The owners of Artisans Restaurant have created a place unlike any other. The vast working kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant, with views from every seat in the building. The culinary team works like an orchestra, where their composer is the owner/executive chef and they work in unison to create art for their audience consistently while paying attention to every detail.

The food, service and hospitality was impeccable. Chef Fox is wonderful to visit with and his recommendations were amazing! This is a GREAT restaurant with amazing beef & seafood dishes and a very nice wine list that is very reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back.
The table next to us was way too loud and was getting lots of special attention. It was very distracting for what should have been a romantic date. The salads had no flavor. The vegetables in the dishes were the best part-aside from the spinach. It was the saltiest thing I have ever eaten and I love salty stuff.
Great all around service- personal Touch Is refreshingly old fashion!
This is my second visit to Artisans as we enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere so much the last visit I wanted to return. The second visit did not disappoint! The food and service is one of the best in Houston and we will regularly frequent this restaurant when we are in town. If you appreciate quality fine french dining, this is one of the best I have enjoyed.
My husband and I love going to Artisan's. The bar has the best view of the kitchen in action and we enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu.
The food was exceptional. The courtesy outstandingl.
Overall a great Thanksgiving Brunch experience.
However we were seated by the bar and too close to the next table.
The food was perfect.
Anniversary dinner well spent. Our first time at this restaurant and trying French cuisine. Server was friendly and offered opinions on the menu. Our food was delicious and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back in the future.
Outstanding food and service. Got too full to try dessert
A surprise excellent from the moment we arrived. Every aspect was well executed.
I have dined here before and had a nice time. However, this last time, despite all 4 people at the table continuously ordering drinks, we had multiple people come by asking if we were done with the wine list. The last time, Grace, our waitress, just took the wine list off the table and walked away with it, without asking us if we wanted to order another glass (and 2 of us had just finished our glasses and were about to order another), which put a damper on the evening. Supposedly there are only 5 wine lists available at the restaurant, which is clearly not enough. Additionally, our first course was late, and our second course was served before we even finished our first course. The service that night left a lot to be desired.
This place is wonderful! The food is terrific and the service amazing!
Went for birthday day. Loved the space and the food for the most part was good other than the ribeye being over-cooked. We will go back
As others have noted, the food is not exceptional nor plentiful - nor a god value for the price. Nice staff and interior, but that’s about the best of it.
Place was beautiful very intimate setting absolutely loved the experience!!
Food is good. Service is so so. I was expecting the service of a 4-5 star dining place with great attention to details but got that of a chain eatery instead. We made reservation for a birthday dinner and were seated at a table with high chairs! Fining dining on high chairs? We didn’t come for beer and finger food! I don’t understand the logics here. And the chairs were wobbly too. I had to swap those chairs myself. And no one seemed to even notice!
Waitstaff need to be trained how to serve more formally if this place wants to become a better restaurant.
Was hoping to find another wonderful tasting menu restaurant after The Pass closed it doors and found this. I’ve done tasting menus in various US and international locations and this place is NOT that. There was nothing inspiring or adventurous about the dishes. Just smaller sizes of nicely plated food. The server stumbled through the description of them. The pallet cleanser was counted as a course and honestly was the best thing on the food/wine pairing menu. The wine pairing was a joke. Nothing complimented the food and I doubt they even a sommelier on staff. Again the server stumbling through a rehearsed spiel and no presentation of the bottle or history of the makers. Touted themselves as traditional French restaurant but didn’t even have Krug on their champagne menu. Service was clumsy, nothing about it was coordinated and wasn’t timed properly.
The ambience and decor is lovely. But expectations for a fine dining tasting menu experience it is not. May come back again and just order off the menu as some of the other dishes looked good.
Great foods and wines
My wife and I went to Artisans to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff was very kind and recognized the occasion multiple times which was very nice. I had the 6 course chef's meal which was for the most part very good. It was great to have some dishes that I don't typically get to enjoy. The lobster bisque in the little coffee cup was one of the highlights for me. I would have had a huge bowl of it. The rest of the meal was good, but not life changing (which maybe is too high of an expectation to have which is on me). The dining room was mostly empty and the lighting was SO dark. I get that it was set for romantic lighting, but we had to hold our menus up to the small light on our table to read them.
