everything was great. Not every dish was a home run, i.e. seafood medley entree, probably a double but the key is everything was fresh and authentic. As my wife is Thai, chef Arun even made a dish especially for her. Who does that! If you enjoy Thai food and have something to celebrate this is the place to go.

    This was our first time here. Were were just in Thailand and were excited to try Arun's. It was good, not great. We were here for our anniversary and overall, dinner was disappointing.

    There are some experiences that are truly unique and impeccably executed - This is undoubtedly one of them. From the very beginning until the finale of the 10 course meal we chose to partake in, I was in awe at how well executed the food was and how impeccable the service was. George truly is a marvel and in every single dish, it is clear how well versed he is in Thai cuisine and more importantly, in Arun's menu. He was extremely thorough, considerate and explained everything better than any wait staff I have ever come across. I highly suggest the 10 (or more ) course meal to truly get the full experience, and enjoyed the pad thai noodle dish, the dumplings starter and the shrimp pastry the most. Everything was divine and I look forward to coming back soon!

    I didn’t realize the menu did not permit a la carte. Was surprised by bill. About $200/person for 12 course tasting - 3 pescatarian one vegetarian, 2 drinks per person.

    I am so thankful I didn't let my wife know I was taking her to Aruns because she would have gotten on that review site and seen some very incorrect comments. I can't believe what people have written. This place is the real deal from top to bottom. I was in awe, so was my wife and 12 year old son. Yes it costs a chunk of change but it is worth every penny. Staff explained every single ingredient and it wasn't like they were reading off a script. I looked around the room and it was spotless as it should be. The food was the best I have ever eaten and I have been to many good restaurants. You really need to go here. This was my second visit. The first one was 14 years ago. This was every bit as good as the last visit. And, compared to other high priced restaurants, this is probably the best deal.

    Our waiter George was welcoming, cordial and attentive! The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We even had some “dessert artwork” by Owner Arun delivered to our table. My first visit to Arun’s was a few years after they opened this location and I took my friend there this time for her first experience EVER fine dining. Her favorite food is Thai. This restaurant blew her away! We had a lovely evening, did not feel rushed and enjoyed the entire evening from start to finish! Expect to pay more for this experience but this is Chicago — this is what to expect for a night out at a fine establishment!

    Food First. We had Chef's 10 and 12 prix-fix menu. Simply Delicious!! And, the artful presentation was a feast for the eyes! Our server, George enhanced our dining experience from beginning to end with his delightful disposition and colorful ingredient and history description of each dish. His knowledge was amazing and his service on point and unpretentious. He really made our evening a memorable and lovely experience. Beautiful ambiance. Great chef story. What an interesting journey! Thank you. We'll be back!

    Arun’s is by far the best Thai restaurant I have been to. It’s just an amazing experience. The food is amazing, the murals on the walls and decor is phenomenal and the cocktails were extremely delicious as well. I wish that folks pay attention and visit this place more often.

    The restaurant was dead on a Saturday night, yet our reservation got confused multiple times upon arrival, they couldn't figure out how many of us there were and got us confused with another table? Once we were seated it took over 10 minutes for anyone to greet us or give us a menu. Then we ordered 2 drinks and it took 20 MINUTES for them to arrive, I have never waited for drinks/a meal to start longer than we did here. It was all downhill from there ... The menu and pricing wasn't quite explained to us and we were shocked when the bill arrived! $150/person for food, plus drinks, our table of 4 had a bill of $1000. Which I will gladly pay for the right service, food and experience, this is definitely not it. Now I understand why the place was dead. Stick to your neighborhood Thai joint!

    Much too pricey!! It was truly like Basic Thai food made with better grade meats and presented beautifully! Just not worth the money AT ALL! So sad, as we were so excited to try it! The decor and ambiance was pretty awful! I don’t think they are aware of all the new restaurants that have popped up in Chicago in the last 10 years. No wonder Aruns was, on a Saturday night, not near full capacity. I don’t mean to be so harsh, but, for the price, I don’t want anyone else to be disappointed like I was!😢

    Arun's was such a treat. The presentation was beautiful and I could not have taken another bite of food by the time we left the restaurant after almost 3 hours. The courses were spaced out perfectly, and each dish had such a unique flavor that I had not ever tried in Thai food before. The wine pairing was great and the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the food and drinks. This was the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a new Thai dining experience.

    Incredible! I’ve been wanting to get here for years and am so glad to have the occasion. The food was beautiful, delicious and creative, the layers of flavors were a delight to the senses. The sorbet at the end was the freshest, lightest and most flavorful I’ve ever had. Entire experience was outstanding.
