Artisans Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The lunch menu was a great deal (good value) coupled with great quality. The server was very knowledgeable and offered great comments during the course of the meal. I was hosting my clients and will do this again, as this restaurant makes the client feel special.
Christmas eve dinner featured all the chef's top dishes including butter poached lobster, fois gras, and venison. The dessert chef created the best buche Noel I have ever had. All courses were paced just right. We enjoyed the chef counter seating with its' view of the bustling kitchen.
Definitely a favorite of ours.
Very pleasant evening. We had pre-theater reservations and informed the staff in advance or our intent to be out by 7pm. Despite our late arrival the staff made every effort and succeeded in getting us fed and out the door by 7:05pm. They even managed a small birthday surprise.
I went for a holiday dinner with friends. It is a nicely decorated restaurant good for dates and special occasions. The ambiance was elegant and muted (not many persons for a Tuesday night). I had L'entrecote did beauf and it was delicious and sizeable, but my wife's plat-cotes de beauf braisees and my friend's Le filet de beauf au poivre were a tap dry for my taste but they enjoyed it. They have a good wine list and made a good cocktail for my wifey.
The service was excellent from pacing/timing and attention to detail. Kudos to the wait staff.
It's not cheap but I had a great time. Will definitely return for another special occasion.
We came on Friday late night for a 10 year anniversary dinner and it was fantastic. I was looking for restaurants to go to and had no idea where to go since we hardly ever come to the downtown area. Looked up Zagat and it was rated one of the best and it did not disappoint. We got the 6 course dinner and the wine pairing option. All of the items were great and was so full once the dessert came around. Was pleasantly surprised when our dessert plates had Happy 10th anniversary written in chocolate. We highly recommend this place.
This is a wonderful French inspired resto in a very nice neighborhood of Houston!
I enjoyed a business dinner of 4 and would like to return again next time I visit town. I recommend their cheese plate and also recommended talking with their sommelier for wine pairings.
They do a very nice vegetarian dinner if you feel like lightening up on a meal while still having delicious food.
We were seated without a wait even though we arrived early. Appetizers were first-rate: my favorite was braised short rib with goat cheese ravioli. Also recommended was oyster with jalapeño cornbread. My husband's pork was more successful than my average turkey with mushrooms. I was very Thankful for the dessert: pumpkin genoise with chocolate ganache.
As an aside, I love the layout of the restaurant. On a previous visit, we sat at the bar. This time, we chose a corner booth - I preferred the coziness.
I had a great experience a while back for Easter brunch. Dinner the other night -- a very quiet night at the restaurant -- was a big disappointment. The place was virtually empty. We sat down and were handed menus. We were asked if we were ready to order before our server even bothered to ask about drinks. Then she disappeared so we had to track down a manager to get a drink order. We all agreed that the food was a mixed bag. The wild boar I order held great promise but tasted rather "old" and the accompanying ravioli was barely warm. Dessert was also uninspired. I think for the price they can do better. A lot better.
Beautiful restaurant with ambiance for a special occasion or date night. I brought my grown kids to town and had promised my daughter (who studied french in college) to bring her to this swanky french restaurant. She loved it, and invited a friend along for the fun. Great experience in a classy atmosphere with delicious food!