It's a pricey meal, but you get some good food and an overall decent experience. I doubt we will go back, but I'm not upset about it. Just wasn't our cup of tea and I'm okay with that.
I highly recommend the tasting menus. Too many highlights to list.
A definite must experience for your taste receptors
This restaurant has high quality french food. Arriving at 12:15, we were immediately seated. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful bouillabaisse. It contained small fingerling potatoes and large shrimp, tomatoes and all of the right ingredients for this hard to find dish. Also, I forgot my credit card, and they called me immediately. Very nice people and a wonderful ambience for dining! Well done...
Food was quite good, ambiance very nice, service was prompt to bring out food, but spotty otherwise.
The food is just perfect, the wine too.
the ambiance is a little bit too dark, not easy to see the detail of what you are eating
My wife and I have been to Artisans on a number of occasions now. I really enjoy the pepper crusted filet and my wife loves the lobster bisque and roast chicken.
What a pleasant surprise! So many times the photos don't match the experience , but in this case every dish was better than we could have asked. Service was beyond expectation and I will frequent this location again. Food quality was wonderful and the menu has something for everyone. And lastly the spicy ole fashion had an interesting twist that will make all others bar drinks feel second rate. In short if you haven't gathered we found the evening perfect and 3.5 hours later we left well fed.
Foodie restaurant and a great place for a romantic meal!
Outstanding! First timer. Staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and went out of their way to make our dining experience a memorable one. Did the 6-course meal with wine pairing. What a treat! The awesome “band” (singer and bass player) added just the right French flare.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston. It is so good and so consistent. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and the food is fabulous. My wife and I have eaten at many three-star restaurants, including some of the most famous in the world and considers ourselves to be fairly “foodie.” We both agree this is an excellent restaurant, top to bottom!
Food is excellent
Artisans continues to be one of our favorites Houston haunts. Wonderful service (thanks, Kent). Fantastic food - for a meat lover (try the entrecote de boeuf poelee), for seafood (try la volaille et son homard), and even for a vegetarian. And of course, excellent wine and ambiance - you just feel like you are in France. Thanks once again, Jacques and team. We are sorry to see you move on, Simo, but good luck on your new adventure.
The ambiance was perfect for our anniversary dinner. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Expensive but worth it!
The food and the service were excellent. The only complaint that I have is the seating area that they gave me. When I made the reservation, I told them it was a first date and requested a table. When we arrived, they sat us at the bar. The bar was crowed, loud and there was no privacy. There were open tables behind us and I asked about them and why we were seated at the bar instead of a table. They said that they didn't have any tables open for a party of two. The two tables behind us were for four. However, two hours later the tables were still empty. When the guest arrived, there was only two in each of the parties. We could have been seated at any one of those tables. They need to do a better job of allocating tables.
Have been coming to Artisans for lunch and dinner for years; it is my go-to downtown restaurant. Starting with the great bread, through to the end, the entire experience is great. The "business lunch" is a pretty good deal. One potential area for improvement might be the wine list. It is good, but depth/breadth does not quite match the quality of the menu/food.
Waiters were not respectful of the conversation that we had and got in the middle of the conversation to get the plates. They seemed they were rushing us even if the restaurant was almost empty. For business talk is not recommended
Fantastic place, well catered by owners/manager or the like, Excellent waiter service. The possibility of seating in front of kitchen for spcial 6 or 8 course menu is fantastic. Food was amazing and splendid.
Amazing service and food. They really made our anniversary special.
My daughter and I had to book late due to her arrival time. When we arrived we were offered seats at the Chef's table. It was delightful. And while the food was excellent, I could wax poetic about their lobster bisque, it was the service that made the evening extra special. From the moment we walked in they were welcoming. Each employee made every effort to make us comfortable. Before we finished, even the Chef stopped by to check on our satisfaction. Excellent.
Classy place with great food. Good location and pleasant ambience.
