The owners of Artisans Restaurant have created a place unlike any other. The vast working kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant, with views from every seat in the building. The culinary team works like an orchestra, where their composer is the owner/executive chef and they work in unison to create art for their audience consistently while paying attention to every detail.

Have been coming to Artisans for lunch and dinner for years; it is my go-to downtown restaurant. Starting with the great bread, through to the end, the entire experience is great. The "business lunch" is a pretty good deal. One potential area for improvement might be the wine list. It is good, but depth/breadth does not quite match the quality of the menu/food.
Waiters were not respectful of the conversation that we had and got in the middle of the conversation to get the plates. They seemed they were rushing us even if the restaurant was almost empty. For business talk is not recommended
Fantastic place, well catered by owners/manager or the like, Excellent waiter service. The possibility of seating in front of kitchen for spcial 6 or 8 course menu is fantastic. Food was amazing and splendid.
Classy place with great food. Good location and pleasant ambience.
The food and service is ALWAYS Outstanding! This place is always good there literally nothing to complain about! The wine menu, dessert menu and the food menu exquisite! The food and the place is super sexy and just amazing!! Jacque, Chef Russell and Greggory are just amazing!!!!!!
There really is no better place in Htown to eat a fabulous meal. I love the European attitude. It's not about turning a table here, it is about your meal is an experience. Spend an evening, take your time, talk with friends and really taste what you're eating. ❤ #midtownmaven
Nice atmosphere and attentive service, food took a little while, but was worth the wait! Definitely recommend!
Everything was perfect
The Sea Bass is an excellent choice for lunch.
Eveything was perfect!
It was great!
The food wasn't hidden behind exotic techniques, but preferably made every dish a star with flavour and traditional preparation. The service was mind blowing in knowledge and attention.
Tasting menu is excellent! Seafood is better than meat!
For our 20th wedding anniversary we booked a spot at the "Counter" aka "Chef's table" and had a wonderful evening. We normally dine early, like 6:30 PM, so we were alone most of the evening. We were able to watch all the meals been cooked and readied for service. It was like watching a food service ballet as all the players did their parts. Service was timely and not rushed. The was food delicious. What a treat!
Thank you for making our special day all that more special!
Great food and excellent service. Every visit I try something different and it’s all good.
Delicious food, wonderful ambiance and amazing CHEF! He is the best!
The Chef's Table layout of the restaurant was certainly unique and different and appealed to both of us as we are avid foodies that love to cook and plate. The food was tasty and protein temperatures were perfect. The only caveat is that we showed up 5 mins prior to our reservation but it still took us 30 mins to be seated due to service being backed up.
Never knew this place existed until perusing the Restaurant Weeks menu. Was impressed from the moment we walked in. From the time we were greeted until the time we walked out the door, everyone was friendly and very welcoming. Our waiter, Kent, provided excellent service, and offered advice on items on the menu. The food was hot and fresh and served with creativity. The filet mignon melted in my mouth, it was so tender and cooked to perfection. The lobster bisque was the best I have ever eaten. We ordered from the restaurant weeks menu, but will definitely go back again to try other offerings. Love the chef's table and 6 and 7 course meal menus. You can't go wrong eating here. Highly, highly recommend!
Amazing all around.
Went to the restaurant for the first time and it is my new favorite spot in Houston. My family and I are real foodies and we eat out a good restaurants all the time. The owner/Chef came over to talk with us. He is a great guy. He wanted to make sure our meal was superb and it was. My husband and I had the 7 course meal and I wish it was 10 courses as the food was amazing! We will be going back!
We sat at the chefs table which lets you see straight into the open kitchen. It was a really fun experience. The food was delicious. Will defiantly be back!
As always, chef Fox and the staff at Artisan's provide quality food; attentive service; and, as I like to watch the kitchen in action, a true dining experience.
I went there for lunch with my friend during Houston Restaurant week. We both ordered salmon which was delicious. While there were a lot of empty tables, we both felt a bit pushed out by the waiter. He kept asking us to order shortly after we sat down. After he took our plates and brought the check, he kept coming check whether we had placed the payment in the box. We did stay longer after paying, but it was uncomfortable and not relaxing.
HRW menu was great! Hubby ordered the lobster bisque (with an up charge). Absolutely the best in town! The salmon and the steak were both superb! Fantastic value for the top notch cuisine, ambiance and service!
The dining experience was wonderful. Food tasted amazing.
The food, wine, and service at Artisans were simply excellent. John did a wonderful job taking care of us. My wife suggests trying the chicken and lobster "La Volaille et Son Homard" - apparently it is divine. The cheese plate and vegetarian plate were wonderful for me. Merci, Jacques, Simo, and your team for another fantastic evening. We'll be back.
One of the best restaurants in the city. The steaks are unbelievable. Atmosphere is out standing. Perfect for date night. Geoff and Eija
Wonderful as always. Great consistency, the food and service are terrific. One of Houston’s best restaurants.
Great food and great service! We had the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings - the food was amazing and the wine was great. Our favorite dish was the sea bass
We tried the restaurant week menu with a friend. I find the appetizers and entree menu below the average. I got steak as entree. There was no balance in the plate. The steak was also not sufficiently salted although it was cooked well. Appetizer i.e. pork one was also a very poor plate. It is also disappointing not to see foie gras in the menu of a restaurant who claims to serve authentic French food. The best were the deserts, definitely better than appetizers and entrees.
a lovely dining experience with excellent food and service. Way too noisy for us. we also wish that you had some more reasonably priced bottles of wine.
I went to Artisan Restaurant because their webpage menu sounded good. I liked the ambiance, but the food was poor at any price, and what I ordered was served cold. I will not return.
We enjoyed our visit during Houston Restaurants week. The food is excellent and the service superb, it was a bit too dark for my preference, but other then that the experience was great!
Lovely atmosphere, very good service. All food was very good quality but not seasoned well. Asparagus overcooked.
Amazing staff, great food, highly recommend sitting at the chef’s table. Staff were very friendly and informative. Will absolutely be back!
The overall experience was great. Only thing was that the smell near kitchen area was little strong.
Wonderful food. Ask for a seat that looks at the kitchen. It was awesome being able to watch the chefs work their magic
Food was very good and Gregory was an outstanding and super professional kitchen guide!
I ordered from the HRW menu. Food was good but not delicious. I have been in Artisan's before and it has been outstanding. This time it was good but not great. Regardless, it is a place worth trying.
