Magnificent! I love everything about Artisans. The food, service, and atmosphere is phenomenal! I love to sit at the bar and watch the food prep. It truly is an experience. I would go back in a New York minute!!!

Outstanding meal. A top quality steak is not normally found in French restaurant, but this is different. All courses were well prepared and plated and the whole evening was memorable

Beautiful restaurant with ambiance for a special occasion or date night. I brought my grown kids to town and had promised my daughter (who studied french in college) to bring her to this swanky french restaurant. She loved it, and invited a friend along for the fun. Great experience in a classy atmosphere with delicious food!

Dined on a Friday night, glad we got a quiet table as requested. the restaurant has separate dining areas for large groups/ parties, so everyone can be comfortable depending how lively the atmosphere they want to be. the bar seating with the open kitchen is great! tried the tasting menu. a bit of " Americanized" french flavours and portions of the tasting menu could be smaller, but we are in Texas...I guess Chef needs to adapt.. lots of interesting food combinations, some "stretch" your taste buds (like foie gras, for ex, with baklava - sweet and sweeter) but overall good.
ALL (!) wine pairings were absolutely spot on, very impressive.
service was very good, attentive without being a nuisance.
As a "critique" feedback : from the restaurant of this level, table linen or some sort of place-mat arrangements is expected (ie putting the cutlery on the bare wooden table is good for pubs..) also, at one point in time the waiter just used her hand to wipe the crumbles off the table (again, an odd gesture from a restaurant where you pay 300 USD for dinner for 2) .
overall, good evening, good impressions but probably not the one we would put on the list to go back regularly.

Family went for the wine pairing event. Wine pairings were great. Dishes were innovative and delicious. Something that we would not have gotten to try otherwise but will definitely order if offered on the regular menu. Wonderful evening indeed!

It was our 15 year anniversary. We sat at the kitchen bar/chefs table and it felt like dinner and a show. Gregory was amazing. He went the owner, Mr. Fox, over to say hello and he ended up giving us a tour of the kitchen! The food was amazing. I have to try the lobster bisque everywhere I go and theirs did not disappoint. My cocktail was one of a kind! The food and service and experience were unparalleled, we've been telling everyone!

Most underrated restaurant in Houston. Food is excellent and service on point. Caviar starter isn't cheap, but awesome value for money. Quiet, yet fun atmosphere. Easily the best place in Houston.

Took the wife here for our wedding anniversary. We came on a weeknight so it may have been quieter than usual but that suited the occasion for us.

Everything from the food to our waiter, Freddi, were on point. The ribeye was one of the best I have ever had.

Highly recommended, I wish we had another reason to come out more often.

Repeat visit for our monthly foodie club. Continues to be outstanding for food, service
has improved, and remodel seems to have made interior more patron friendly. Not all
counter seating as in the past. Wine list complete, not overdone, moderately expensive.
Will be a repeat for our group.

The wine list leaves a lot to be desired, for a french restaurant, the French wine selection was both too young and rather limited. The food was fine. I think the best way I would describe it is rustic fare. It was what you'd expect if you were invited into someone's country home in France and they whipped up a quick meal. Not fancy french food by and not particularly excellent "country fare." While there was nothing to complain about the food, there was nothing special either. And the prices definitely reflect something special. With all the other options in Houston, we will likely not return.

Great food and great value! Went for restaurant week. The potato leek soup was devine. The short rib entree was great. The creme bulee was wonderful, but the mango mouse was a feast for the eyes and the palate!!! Oh, did I say the bread was the best French bread I've had in Houston! Love it!!!

Returned the steak because it was over cooked. Requested medium rare. The waiter did not seem to be very helpful and at times seemed impatient with us. It was our 5th year anniversaryz

Food this time was not as great as I am used to. It wasn't tasty, it was not served hot and it seemed it had been sitting there for a while. However, I have eaten very well in this place before so this so so experienced will not stop me from coming back.

Best French restaurant in Houston. By far. This month we went with the Restaurant Week menu which really does not do the restaurant justice, but is still very very good and a steal: terrine de porc; ribs; mango parfait; great cocktails.

Service as always was wonderful And Jacques -- the sexy wonderful propietere- makes everyone feel welcome.

My husband and I have been to Artisans several times and always loved it. We brought my sister and all ordered from the HRW menu. I was unimpressed with the food. The chicken wellington was OK, but rather dry. The crème brulee was boring. The salad was the best part. It was quite disappointing. We'll likely go again because we had previously enjoyed it, but I'll have to think twice about it.

I had read the reviews and was really looking forward to a great dinner. The food was ok, but honestly the food was avg for the taste. I do not plan on going back. For the price point I was expecting a very tasty meal but there was not enough sauce to cover the chicken, the chicken was very dry and tasteless.

Was on an overnight jaunt to the big city to see an exhibit at MFAH. Researched French restaurants and decided on Artisans. The menu is so appealing, I expected to get a good dinner. My expectations were too low. I got a great dinner, start to finish. This is a real jewel in downtown Houston. Food that thoughtfully sourced and well prepared would be a value at twice the price. Please patronize Artisans. I want to know that it will be there when I'm back in town.

Excellent meal and service, even had quick valet parking for a reasonable price. Looking forward to another visit! The only downside was that my date and I were cornered by a panhandler as we were waiting for the valet to return our car...kinda trapped. The management should make arrangements to stop this intrusion.
